Thinking we should replace the manager doesn't mean that we think everything else in the club is fine. Meanwhile if we change the board and CEO it doesn't mean that Ole will also win the league.

People wanting Ole replaced think he won't us the title regardless of the board or CEO in charge.
Usually if the board was changed ie new owners, the first thing they do is bring in a new CEO and manager.

I agree with you but I only think he should be fired if we still suck this time next year and he gets one or 2 of a winger striker dm or a cb. If they just leave him here with the same roster then surely you’d have to admit the club have failed him by not backing him and failed the fans by not consistently striving to improve the team over the last 2 years. The owners need to do that whoever the manager is and even opposition fans can see where we are lacking in quality compared to other top teams. Sacking managers who finished second and then weren’t backed isn’t a confident look whatever we decide to do
I disagree re quality - I think City are top for depth and quality but we are no different to Chelsea or Pool. I don't know how you can type that we haven't tried to improve the team when Ole's spent such a huge amount on Maguire, AWB, James, Telles, Donny, Bruno, Cavani and that's not including Amad/Facundo. Our depth is very good compared to most clubs, it's just this forum has such a revisionist attitude that bad form suddenly makes players crap and we completely forget simple facts like Martial scoring 17 PL goals last season.

I honestly have no faith at all in Ole as a top level manager but I feel I am non biased/agenda driven enough to see the best way forward is to give him to the end of this season unless we completely nosedive and assess then. It's sad in a way but if he can finish top four, that is literally progress for us to finish in the CL places two seasons running and I expect he will be offered a new contract and backed in the transfer market again. The wider question for me at this time, which I didn't anticipate coming this season, is do we want to be playing this style of football?

I would also go for Graham Potter. It may seem strange when Brighton are only in 16th place, but their league position doesn't tell the full story. Their statistics are exceptional. Here they are currently ranked as the 8th strongest team in the league: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/. On expected points (https://understat.com/league/EPL) they are 5th in the league this season, less than a point below us despite a clearly inferior squad in just about every position.

Only City and Liverpool have allowed less shots against per game than Brighton this season. Going forward they are 7th for shots taken per game. Potter has completely changed the style of football they play. I think our fans would very much enjoy seeing us play this way.

Why do they not have more points if they are this good? I think it's a mix of terrible finishing (they are 14.98 goals below their xG and have missed numerous penalties this season), poor goalkeeping (which ended up with Ryan being shipped out on loan to Arsenal), and also bad luck.

If these numbers hold any weight, then Brighton are already performing at a level similar to us (minus the end product). If Graham Potter is already achieving this with a squad much weaker than ours, how much would he be able to improve us?

In the end, how much worse could he be than the guy who was relegated from the prem, and then fired because he couldnt get a win in the championship? Lets give Potter a go.

The list is getting shorter. Poch is gone, as is Rose and Tuchel.

I would go for Nagglesman. If not him maybe Hassenhuttle, although he is having a torrid time of late and could be sacked.

Interesting in that some are mentioning Potter. Never seen him play so i dont know.

I agree we are only a couple of top players away, let’s say three. Could tackle it in one bumper window. Maybe that’s the plan, if we get top 4.

(Whenever I type the words “if we get” my phone offers “Grealish” as an auto fill option).

A £250mil spree on a CB a CM and a forward and we are there.
Yeah that won't be this summer though with how badly clubs have been affected

Good grief. That's my entire point. I'm in agreement that Ole doesn't seem to be anywhere near good enough, but continuing to change managers every few years hasn't worked and can't work when nobody at the top of the club seems to know or care about football. It only prevents us from winning anything for a few more years whilst the Glazers use the club as an ATM.

Not really it can work. Just because previous managers fail it doesn't mean any new manager will also fail under the current ownership. People also thought Liverpool are doomed under their current owners till Klopp joined.

It's definitely possible for a manager to succeed under Glazers and Woodward. They're not going anywhere though if we go with the mindset we'll never succeed with them in charge then we might as well forget about the club entirely.

Glazers aren't great but they spend enough and mostly support the managers.

Allegri is still available, it wouldnt be pretty but he would win us trophies for sure.
Allegri would be the worst possible candidate and a deeply unsatisfying merge of Mourinho and Van Gaal. Not sure he would win trophies as well.

Therefore I fully expect us to go for Allegri... Our club seems to have zero imagination or foresight when it comes to hiring managers.

The Glazers and Woodward aren’t going anywhere though. So the question is, do we compound that by sticking with a manager out of his depth? How do we benefit from doing that?
Not picking on you personally as I could have quoted from any number of posts but there seems to be a mass delusion that anyone other than Woodward and the Glazers gets to have a say in who manages United. If anybody is under the impression they are considering a change then I have very bad news for you.

The owners want a top 4 finish which they will get barring a complete meltdown over the next two months, they don't particularly care if we thrash everyone in the last 11 games and finish 2nd miles ahead of the chasing pack or if we scuffle and sneak 4th on goal difference on the last day of the season. They want CL money and they also don't want to spend much this summer and Ole is on course to deliver the former and won't rock the boat about the latter.

