Haaland, it is a no-brainer. Use the full £80m for the transfer fee and the rest for signing on fees and agent fees so that he doesn't ask for another release clause in the contract.

If £80m buys Haaland and he’s willing then we have to get him.

If £80m buys Grealish and he’s willing then we have to get him.

Whichever of the above turns out to be true.

Or give me a strong, quick, experienced CB (if he exists, although I hope he doesn’t cost £80m).

Greenwood is an unreliable forward unless proven otherwise. At current he is 3rd/4th choice as CF so the manager and coaching staff does not see him as reliable
in fairness, he has no chance of ever becoming a reliable centre forward if we don't give him regular minutes as a centre forward in the next year or so.

We had the same argument about Rashford and Martial a few years ago, and they are now demonstrating the consequences of shoving young strikers on the wing for years. They don't get the game time to really hone their skills, in terms of movement, positioning, timing. Instead, they are now stuck as in between players, can do a job on the wing or up front, but not really specialists in either position.

Would spend the bulk of the budget on Koundé (£70M?) and the remainder of it to pay all the signing fees it requires to sign Sergio Ramos, that sorts our defence out with Maguire, Ramos and Koundé, better build-up play and we won't drop cheap points. Hopefully we can offload either Lindelöf or Bailly. Would then hope next season for some internal progression from the likes of Greenwood, Rashford, Diallo in the attack.

If Pogba leaves, we have no choice but to strengthen the central midfield. We cannot go on with McTominay, Fred and Van de Beek.
Great shout on Koundé. Phenomenal talent. Not the biggest but makes up for it on athleticism. Definitely where I would spend my 80m.

This might seem insane but:

Either:
Ronaldo (1 year left on contract) - Would guarantee us goals up front and we badly need closers/winners
Messi

Both would make us competitors for the title even if we have a leaky defence. Don't see us getting Haaland for 80m. Our squad, especially Rashford/Martial need experienced WC players to observe/emulate.

Why is everyone suddenly on the Kounde band wagon?

What do they think he’ll revolutionise our defence?

It wouldn’t matter. £80m wouldn’t be enough to close the gap.

Maybe they didn't show they were better as CF than as wide players. If you show prodigeous talent like ROoney or Owen or Torres, management would put you there. Also Thierry Henry made the transition from winger to CF quite easily so maybe they never had the attibutes to begin with. Its more than just about pace. CF have a natural knack they develop from youth days.

A good quality CB, with pace, and a good winger, someone like Beckham would be amazing, but we'll probably end up buying another goalie and some youngsters.

Haaland release clause is activated next year. We have a good option for the RW in Diallo and MR can do a job there, keeps him playing regularly when Martial is wasting our club time on the LW. Haaland next year 100% because that's the easiest time to get him (if at all because of Bayern Munich wankers as Lewandowski is almost done now).

This summer HAS to be a solid CB to stop us leaking goals. Maybe a DM/Matic replacement if needed.. And focus on keeping Poggers because he's worth putting in the effort to keep imo.

If we were to sell the liability called Phil Jones and Periera then that's a wonderful summer for us.

80m.
Short term positions needed. Summer 2021 (CB, CDM, back up RB)
Medium term. Summer 2022 (ST, RW, CM)
Offer Pogba a contract (300-320,000 p/w). If rejected, offer it to Varane in a swap deal. CB sorted
Lingard and 40M to West Ham for Rice. CDM sorted.
James Tavernier, back up RB (10-15M?)
25M plus revenue generated from selling Periera and Dalot (25m?) For Pogba replacement. Maybe Camavinga?

£80m doesn't go very far these days. A CB is top priority and probably another midfielder next, though there are 2 or 3 more positions which could be looked at.

Messi for free and Marquinos from PSG.
Marquinos would be the only swap deal (realistic) for Pogba between all the PSG, Juve or Real players I would happy with. But they wouldn't agree with and rightly so.

I’d sell martial & Pogba which should raise an additional £100m. West Ham would probably take Lingard at about 20-25m. Then I’d target Sancho, Ndidi & Kounde. Greenwood as backup 9 to Cavani. Then I’d target Haaland & Grealish the following year.

DDG/Henderson

AWB/Dalot
Kounde/Bailly
Maguire/Lindelof
Shaw/Telles

Ndidi/Matic
Van de Beek/Fred
Bruno/Scott

Sancho/Diallo
Rashford/James
Cavani/Greenwood

Maguire & Lindelof be each other’s replacements. Never to be played together. Scott & Fred no longer needed to protect the back 4 doing 1 man’s job, Ndidi sole DM. Bruno & VDB starting 8’s
Feel like if we sell Pogba, we absolutely have to replace that dynamism in midfield. Without him, it's too easy to man mark Bruno and nullify our creativity.

Granted, you hope having balanced flanks with Sancho and Rashford would alleviate that issue a little.

Milenkovic and Zakaria, would have thrown in Trippier as a backup RB too but think the first two already take up £80m

Personally? Point Ed in the opposite direction, take the money and run.

Essentially the Bayern Munich approach to selling off their players.

If we had only an £80 million budget then I’m looking at selling off all our deadwood as a priority to increase our transfer funds so that means actively trying to sell Romero, Grant, Dalot, Jones, Pereira, Mata, Lingard and Chong whilst I’d also look at selling Lindelof and Martial too.

First off Haaland’s release clause doesn’t kick in til next year so that’s not happening at £80 million anyway so with what we have plus what we make in selling players I’m looking at signing a new centre back with lots of pace, a pure out and out defensive midfielder so we can play Fernandes and (provided he’s staying) Pogba in the same team and Sancho to play on the right.

Greenwood can then be used as a centre forward with Sancho and Diallo on the right and we should look (as previously stated by someone else) at Rashford and Martial as examples of what happens when you stick a potential centre forward out on the wing just to get games, Cavani and Greenwood for a season for one spot works for me until Haaland’s release clause kicks in.

Grealish...

- Premier League proven
- His prime years ahead of him
- Oozes confidence, and therefore won't be fazed by the size of our football club.

Can
So theoretically, your Ole and you have a £80mil transfer budget this summer. Who do you buy and for what position?

For clarity sakes, you can't add to the budget through player sales. Its £80mil thats your lot.

Choose wisely....
Can I sell before I buy?

With £80m, id go to Dortmund and give them £20m for their new manager, Marco Rose (get him to pick players from the youth teams to fill the gaps in the first team squad).
Next call of business would be giving Woodward £10m to bugger off.
As Ole, id hire myself as the DOF and pay myself a £50m signing on fee.

If we only have £80m to spend then we need to think out of the box IMO and think both of the short term and long term.

I would personally sign Sergio Ramos on a free along with 20 year old CB, Loic Bade as the hot prospect for the long term who seems to be showing huge potential.

With the remaining money (If possible) I'd hope we target either Sancho or Grealish.

I'd also like to see Diallo and Mejbri given a chance in the first team.

Honestly I'd be happy with Mbappe, Veratti or Marquinos, but the last two are quite happy at PSG and Mbappe's dream is Real.
I chose Marquinos in this instance, because there is no CB out there that impresses me really.
