Some players that i dislike and haven't been mentioned (or barely):

Diego Godin
Neven Subotic
Marco Materazzi
Half that Leeds team from back in the day, but more specifically Bowyer and Woodgate.

German players from the 70‘s through to the 90’s were universally hated by everybody! Schumacher, Matthaus, Voller, Allofs, Muller, etc etc., who’s not to hate?!?!

For me, Neymar represents most of what I hate about modern football. I don't mind a player who is aggressive on the pitch but I can't stand those who dive and whine all the time. Neymar does that and comes across as a spoilt brat most of the time. Fair to say one of the most pleasing sights on that night in Paris was his shocked face almost bursting into tears. Acts like he's the best in the world - and don't get me wrong, he definitely has the talent to get there - but he's never really been the best and is nowhere near that level atm.

Hazard would be another who I'd put under the same category, though not as dislikable. @Andycoleno9 Pep's diving army is also a great shout.

As others have said, there are players whose off the field antics would make them considerably dislikable, but I find it easier to dislike someone for what they do on the pitch rather than off it.

Surprised to see a lack of Cantona from opposition fans; they must've hated him.

Judging only on-pitch behaviour:

Suarez before he went to Barcelona. When he went there, he seemed to mellow out and hasn't done anything awful that I know of; but before then, he was by far the most despicable player I'd ever seen. Non-stop diving, cheating, intentionally attempting to injure players, biting, deliberate handballing, racism... just pure filth on the pitch. This cnut bit another player three different times. It seemed pretty clear that he was literally mentally ill. While there have been other players who were just as bad with the diving or thuggery, noone else that I've seen has been such an all-encompassing degenerate. The way he would drive his studs into other players' ankles and then feign injury himself just made my blood boil. He was just completely bereft of any sort of sportsmanship or common decency, to a point that far exceeds what people might excuse with silly notions like "he grew up playing in the streets in a poor country." Countless other players did that without turning into despicable swine. I was pretty much convinced that he was legitimately a sociopath.

Then one day he just stopped doing it. I suspect his Barcelona contract included a very sternly worded clause. That or he went into therapy or something.

For sheer unlikeability, Neymar is a close second. He's not as psychotic as Suarez was at Ajax and Liverpool, but he's showing no signs of maturing and will probably continue to be a petulant, cheating manchild for the rest of his career. It's just that he doesn't go around biting and punching people. I also couldn't stand the hysterical, shrieking victim complex that all of Brazil had when he was injured at the world cup, but I suppose that's not technically Neymar's own doing.

Taxi for Solskjaer
Three broken teeth. Damaged vertebrae. Cracked ribs. Half an hour unconscious.

And not even a free kick.

Toni Schumacher said he'd never felt so much hatred before. And I was one of the haters at the time. Because that French team was a true joy to watch.

Thankfully Battiston recovered, but Le Bleus didn't reach the World Cup final of 82, that had France written all over it.
Schumacher should have been jailed for that, I don’t think he ever took his eyes off Battiston and never looked at the ball as he came charging out. Remember platini holding his hand as he was stretchered off.

But, England spanked that France team in the first game in the group matches which is ofcourse where Robbo came to prominence. That England side were better and totally killed the French. England got knocked out without losing one game. The french lost twice. But Schumacher was a c**t for what he did

A player I disliked as a kid back in the day. 448 apps for City 1965-78. He hated United and because of that he went out on a limb in every derby game against us. Remember how he'd throw extra fuel on the fire with some of his comments and the way he put himself about on the pitch. City fans loved him. United fans hated him.

I'm just going on The Caf
Steve McMahon despised him with a passion. If anyone epitomised his team in the late 80s/ early 90s it was him. Gobby sly and dirty. So glad Big Norm showed him up in our 3-3 draw at their place.

Agree with your list from the playing days, but having listened to various players like Wayne Bridge talk about Bellamy from their playing days has actually made him grow on me a little since retirement. Cretin on the pitch, but sounds like a pretty straight shooting solid guy in the dressing room.
When he’s not coming at you with a golf club, sure...

This gets me thinking... who would people say were our most thuggish players at Utd ? Pre Fergie days, I’m thinking
Nobby Stiles. He kicked the hell out of everyone. He was also a terrific football player.

In today's game it has to be Suarez, for the Evra situation and for bitting somebody anytime he wanted to move to another team. Back in the day though it hard to ignore a number of players who played for Leeds in the mid 60's. Hunter, Giles or Bremmer to name a few.

I've been watching United since 1963 , so I'll go for Nobby Stiles, John Fitzpatrick, Jim Holton, Joe Jordan. Loved all four of them, guess my opinion would have been different if a fan of another team.

Barton, Bellamy, Suarez, Keane.

All loathsome humans.
Bellamy is actually a very charitable guy. He set up a football charity in Sierra Leone, granted in folded, but for a long time he was funding it out of his own pocket and the sad thing is when it folded he got condemned by FIFA who with their billions did nothing to help. While running it sent several kids to the USA and Europe on scholarships and for a time it improved the lives of dozens if not hundreds of kids there .

He’s done lots of things in Wales for hospitals and supports MMA fighters. Also he’s apparently very generous when people are fundraising.

you’re clearly referring to an incident that I am not aware of, perhaps you can educate me rather than just being sarcastic.

In any event, never assume people know what you know. You might find you agree with one another if you’re both working from the same information (kind of the whole idea behind discussion and debate).

No need to take it as a dig. You’ll find lots of people will make off-hand references without giving footnotes, and most people who watched footy throughout Bellamy’s career will have heard of this incident. He even celebrated with a golf swing next time he was on the pitch. It was in no way meant as antagonistic, sorry if it came across that way.

no offence taken friend.

I didn’t know the incident, but yeah clearly doesn’t put him in a good light as a person!

The second paragraph was as much a general statement as anything, thanks for the link.