If we do crash out of the top 4 that might give them pause but realistically it is going to be a tough sell to any Manager worth his salt to come here knowing we are miles off catching City, stuck in the Europa again and probably not willing to spend any money to improve the team.

I am not always confident in my predictions but if anyone wants to bet on a manager change this summer please send me a DM and I will be happy to take your money.

Even if they do somehow appoint a manager to return the club to winning titles, he will only be around for a few years before they make a balls of the next appointment again.

If we appoint Allegri, then I give up. He's a cowardly coach which is why a lot of the Juve fans wanted him gone.

Your ludicrous arrogance aside, I never said or intimated that they don’t make the decisions or that a change in manager is on the cards. If I fancy a bet on a change of manager, I’ll use a bookie. Not some clown off the internet.

I don’t know, we were reported to be very very interested in Nagelsmann back in October when Ole looked shaky. If we scrape top 4 and don’t win a trophy then that isn’t progress from last year.

We are absolutely nailed on to go for Allegri if Ole is replaced this summer or the next one. He is absolutely not the sort of manager we should be going after, but knowing how Woody and friends do things, you just know this is what is going to happen.
You just know it don't you! We seem to always go for the exact opposite to what we should be doing. We (club and fans alike) seem fixated on only considering managers who have 'won something'. It cannot work like that and it is not as linear. We are ignoring so much talent by adopting this rather odd mentality.

basically what happened with Bruno.
Something had to work out eventually!
Not having my hopes up, but looking at how he has handled recent transfers shows that he learnt a thing or two. Who knows, maybe he's reading the cafe and taking note

Good Lord mate have some respect for our manager. The man did finish 3rd and got us to 3 semi-finals so let's not pretend he's some rookie who lucks his way into everything. I mean even with the capitulation we've suffered, we're still 2nd in the league. That should count for something.

I want Ole gone because he took us as far as he could, but let's not pretend that Potter will do a better job. Didn't Moyes teach you anything. Managing United is a totally different beast than your average PL club. The pressure is immense here. And as we've seen, not all can handle it.

Let's not pretend that this wasn't the case under Sir Alex, yet we still had one of our most successful periods in the history of our club. As both Klopp and Pep have clearly shown, it starts from the manager. He sets the expectations and executes the plans. It's not like the Glazers are going to tell him "sorry buddy, not title winning in this team. You're only allowed to finish Top4". So if the manager wins the league, great. If not as long as you finish Top4 we're all good.

Now the issue comes with manager being content with finishing Top4. Ole looks like he is. But then again the only reason we're having this debate is because on a deep subconcious level, every manager gets compared to SAF, indirectly. You see, he was the man who set the expectations for this club. Fans have grown accustomed to the "we're in it to win it" mentality, that they forgot what it was like to support United pre-SAF. But sadly once he retired, there was no one to enforce these expectations anymore. We need someone like him to start doing this again. Till then we'll be in a neverending loop of hiring and firing managers because they can't seem to enforce these expectations. Or, expectations will simply be lowered as it is happening right now.

And while we're at it let's also put to bed the myth that we don't spend if we reach the CL aka Top4. The only we didn't spend heavily was when we finished 2nd. But in my opinion that is down to Mourinho being Mourinho more than anything. Aside from this we've spent really heavily every single time we reached the CL. When Van Gaal got Top4 he cleared out half a squad and signed just as many. When Mourinho won the EL we still ended up spending a fortune on Lukaku and Matic. And recently Ole had a good few additions to the squad and we narrowly missed out on Sancho because Dortmund got too greedy. The Glazers might be greedy, but they're not stingy. Now compare them to the owners of Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle or even Totenham.

Nagelsman or Potter. And we would probably need a sporting director too considering they are coaches.

How’s that worked out for them?

I’d hate Allegri here also, would be pointless.
They've carried on winning titles but the Champions league has alluded them. And currently they're behind Conte's Inter which I predicted was gonna happen on this forum.

Juve losing Beppe Marotta to Inter was the big loss for the Juventini.

I would like Nagelsmann, then whinge about him not fixing things immediately, then I would like Potter. He's got 4 months to turn it around. Then.......

Basically I want my club to be ran with all the dignity of a big brother contest

Nagelsmann would be my first choice by far, I would also be excited by Bielsa or Potter. I do think Brendan is a top class coach but I don't see us ever going for him.

I'd argue Nagelsmann has had more of an impact on RB's style in similar or less time than Ole has at United with far less resources

Noone would ask for a manager to be sacked after 4 months. Two years in and still a lack of perceivable coaching and identity though? That's far less acceptable

Watching Tuchel already having Chelsea looking like a proper serious outfit in little over a months time is only reinforcing my belief in any potential Ole successor preferably being a young and progressive manager...

No, just an improvement in league position. Can you imagine where we'd be if Ole starts coaching these lads? The mind boggles..... at many things
