Soft or not that penalty should have stood
Agreed although it was offside so can't complain about it that much.
Salah wins penalties like that all the time. We moan about him diving when he does it but he wins them whether you agree with it or not

Our players in the front are just not clicking against opposition that plays so deep. Everyone trying to rely on their individual skills, which might get them past one player, but not 3 or 4 and runs into a brick wall.

Shaw was good, Bruno was OK, great goal as well, Maguire OK.

Martial.. I would sell him at the earliest opportunity. He's been given so much playing time but he's not delivering.
Lindelöf, yes he was fouled and VAR should have overturned it, blatant foul by attacking player, but he's still not good enough.
DDG, does the odd great save, but does too many errors. Henderson should be #1 by now.
Rashford... I don't know what this guy needs, but it's not just working out for him. Still better than Martial but sometimes he just should release the ball earlier until it's too late.

I would rather play James at the moment than Martial.

I've been a strong Ole supporter from day 1, but I want him out now. That team selection was an act of sabotage, following in the steps of Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho. We started three men down, with a keeper who won't come for crosses, the laziest player in Martial and Rashford, who is completely ineffective, when moved to the right to accommodate Martial. It could have been a different tale had Henderson and Greenwood started. Their goal was an obvious foul on Lindelof, but with Moss on VAR and Pawson on the whistle, no chance is that being overturned. Funny how Sky have barely mentioned the incident, but focused on the penalty for Maguire's foul being correctly overturned. Martial just showed no effort today, while Rashford was dreadful, constantly running in to blind alleys. Big changes are needed, as this was the same shit which has been dished up too often this season.

Can't spell Mkhitaryan
Slow and zero movement off the ball or on it tbh. We stand around and expect a miracle to occur.

Barring Bruno, our forward players are in shocking form.

Not an Ole out fan...but hey ho 1 lucky point against the bottom 2 just isn't good enough for Man Utd.
We should be leathering teams like that.
The way we're playing, I don't see us beating Leicester and getting into a semi this year never mind winning the Cup.
How many games have we shipped early goals, do we have a defensive coach, if we have they need to go.
We have no aggression at the back, Lindelof & DDG are a big girls blouses, Maguire has the speed of a sloth and is bullied way too easy.
C'mon get your acts together and take something out of this $hit season.

Is there anything more frustrating than watching this United team? Can have moments of great attacking play one minute and then in the next some absolute dogshit.

That was garbage today. If that Maguire header goes in at the end , it would have been smash and grab. They missed three big chances themselves. 1 point from 6 vs Sheff U and West Brom is abysmal.

Poor on Ole today with his selection of Martial over Greenwood. Just can’t see how he reaches that decision apart from the things he sees in training that isn’t being bought to the match day.

unacceptable. Losing to the bottom side, a draw against 2nd from bottom. 2 wins from 6. Not good enough.
Think our form is evening out a bit. We weren't as good as our league position earlier suggesting. Someone or the other popping up with a great moment to win you the game, is not a sustainable formula.

As for this specific game, it was a poor performance on our part. We lacked the fluidity, control, creativity and cutting edge to really put West Brom to the sword and hence it became a tight scrap.

Few of my take aways from this game
  • Martial is a far cry from the player who used to instill fear in fullbacks. Doesn't seem capable of playing LW anymore.
  • Lindelof is simply not good enough. Whether there was a bit of a nudge or not, he's not physically imposing enough. Even on the easy chance from them at the end, slow and meek in getting back.
  • Maguire also inconsistent however at least he puts in a proper physical performance in. Yes, sometimes he falls over and in general is not a top defender. But he does always make his presence felt unlike Lindelof.
  • AWB - teams know we have nothing to hurt them with from out wide right. Hence they crowd the centre. Great tackle but we need an alternative.
  • Cavani was disappointing. He's an option not a true starter IMO.
  • Mctominay and Fred - again not enough quality. We need better.
  • Greenwood looked our best player when he came on. Very sharp. Deserves to start.

Officially, the final result goes down as a draw but it feels more likely a loss.

There’s a lot to complain about but in the end we have too little in attack. We can still scrape a top four finish, but we’re looking more like a side that‘s two seasons away than one season away from being a legitimate contender for the PL title.

Not sure how much progress this team has actually made apart from just being what we were + Bruno.
Very little. Bruno is an inspirational, talismanic player who can often mask the overall deficiencies of the team.

Ole needs to drop Martial.. then let him fight for his place on the left with Rashford.. keep Cavani as CF and Greenwood on the right.. I think if we had Pogba or Mata in the line up we would have won that game.. Our worst 4 players in the last few games have been Martial... Lindelof... Maguire... de Gea.. The latter 3 have without doubt cost us dearly and have put an end to any glimmer of hope of a 'Title Challenge' this season which is a huge disappointment to us all considering where we were before the Sheff United game.. It really has turned to shit with only 6 points from a possible 15..

It's a bit sad that after a game against 19th in the league, people are lamenting us not getting the softest penalty ever.

This after they probably thought Salah should never have got a penalty last week and would be enraged if we had a pen go against us for the same incident.

Thanks so much Utd for ruining mine and Eddy's birthdays, how can i ever repay you for doing that. We proved today that there is clearly so much immaturity and lack of bottle in this team when the going gets tough.

Annoying from a-z really. Top of the the league to play several games like that.

