Hope DDG is alright. When I saw he was missing last night for personal reasons I did immediately wonder if his missus had given birth as they are expecting. Hopefully the longer time out is down to the COVID restrictions and not something more serious.

Big chance for Dean now.

If it is just a normal, healthy pregnancy with added Covid-related delays in returning then it's good news all round really. De Gea gets a break and to be present while his wife is giving birth, Henderson gets a run of games to make a claim for the #1 spot. Would also mean that Ole likely knew for a while that Henderson would eventually be given this opportunity, which might explain how casual he was about giving him gametime over the last few months.

Hopefully that's it.

Wasn't sure. Thanks for that. I know they are very protective of pregnant women here at the moment.
Can't see Edurne returning to the UK for at least 6 months which makes having Henderson a blessing. De Geas head hasn't been right for a while now and if he's away from his new born daughter then I can't see his state of mind improving.

Shame he’s coming into a team in poor form and instead we aren’t on one of our better runs. Hopefully he continues his own personal form vs city after a solid game v palace

I'm not so sure. This is a rare chance for him to get of run of games to prove himself. Throwing him in a tougher situation (with City next as well) will tell us more about him than coasting in a run of easy wins would. He's been eased into the group very slowly this season but we need to see if he's ready to be #1 now and that means being able to cope when things aren't going well.

If he's currently a better keeper than De Gea (as many think) then he should be able to help arrest our poor form rather than be victim to it.

Wonder if Dave got hit with the Wuhan virus? Nevertheless, its a good opportunity for Dean to make a strong impression. I feel if he does that, that might cement his place in the team as #1 for next season.

This should answer the debate on who should be No.1, I have wanted Dean to get a run of games and now he needs to grab this oppurtunity. It is a shame that our next game is City.

I know, but it can change quickly. Anyway, hope I'm wrong.
She was tweeting at around 7pm last night so I wouldn't have thought it's got anything to do with that.

Hope Dave 's situation ends up working out whatever it is but I'm glad that Deano will get an extended run finally

Finally gets his chance to really force Ole's hand moving forward if he performs well as he has been as of late

A month out for personal reasons sounds serious. I didn’t even get near that much when I lost my Dad at 23. Hope DDG is okay.

The news is rather concerning; a month for Personal Reasons must be life altering for whoever’s involved - hope DDG gets all the support he needs.

Being somewhat cynical, I remember when Herrera was ‘injured’ for us in his last season here and him supposedly talking with PSG and agreeing a deal all at the same time.

It may be because he had to urgently go to Spain, meaning he will have to isolate for two weeks once he's back... it is concerning though.

She lives in Manchester now with Dave. She recently move there and they’ve not lived together since they started dating in 2010. So why wouldn’t he be able to see his child? He’s had plenty of chances to go back to Spain, he could have been gone on a free by now.

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't see his Mrs coming back to the UK for at least 6 months after the birth which means in the present climate each time De Gea visits Spain he'll have to self isolate when he returns to the UK which isn't sustainable. Him having chances to return to Spain has nothing to do with his present situation.

Hopefully Dave and his family are all OK, a month is a very long time. Hopefully if she is in Spain, its just a case of giving him plenty of time to get there for the birth taking covid rules into account, then giving him a bit of time with his new baby before returning. Bit ominous though.

It will be a big test for Henderson, I really hope he shines. Its a shame its taken this for Ole to give him the opportunity, hopefully he grabs it with both hands and becomes undroppable as I worry about Ole reverting straight back to DDG and Henderson leaving at the end of the season.

Not an occupational hazard at United these days!

Re your last sentence, isn’t it a bit much to expect a goalkeeper to help arrest a slump that’s been typified by three consecutive nil all draws?

I was thinking as far back as the Sheffield United game. I wish three 0-0s were the worst of it. :(

Thoughts are with David, his wife and expectant child, praying the long absence is due to quarantine reasons!

Looking forward to see Dean get a run of games for us, very impressed with his Sheffield United stint, we have had many false dawn's when trying to produce our own keepers even though some have gone on to have top careers, hoping he his different, seems to ooze confidence which has to be a plus.

Fair point. For what it’s worth, I do see this change helping to tighten things up at the back. Not so much the saves he makes as the fact that it must be a nightmare defending in front of a keeper who is absolutely rooted to his line (and seemed to hit at least one clearance to an opposing striker in every game)

But that won’t solve any problems so long as we continue to shit the bed up front as badly as we did last night.

I hope all is well in the DDG household. Providence has provided Hendo the chance we've all been waiting for. Ball's in your court Dean.

Going back to Spain, quarantine issues potentially plus international break at the end of the month, might just be easier for him to stay.

Posted a photo of the baby 5 minutes ago so Thank God the wain is ok.

Wonder what is gonna keep him out for 6 matches.

Would be great if it's just isolation reasons and it would allow Henderson the run of games he needs without De Gea having to be "dropped".

Quarantine. Palace (finished), City, Milan, West Ham, Milan, Leicester (cup). 6 games in 2 weeks which is just incredible. Congrats to DDG on the baby! On the pitch, hope Dean makes such an impression that he becomes number 1. We’ll need it to get something in all of these next 5 matches. Not a single easy one there.

This is his chance, theres been enough, calling for him to be in, so looks like he will be, needs to take it now. I've got not reservations on him coming in at all.

Sink or swim time for Hendo. Lets see how he handles the Maguire-Lindelof partnership in front of him.
