He is just being cerimoniously respectul of our hosts, you know... the tie is 50/50 (United have rather more quality and depth, but Milan have much more desire) and a golden egg for the EL brand.
But do you think it's the hardest draw there was?

Will be a good tie, and we should be going through. To be honest, i'm glad we avoided the english teams, especially Jose in Europe. Would hate to go out of Europe against Jose or Arsenal.

Good point. Our desire was probably at like 6.2/10 last time I checked the Man Utd WhatsApp group.
you should read the recents posts from @wrepdrep in the Serie A topic to realise they are hungrier for sure. :D

FFS we never get an easy draw
Got beat the best to win it. And not singling your post about tough draw but have to say when we get dumped out of CL from a group with Leipzig and Instanbul Basak (who are near bottom of Turkish League) with 6 points from first two games. Hard to complain about the draw.

Quality team this season and a massive club. I did not care about EL but games like this are great. Ole and his luck with draws though

We have without a doubt been regularly getting hard cup draws especially under Ole. You always seem to comment on our draws. Just because we didn’t get the hardest (which would be an English team), doesn’t mean the draw is still not hard. If you then add PSG, Leipzig, City, Everton, Liverpool, West Ham, Real Sociedad, Leicester who we have all drawn this season it’s easy to see why we keep complaining about it.
Just ignore the WUM. Goes missing when dippers lose games (zero posts after the derby debacle) but is always the first to comment on how easy United's cup draws are.

I really don't get fans who want a tough 'mouthwatering' cup draw because it's 'more interesting' than a 'dull' draw against an easier opponent.

I just want United to get through each round, and ideally put a good few past the opponents. That's more likely to happen against the likes of Molde or Dinamo Zagreb, and I certainly wouldn't find it dull.

I don't see why some think it's better to draw a killer of a tie that'll be far more difficult and we have as much chance of losing. Why want it harder for the club than is necessary? When we could have a much easier route instead?
Haven't seen how those teams play, but I'd imagine they'd shut up shop against us, and it's those teams we have issues breaking down. We've seen it in PL with Sheff Utd, west brom in recent weeks, even teams we've beat it's been narrow 1 goal wins v fulham and Burnley as well. Even the win against a defensive west ham was a 1 goal victory. We'd all love the easiest draw possible, but I just feel AC Milan will suit us better, they will try and win and as we know playing on the counter is our strength. As much as will give AC their due respect and acknowledge in cup ties anything can happen ,this is not a great Milan side.

Squad needed an easy game to rest players but in terms of an interest in the game it's a nice glamour tie

They seem to be on the down Milan after a good start to the season so might not be a bad time to play them

Personally I think Spurs are real dark horses.Jose does know how to win in Europe so probably they were the team to avoid.
Having said that, I doubt if anyone wanted to meet us

You're arguably the best side left so don't think so, no.

Leipzig was part of the hard draw. They're 2nd in the Bundesliga, having finished 3rd in the last 2 seasons. And having just reached the S/F of the CL. It was tough to get them from the 3rd pot. As a pot 2 club, we shouldn't have been facing 2 of the previous seasons semi finalists. That was a tough draw.

Just because they're not a traditional power, doesn't mean it's not a difficult draw when you get one of the Nouveau riche clubs who are very strong in the current era.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
So we drew finalists and semi finalists in the group stage of the Champions League, 5 of the top 7 in the domestic cups, the toughest possible draw the last time and now this? Luck, eh?
City will probably get Milton Keynes Women's Reserves team in the CL.

EUFA "well, that was a surprise draw as we didn't know Milton Keynes Women's Reserves were in the draw, but we move on. Nothing to see here"

Yeah, that's a valid view. If it's for tactical reasons, and with a view to us having the best chance to get through, then I get it.

It's the comments about preferring an 'interesting' tough draw because an easier draw is 'dull' that I don't really get.

Good draw for United and a bit of a glamour tie to boot. Contrary to popular belief, Milan aren't very good. Their lofty position in Serie A is a testament to positive variance then good underlying performances.

Best tie I could have hoped for. Don’t massively care about the EL other than it’ll be nice for Ole and the lads who haven’t won anything to get a trophy. What I did want was an exciting tie against a good team - I didn’t want a trip to somewhere obscure to play a trash team and I didn’t want an English team either because that’s boring.
two top clubs over the years, will be a great game!

Very nice, since we are playing in this second rated competition it's great we get to see decent teams. Will be great to see Zlatan again...

Really hoped we will get an easy opponent with rest of our fixtures for March. So less chance of resting key players and hoping none gets injured.

Btw any Serie A observers here? Milan started season really strong but has bad/ weak results lately. And in the previous round itself they struggled against 10 men opponents. So how is Milan playing now?

We would draw them now they're getting good again.

Well the last draw didn't look kind but it was more like playing Arnold Schwarzenegger's Old Boys.

Great tie. Could go either way.

Also, it feels like Arsenal play Olympiacos atleast every other season.

Good chance to see Donnarumma in action, then we can discuss whether he is a good keeper or not.

I'm just happy we avoided Spurs and Arsenal. Milan aren't a quick, pressing side so we should be fine.

They also won't just sit deep and defend all game so I'm expecting us to progress with a decent cushion.

Excited about the draw. Unfortunately we need to go full strength to win it.

I like the tie.

It should be a comfortable win for us, Milan are far from the giants they used to be. I remember bricking it when they had the likes of Cafu, Maldini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Kaka and Rui Costa. Their current squad has an Ibrahimovic at the end of his career and a green Donnarumma as their best players.

Maguire/Lindelof vs Zlatan :nervous:
Zlatan vs Lindelof is a complete mismatch physically despite Lindelof’s recent UFC debut.

Hopefully Ole plays Bailly then uses McTominay’s height as an extra option to help out on goal kicks and free kicks from deep.