Not that I expected this team to challenge for the title before the season but in this circumstances you could easily challenge.
It seems like nobody really cares, there is no fire inside them beside Bruno and Cavani.
Same with coaches and the whole board.
Cannot hear stuff like bouncing back, it was close and smiles after such moyesque kind of games.

Its another result to add to the worst performance of the season list. It was tragic stuff. If Maguire scored at the end it would have been a robbery. We were hopeless. Slow plodding tired football. Poor team selection didn't help, but even with those questionable selections we have to be beating this terrible team. Even Arsenal battered them.

We are lacking so much creativity. Ole insists on playing Martial who if he's not scoring just does nothing, it's painful to watch. Rashford was awful today, but he was at the very least involved, and put in some brilliant crosses.

Sorry but surely if the margin is that tight and it’s a refereeing hawler it’s cause for feeling hard done by? I’m so sick of fans expecting wins and washing off any mistakes. I can never see the point of statements like that “um it doesn’t matter that the car has no engine I’m only selling for what I brought it for”

it’s a valid reason to be annoyed yet people act like it’s not
When did I say anything about feeling hard done by?

When we win narrowly people don’t reflect on the misfortune of our opponents, we accept it & move on. Whilst the decision in the 2nd minute was questionable we should be creating/converting more in the following 88 minutes.

I can’t understand statements like that car one you mention either, doesn’t quite equivocate or make sense. Your rant is misplaced, feel free to be annoyed - I am too.

He is entirely wrong, but does he not realise that some of the problems are down to him. Actually think Ole worries too much about the opposition sometimes instead of imposing our game on them from the get go.

Solskjaer says United should be better
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to Sky Sports about the goal United conceded and the performance in general:
"It's something we knew would happen from the kick-off - we knew they'd put us under pressure and put in a few throw-ins. They put a cross in and the boy finished well."
"The goal we scored is the way we put pressure on them. We did get down the sides sometimes but didn't have anybody to tap them in. One of these days we weren't there where we should have been
"We should play better but we gave ourselves a tough start. You have 90 minutes to make amends but we didn't build that momentum until late in the first half."

This is the problem

These players get paid so much money and they are getting an easy ride, they have become arrogant, complacent and untouchable...i dont think Ole has in it him to lay into some of these arrogant underachievers , he is more of a hands around the shoulder manager and that works to an extent when things are going well.

Its for this reason that i think Ole is not the right manager to get the best out of this team and bring us silverware

Rashford was more effective on the right than on the left today. I agree though Martial should not be starting anymore.

We looked jaded. This season is wearing ME down and I'm just watching it. No excuse for the defensive fragility. West Brom looked like scoring every time they attacked. Tough to pick apart a massed defence like that. Martial instead of Greenwood was the wrong option. A readjustment of expectations is needed. We're not ready for a title challenge, even in this most bizarre of seasons, but I wouldn't be throwing the baby out with the bath water just yet.

Martial just doesn’t have it on him I’ve said it for a few years. Yes he has done good spells.

However he lacks what every attacker at a title winning team needs and that’s urgency . He literally has none.

I hope we finish second but top 3 is good enough to cement two top for finishes in a row.

City have done it now, no doubt they are great front runners.

we need to go Greenwood Cavani and Rashford now in most games.

Posters saying we may scrape the top four. Even if we do we sure as hell are not going to win the champions league. We are just going through the motions. Doing enough, but not enough to win anything.

Yeah I noted "when he's better" I think for now Cavani probably should take a seat and play Martial up-front, Rash on the right and Greenwood on the left.

I think we are so used to our inter-passing and swift counters that Cavani just isn't getting the ball when and where he wants.

Since Klopp went on his rant, we’ve not had a decision go for us.

He doesn't deserve to be on the pitch as things stand.

We created nothing for Cavani today. We desperately need more creative in the wide position. Hell all over the pitch.

VDB came on with one of his typically tragic cameos.

It was obvious as soon as we got a sniff at something real (a title), the players crumbled under the pressure. They’ve proven time and time again they’re bottlers and it seems they always will be. Golden boy Rashford is pathetic, absolutely dreadful.

I can imagine him having a lot to say to them after the match, but what is the point when the damage is already done. Those words need saying from the touchline, fire being put into their bellies before the game.

It was the same against Sheffield United. Post-game was dominated by talk of the officials.

End of the day, games against Sheffield and West Brom shouldn’t have to come down to a referee or VAR call. These should be the safest 3 pointers in the league for us. The team is the one who put themselves in that position and the blame is squarely on them.

Of course there’s a bloody point, we are level with Leicester after spending 300m, our manager isn’t good enough.
So why not say that?
Let me guess, should've got the world beating pochetino in eh?
Ole didn't buy lindelof, or De Gea. They were the ones at fault for the goal today.
Maguire was actually one our better players, if not best. Wan bissaka was also solid.
Predictable as ever, bad results bring same names out spouting the same crap.

This team is without proper leaders. Take nothing from the shit ref but we got what we deserved. Teams that can't keep A clean sheet won't win shit. Don't care who is available but playing Lindelöf is an offence. DDG also should have helped but again glued to the line.

Exactly. As much as we can point to decisions not going our way, we shouldn't be relying on that sort of thing against opposition this poor. It's all a bit desperate and tragic.

Whooooa there, Maguire was as bad as ever. The way he fell over his own feet second half, leaving a player clean through, was atrocious. He also has a habit of taking a dive and waiting for the ref to give a foul, but they are on to him. De Gea saved him today.

If there was any team ripe for the picking it was West Brom. City are running away with the title and no team seems concerned about it. Disappointing.
