Essentially 6 points clear of West Ham now (assuming they win their game in hand), nothing is done yet

I’m hopeful we can finish on about 75 points and that should be enough for a good second and progress.
I’d love a cup and if we get past Milan then the Europa is probably our best bet. I will say that our squad is looking tired and bare at the moment and that is the big worry

95% now on FiveThirtyEight for United to finish top 4. Trying to remember what Leicester had at their highest point last season.

Leicester play city in the next round while United play Brighton. A good chance to get a little breathing space, which would come in handy if we progress in the cups.

Great weekend for us with a win and 4th-7th all failing to win. Opens up a nice gap.

Huge stride forward now. This gives us breathing room, to begin to rotate in the league slightly In future games and focus on the FA Cup and Europa

9 points off our total from last season with 9 to go (57 so far).
  • Brighton
  • Spurs
  • Burnley
  • Leeds
  • Liverpool
  • Villa
  • Leicester
  • Fulham
  • Wolves
Think we'll get 16-20 points from this, ending with 73-77 points. I'd say we are very safe for top 4. We gotta prioritize winning a trophy this season between the FA Cup and Europa League, it's vital for this young group to cement this good season with silverware to push on next season.

it really doesnt, for anyone yet. Theres too many pts to lose, clubs around each other playing each other.
I agree there isn’t a lot of consistency below City but I’m going to stick with my initial comment. We’re now 9 points above West Ham, who are in 5th, and they have 10 games to play. The maximum they’d get from their last 10 games would be 6 wins and a couple of draws, putting them on 68 points. We’re currently on 57 points with 9 games left to play. I think 4 wins would be enough for us at this stage.

Anyway, it’ll be nice to go all out for the two cups we’re left in this week. Could go either way in both ties.

Goes without saying you want to win every game but a lot of games there I really want us to win

Yeah, a lot of winnable games but our biggest win streak this season has been 4 league games. We can't ever seem to string consecutive wins together.

After last season it’s almost unimaginable that Liverpool could be playing Europa league next season. Happy days. Likely hamper them with budgets, more so in a Covid world.

Who do we want to finish 4th then? West Ham?
It's going to be chelsea as much I prefer to not be, it's just a bonus that we are very likely going to see Leicester finish top 4.

they're going to be feeling the heat after the next game week imo, they play City while Chelsea have West Brom. They've then got West Ham away. I really don't think Leicester will do it

Reckon Liverpool will? As long as they don’t I’ll be delighted to be honest.

Anyone but Liverpool or Chelsea making top 4 would be great. Imagine both dropping out but reaching this year’s CL final.
Both clubs have great experience in finishing outside top 4 and at the same time winning the CL.

I dunno, obviously one of them will do it but right now I wouldn't put money on any of them (Leicester, West Ham, Everton, Spurs or Liverpool)

With a 14 better goal difference. It may not be done, but it’s not because we’re only 6 clear of West Ham.

Yep, for me anyway. Plus they have a really nice run in against a few teams with nothing to play for. Plus Chelsea at home which is huge.

Away is a bonus for us though. Two thirds of our points this season have come from away games. It's home where we're awful.

We (Leicester) have got some awful fixtures coming up, but I don't think it's the next two that are the important ones. We've got two difficult games (City, West Ham) - where I'd probably be happy with 1 point - then four "easier" fixtures (West Brom, Palace, Southampton and Newcastle) before the 3 awful fixtures at the end (you lot, Chelsea and Spurs).

If we can win those 4 middle fixtures, and possibly scrape the odd draw here or there, then we'll be ok. I'm very much 50/50 on whether we'll make it though. Think the final spot will be between us and West Ham, with Man City, United and Chelsea being the other 3 (in that order).

Agreed. My target at the end of last season was Top 4 and 75+ points and I think we're on course for something approaching that this year. The fact that we are likely to get there and without actually strengthening the first XI to the extent that we all thought it would be, and that too in a Covid season is just a massive testament to the players and management IMO.

While I don't have high hopes for the summer transfer window, I still live in hope that the board finally backs Ole to the extent that they backed Jose and LvG and bring in the players he wants in good time. We have 4 clear needs (DM, RW, CB, ST) bringing real top quality in just two of them will bring us leaps and bounds forwards from where we are now. Of course, a properly ambitious big club would seek to bring all four in in the same summer, but with the chancers we have in charge I unfortunately don't see that happening.

Optimistically, I had us down for 8 wins and 2 draws pre-West Ham but I think a more realistic prediction would be 7 wins and 3 draws or 2 draws and a possible loss v Liverpool

So we dropped two points but gained a point on the three teams directly below us. Cool.

We probably won’t. We’d need a dramatic upturn in form which doesn’t look likely. I’ve already assumed that we won’t be in the CL next season.

Never more than 70%. Leicester were not very good as per their models and due a regression.

Provided we beat Brighton, Burnley & Spurs could City maybe drop points against Leicester & Villa, looking at their form this week I would say absolutely no chance but maybe they could get distracted by a Champions League Quarter Final

What I liked today is we had that defensive solidity and focus, and I do not think we will be able to score goals the way City do nowadays, so being defensively solid is key in the rest of the league games, to ensure we do not concede, and most of the time, we are good enough to score a goal.

Cavani & Pogba's absence are major, but if we manage to keep getting points on the board, we will be a in a good shape for 2nd finish, hopefully they can return soon and kept fresh for FA cup & EL games.

Squeaky bum time for Chelsea. Pool only 5 points behind now with a very favourable end to the season.

I think West Ham will go level with them on 51 points next weekend as well
