I can't help thinking that there is no way Rashford would be a starter in either of our past two CL winning teams, if that's the level we're looking to reach then like most of our current players he should be looked at as upgradeable over the longer term.
None of the players from this team would be starters in our CL winning teams.

Which site is this? Hopefully we get numbers regularly in that one. Distance covered stat is so hard to get.
InStat apparently.

Yeah, it'd be great if there was a (free or reasonably priced) site that provided all the stats Opta tracks. Things like FBref and Whoscored are a good start, but it'd be great if they expanded even further.

I remember the UEFA site used to show Distance Covered player stats for all the CL matches. Not sure if they still do.

FIFA world cup was the best, they had all sort of stats like total distance, sprints, also categorized running into 3 categories based on running speeds.

To be fair you don't need to see the stats that he's been lazy for a LONG time now.

Often people said it was just tactical that he doesn't chase after his fullback when they go forward, but he's barely pressing at the best of times either.

He seems to have that "I'm too good for this" swagger going on lately. If only he worked as hard as Mane or Sterling, he's got just as much talent if not more.

I remember that! I'd totally forgotten until your post. That was a stat-geeks dream.

The official Fantasy Football for it was brilliant too. It was a lot more stat-driven. Points for pass completion %, tackles/interceptions/aerial duels won for defenders etc. It made players like Kroos/Kante actual viable options. Far more in-depth and entertaining than what we have now.

This is definitely tactical, he can close all day long if he needs too and has shown this previously.

I thought he pressed very well against Chelsea.

It’s abundant to see that the pressing all the forwards are encouraged to do, is to press the opposition players into a pass in a certain area which gives us the best possibility of winning the ball back or progressing play.

It may seem lazy but it’s tactical. I doubt someone who has Marcus’s personality ever thinks he’s too good for something, it may also be to prevent him from getting injured but I’ll go with the former.

If it’s tactical, then why did James and Bruno press really intensely all game? What team do you know where a manager says we’ll press down one side but not the other?
Maybe so Rashford can be in a higher or better position to carry the ball once he receives it. Conserve energy once he receives it.

He’s our best ball carrier over distance, it could definitely be tactical.

There could be a multitude of reasons, I just don’t believe it’s through laziness or believing he is too good, it does not reflect his character.

That was 0/10 performance, shot on and off the ball. How he played 90 mins is a mystery. Ole really lack balls to sub him out.

Incredibly sloppy player. Needs to iron out his game if he wants to be considered as a top player.

This is his standard. I don't know why someone would expect any better from him. Off the pitch he's doing a lot of good but on it I can't say much.

All he did was walk around looking half-arsed. At least Bruno and Cavani tried to work. That was a disgraceful performance

Absolutely fecking wank. Has been poor for a little while now, but this game, feck me. Looked like he didn’t give a shit.

He’s too inconsistent to ever make it as a top top player

People like to exaggerate how bad his performances have been, but that was genuinely awful. The second half display is possibly the worst performance from a football player I’ve ever seen. And I include my five a side in that. You’d drop him were it not for the fact we have nobody else to play.

Wow.

I don't think I've seen a performance quite as bad as that in a while.

He's shite against packed defences, I think the Martin Tyler mentioned that he'd never scored against palace and I'm not surprised at all.

One of the worst performances I have ever seen from a player in a united shirt, astoundingly bad.

worst performance he has put in for a long time.... his quality always blows hot and cold over most strings of games....

But cant recall a performance of such little effort from him... like a bad Martial performance that....

He’s been shite for a while now but we completely rely on him so we won’t take him out the side.

Pathetic performance again. Despite his 18 goals, he's been shite this season. Anyone with eyes can see that.

He's meant to be one of our brightest talents and one of our star players. Looks far too comfortable and knows that he can put in a bad performance and still play in the next game. We need him to start performing again.

Except it’s not his standard though is it.

That was his worst performance in a United shirt, he’s been one of our better players this season, so by definition it can’t be his standard performance.

My God. That was one of the worst individual performances I have ever seen from a United player. I honestly think I’ve played with lads who have more technical ability than Rashford.

Its a complete disgrace. Even Gary Neville went in on him tonight. Wonder if the “Emperor’s New Clothes” effect is starting to wear off?

At least one of his defenders will be along with some spurious statistic to prove we’re all wrong and our eyes are lying to us

That was actually quite disgraceful to be honest. Not just the quality but the lack of effort to do anything. Terrible movement, didn’t track back when he gave the ball away numerous times.
If we had anyone decent to play instead I’d call for him being dropped for the derby.

His worst performance in a United shirt, and there has been some pretty stiff competition in recent games.

When he cant run at players hes pretty much useless.
