Best- 4-0 vs Sociedad in the Europa League. Labelled by name as one of the toughest draws we could get, we made one of the top sides in Spain look dog shit & kept a clean sheet in the process. Played some cracking stuff at times.

Worst- 1-2 vs Istanbul in the Champions League. One of the worst performances in recent memory, topped off by 1 bad goal & 1 comically horrendous goal that schoolboys would be disappointed to concede. The real reason we are out of the CL.

Best: PSG away, we were absolutely brilliant that day, outplayed them and should have won by more.

Worst: It's between Sheffield at home, Basaksehir away and Spurs at home. Tough to decide really.

Best would have to be Leeds, are first game against them in the prem in years and then we go out an thrash them 6-2.

Worst Spurs 6-1. At the best of times a defeat that big is devastating but compound that with the fact it was the opening game and Mourinho was at the helm, yeah not good.

PSG was the best performance. Maybe the best in many years. Worst was Spurs never seen a United team have such a head loss.

I actually think Everton 3-3 was our best performance.
Istanbul loss is a travesty that I will never forget.

Best: PSG away, Sociedad away.

Worst: Istanbul Basaksehir away, Spurs, Palace, Arsenal home. These all felt utterly bleak and hopeless.

PSG away and the vast majority of the Everton draw stand out (in terms of attacking intent for the latter).

The Istanbul game is comfortably the worst, followed by Sheffield at home.

The Spurs game was a hammering but I can’t help but think the stars were aligned for Spurs that day. Lamela should have been sent off, some of the goals were just plain daft and these results do happen every few years, even when under Ferguson.

Games like the Istanbul one wind me up a lot more. That was just pathetic.

I think both answers are from away in the Champions League.

Best — PSG away (2-1)

Fully controlled the game and should’ve won by more. An unfortunate own goal was the only reason this game was close. First time PSG had been beaten at home in the group stages since 2004. A complete performance

Worst — Istanbul away (1-2)

The opposite in every way of that PSG game. Looked like a pub team from start to finish and was the real reason we’re playing tomorrow night rather than tonight.

That first half against Everton was fantastic. Such a shame we tarnished it & threw it away.

Yeah we dominated large parts but the defense was shambles to cough up those 3 goals. If that's the best we can do then the absolute state of us.

PSG away is the best probably. Istanbul worst, worse than Palace and Tottenham as players weren't even fully fit for those first few games of the season.

We looked so good at PSG and against Leipzig in those first 2 UCL games and still managed to get knocked out of the competition

Best was Everton away. All the pressure was on and only 2 and half days after the disaster in Turkey.

Worst was the defeat at home against Sheff Utd reserves. Ended the title dreams.

Leeds or Southampton best for the sheer number of goals. Worst too many to count Brighton Istanbul or Spurs come to mind straight away.

Probably for me it's the game where I've seen the ability to dominate a game against decent opposition and not play well whilst setting up to counter - frustrating the errors that allowed them to score but we genuinely dominated the ball, restricted them to three shots on target (DDG error, awful defending for James goal and last minute FK) but were always looking dangerous and playing with speed and good forward interplay and full backs getting involved.

PSG away was obviously a great performance but we didn't setup to dominate the ball, more a matter of personal preference and what we want to see rather than one being better than the other.

We had a thread about the best performance so far recently already and I landed on PSG at home, yes we lost 1-3 in the end but had we not fluffed our chances it could have been 4-1 and had Cavani scored that chip we're talking goal of the season. Honorary mention to the 3-3 with Everton and the 1-2 PSG away win

Worst performance Sheffield United at home by a country mile

Sheffield United and first half versus Newcastle. Spurs was an anomaly.

Worst individual was probably martial vs Newcastle, or de gea vs Everton

We were terrible for large periods of that game.
We really weren't, we dominated should of been two up before failing behind to Southamptons first attack and then had a bit of a wobble after going two down to a quality free kick after we missed another good chance to equalise. re-grouped at half time and dominated again and turned the game around.

It was a very good performance all round. Just because we went two down doesn't mean we weren't playing well, (we were playing very well and continued too other than a little period where Southampton had there tails up after going 2-0 up purely on the back of james ward prowse's excellent set piece ability.

The obvious ones have already been mentioned but I thought we were really good away to Everton. They're a good side but we just played them off the park for 45 minutes and then swatted them aside in the second 45. The most comfortable I've been all season watching us play a side who aren't just cannon fodder.

Worst just take your pick from any of the bad ones. When we've been rubbish this season we really have been fecking rubbish. Sheffield Utd probably annoyed me the most just because we looked absolutely hopeless all game and Ole didn't even bother to try and change anything. Completely baffling. Although Leipzig away is also up there. They looked pretty bad themselves but we were just so determined to feck it up

I think for me the Everton away in the cup quarters we were magnificent for the first 25 minutes. We could and should have been 4-0 up. How we didn’t score until so late on baffles me. And away in Turkey was beyond embarrassing.

I agree with most of the posts on here -

Best: PSG, Leipzig, Sociedad, Leeds games.

Worst: Istanbul, Sheffield United, Tottenham games.

Be interesting to break this down to best-worst individual performances this season (although perhaps that might attract unnecessary vitriol...)

For me it would be:

Best: Rashford hattrick against Leipzig. Yes it was off the bench, but it was awesome. I'm sure there is a Bruno performance that merits mention as well.

Worst: Martial against Sheffield United. Awful performance, devoid of energy and quality (usually there are glimpses of quality with Martial even in his most jaded displays, but this was utterly bereft.)

Best - Southampton . We won 9-0. Although they did play with ten.
Socieded probably the best all things considered.

Lots of PSG mentions. I think it was one of our fans best matches but I’m not so sure it was our best overall performance and result.

Worse - Sheff Utd. To this day I truly believe that’s the worse United performance I’ve possibly ever seen all things considered. We were top and in decent form, Against one of the worse teams to grace the prem. Lack of effort, bad attitude, conceded poor goals to shite players, mistakes, poor attempts to change the flow of the game. Complete disaster of a game.
Spurs - we lost 6-1 but at least it was against a good side with good players and we had ten.

Best performance I would say Southampton at home we won 9-0 it was incredible.
Worst probably Spurs at home, so many individual errors in that game and in the second half we looked dead.

Best Performance: Leeds

Worst Performance: Sheffield United

That Sheffield Utd performance might be the worst I have EVER seen from a United side in a competitive fixture, taking into account all of the variables such as quality of the opponent, effort, what was at stake, general performance level, xG etc...
