@utdreport: Shaw: "H [Maguire] said that they [match officials] got told it was a pen by VAR so I'm not sure what's gone on. I don't understand why it's been stopped. If it's going to stop then you think it's going to be a pen because we had the ball and we were attacking." #mulive [sky]

Fair point, why would you stop play then

As frustrated as I am about United not getting the decisions I don't think that this will help United

If that is genuinely what the ref said to Harry Maguire then that's disgraceful refereeing. Didn't want to give it because it would have people talking about it afterwards! Unbelievable.
Worked out well for him didn't. This will be the talk for the next few days. It was as sure a penalty as you will see all season.

So the ref bottles it attempts to avoid controversy and in turn creates the Streisand effect. feck sakes.
To be fair they probably say all sorts of things to the captains who in turn keep it professional and on the pitch... and didnt expect an honest lad like Luke Shaw to overhear it and then snitch on him

You guys are on a different planet if you think any of our lot are getting a ban for this, the officials have fecked up ans we have called them on it.
He's done nothing worthy of ban as far as I can tell.

Repeating something he overheard on the pitch is hardly crime.

How can the ref make such comments and get away with it? The referees are so bad, at this point it has to be corruption. Why is he worried about it being a talking point after the game? The likes of Sky will be turn anything into a talking point. That’s what they do ffs.

What's Ole referring to about Maguire on some website? Anyone found it?

The Man United skipper’s actions will also be under scrutiny again on Sunday after his penalty area tangle with Jamal Lascelles last weekend. In recent Chelsea meetings the Red Devils’ centre-back has survived VAR reviews of a potential penalty foul on Cesar Azpilicueta and violent challenge on Michy Batshuayi that may well have affected the outcome.

Ole essentially confirms Shaw’s statement.

Has a go at outside influences that look to influence proceedings.

Also, Sky is shite.
Their ‘analysis’ is diabolical. Clean sheets are important in football. Scoring goals is pretty important.:houllier:

I mean ground breaking stuff here.

It's utterly pointless having players and managers trying to question and justify refereeing decisions. Just make the refs come out after the game and be interviewed, like the players and managers are questioned. Unbelievable how a ref can make decisions like this today and then just...disappear. It's a joke.

Wish someone said to souness “and people quoting stats about uniteds penalties is exactly the type of thing that is influencing refs”.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
I’m sorry...why are sky acting like this isn’t a big deal? The ref thought it was handball, thought it was a foul but didn’t give it to avoid controversy? Where’s that in the rules then? fecking mental.

Cnuts like Souness are moaning that we get too many pens.
This is really annoying me now. None of these “critics” even bother to try and analyse the penalties - of which there are only a couple that aren’t stonewall. They just point to the number and say it’s too many.

A referee admitting making or not making a certain decision due to political or PR reasons is quite scandalous, I would think.
There should be a full scale investigation and sky should be right behind it because they'd likely have picked it up
