I think the team is actually relatively easy to predict and I reckon that Ole will play a very strong and positive team. My guess

    ——————————De Gea——————————
    AWB———Lindelof———Maguire———Shaw
    —————McTominay———Pogba——————
    —Greenwood———Bruno————Rashford—
    ——————————Cavani——————————

The only player I’m uncertain on is McTomminay or Fred but I think the rest pick themselves based on form.
Is Bailly injured? If so, I’d agree with this team.

I believe Bailly is fit so there's a chance he comes in, but it's clear that Oles preferred first choice is Lindelof so he will play I think.

If Bailly is fit he should be in. Always a physical battle with these.

    McFred also.

shame they’ll target ddg’s pussy again

I guess with DCL's pace, maybe Bailly would be a good option to partner Maguire. Basically the team against Southampton but Pogba instead of McT. But in truth, after the last game, i would also be happy with the same team starting.

A good win here to keep our momentum, maybe a similar result to Goodison earlier this season.

A brace from OG wouldn't be surprising since he tends to go on scoring runs after breaking an extended drought.

We're at a pivotal stage right now so his return to form would be very welcome indeed.

Dropping Fred would be a big mistake. The huge hole in our midfield and on the edge of our box against Sheffield was a Fred-shaped one. Just because he's not our best player doesn't mean he's not an extremely important one.

If Pogba comes in, he comes in for McSauce. They're positionally similar. Anywhere else, you're shoe-horning him in, which is never a good idea. If we absolutely must swap him in for Greenwood again then fine, but only because that false RW position isn't currently hugely important to the way we play.

Personally I'd leave everything the same except Bailly in for Lindelof. Keep the momentum from S'oton by keeping the team as similar as possible.
I hear you mate. You're probably right upon reflection

Their recent away record has been good and our home record is below average. Think we can edge this 2-1.
Our defense needs to be prepared for aerial assaults.

If Cavani is fit he needs to start, 2 goals in 2 games against them and 2 wins.

MUTV still listing their Sunday night programme as "Everton v Manchester United PL". And we were worried about our OP posting it the wrong way round!

Ole rarely picks the same team. His eye is always on the next game. He likes to rotate.

When United last won 9-0 (1995 v Ipswich) they won their next match 1-0 the winner coming in the 85 minute. History to repeat itself tomorrow evening?

You can't win 9 nil and then drop somebody. Pogba will have to sit it out and come off the bench unless Cavani is out.
Yet, Pogba was rested to be ready for Everton. He´ll play.

Even if we´re winning every game, we still need to rotate.

Which means he's playing off the wing then. I don't like him there.

There's no way he's dropping Mctomminay or Fred for this one.

Fred or Greenwood. I wouldn´t mind seeing Pogba in a more attacking role.

63 years to the day. Only the 4th time United have played a match on 6 February during the PL era.

If there's ever a day that means more than others for this club, it's the 6th of February. The players and club and supporters demand a performance and hopefully 3 points. Could careless about the current league position, that's irrelevant to the greater meaning of the day and what it means.

    I admire your rhetoric.
But when there is some sentimental reason to win a match, we lose.
Hopefully, we can scrape a win tonight.

Those sentimental reasons get in the heads of players and it can restrict them. I still remember the Manchester Derby at OT where the match commemorated the 50th anniversary and the weight of the occasion paralyzed United. There's enough pressure on the team in general, but then compound the situation with it being a Derby, and the 50th anniversary...didn't have a chance that day.

So yes, totally agree that scraping by with a win is great in any circumstance, but nobody should be sulking tomorrow on the pitch. Have to continue fighting and scrapping for everything, no matter what happens. Fight for the shirt.

Only the fourth time we play a game on the anniversary of Munich disaster.
Come on guys, don't screw it up. Win this and wait for City to lose some points at Anfield (I know it's hard to wish for this, but it's for the best)

Fairly sure Greenwood will play, Ole was emphasizing how it's a good game to represent our academy in.
Yes, on the field or on the bench. Ole will play the team he thinks is best for this game, and in the end, that will be all that counts.

It will be interesting to see if we start James in this. For all his quality he can sometimes get overrun and be a passenger in the high intensity end to end games. I wouldn't be surprised to see a back 3 / 5 from us in this game.

Their defense isn’t very good handling crossing and good movement from a striker. Cavani will play and his movement can hurt them lot.

    I’d go with

    De Gea

    AWB
    Maguire
    Lindelöf
    Shaw

    Fred
    Pogba

    Greenwood
    Bruno
    Rashford

    Cavani

Although I wouldn’t be surprised to see McTominay start as well as Martial in place of Greenwood, really hope that doesn’t happen though.
It’s a shame Pickford isn’t playing as you’re almost guaranteed one howler per game from him but we’ve got enough quality to see them off without relying on his inconsistencies.
Like Olé said, I’m sure we’re all hoping for a fitting performance today.

Interesting shout — especially with Shaw being our most influential player offensively at the moment, is James going to track that run every time at RW?

Today’s match is a difficult one. Your suggestion is a little bit to offensive. It’s very likely McT will start, and I think he is the right choice today.

I see them as a difficult team to break down but with a really underpowered midfield. If they score it’s likely going to be from DCL targeting Lindelof or DDG or a set piece - their creativity has been really poor for a while now. My fear is it’s a draw rather than they outplay us and win.
