Bruce is a crap manager who got Birmingham promoted and took them to their highest ever Premier League finish, kept Wigan up then took them to their highest ever Premier League finish, had Sunderland finishing in the top half of the league, got Hull promoted TWICE, keeping them up and getting them to the FA Cup final. He’s not a crap manager at all. The problem at Newcastle is higher up than the coach and has been for years now.
He definitely is (was?) a decent Championship manager but even in his successful jobs he still ended up getting Birmingham and Hull relegated and was on the way to relegating Sunderland before they sacked him. At his best he was mediocre as a PL manager but in 2021 he’s certainly crossed over into crap territory.

I had Callum Wilson in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago on a Free Hit. I was willing him and Newcastle to score the whole match.
I lived the day as a Newcastle fan. It was awful.

Their recent form has been a disgrace. 2 draws and 8 defeats in their last 10 games, including a cup defeat v Brentford whilst fielding a strong team.
They need to get a result tonight v Leeds who are hit and miss.

At the minute Newcastle are only being saved by the dirge below them but even those teams have been picking up points.

Remember when Newcastle let go of a CL and La Liga winning manager because they didn’t want to spend £14 million on Rondon and got in Steve Bruce, and some were arguing that they couldn’t see a big difference?

Steve Bruce was then given £90 million over two summers and has them looking like this? A few Newcastle fans were laughed at for suggesting that he was initially working with foundations that Benitez had built, but it was so true and we are now seeing the results.

It’s baffling how anyone thought they would be better off.

They should have been thanking their lucky stars that they had a manager of that caliber. They would be comfortably top half had they given Rafa the £90 million.

I feel sorry for the Newcastle fans, it must be soul crushing to see such utter incompetence.

Don't think any manager would do any better with the players there, most of the attackers are injured, if he keeps them up hid job is done
We weren't winning even when they weren't injured though. This is now 2 wins in the last 20 games, it's untenable.

Wish people on here would be a bit more respectful in what they post regarding people who’ve been very good servants of our club.

Hope whatever happens works out for the best for Steve Bruce.

Personally agree with Rio. What, honestly do Newcastle expect him to achieve with that squad?

I’m not massive on stats but Christ that is god awful

you’d think they were playing Barcelona

There's no fight in the team. I would be very surprised if Bruce is still the manager on Monday.

It’s best he walks

they are getting relegated with him in charge. They are awful and so lucky they got some points early on

im still wondering who thought Joeliton is worth 40 million!!!! They deserve locking up for that

United dodged a bullet Newcastle refused to sell Longstaff. No idea who's idea it was to buy him in the first place.

Squad no worse than what Rafa had. He certainly didn't have player of quality of Saint-Maximn in final third unless I'm forgetting someone obvious. Calum Wilson and Rondon about the same level, pretty much same defensive options as back then aswell.

Comfortable mid/lower table and not looking down the barrel at relegation? That is in no way some pie-in-the-sky wish.

We're aware Ashley is the ultimate cause of the rot and we all know the squad isn't going to pull up any trees. But I bet you could pick half a dozen championship managers who'd have these 14th and not looking over their shoulder in the table every weekend.

Faithful servant to your the club or not, past managerial successes or failures all aside - he's been absolute dross here and should go.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Pardew back in on Monday! I genuinely think without Wilson and Saint-Maximim they’re the worst team in the league. Even with them they’re bottom 5. If Fulham pick up a few wins I don’t see them getting the points to stay up.

The squad isn't any worse than that of Leeds, Southampton, Palace, Brighton, Fulham and Burnley. I think it's fair to expect them not to be involved in a relegation battle - and right now it looks like they will head down.

Rondon / Ayoze Perez formed quite a good partnership in fairness. Both are better than what they currently have.

Newcaslte have been spinning the wheels for years, as Ashley wants to sell, he has a value in mind but no one is willing to pay it.

Therefore his goal has always been, stay in the Premier League.

Inevitable ending with this kind of appointment. Bruce might keep you up that one time, but you're only ever gunna end up back there. Club owners are thick as feck. It's remarkable really.

It’s not disrespectful to say that Steve Bruce was always a middle of the road manager, and it’s certainly not disrespectful to say that he was a massive downgrade, which should have been obvious to anyone at the time.

We can’t just claim he is doing a good job because he is a club legend.

No one is wishing him any harm.

They're a better team than what they're showing. Bruce is such a dinosaur its quite sad to watch. Hope he's gone by Monday and they can bring someone else in.

Newcastle fixtures:

Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)
West Ham (H)
Liverpool (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)
City (H)
Sheffield (H)
Fulham (A)

Fulham fixtures:

Villa (A)
Wolves (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)
Southampton (A)
United (A)
Newcastle (H)

Brutal run-in for Newcastle. West Ham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester, Man City on the bounce.

They play each other on the final day, that could be brilliant.

They`re lucky that Sheffield and WBA are basically not participating this year and they only have to somehow just slump over the line ahead of Fulham. But yeah, shocking play, given the fixtures it wouldn`t surprise me if Fulham overtake them.

Would much rather Fulham stay up. They actually try to play football.

I would prefer Newcastle to stay up, I have a soft spot for them but with Bruce, they’ll go down.

I don’t think Rondon or Perez are better than ASM or Wilson.

ASM is better than any of them and Wilson the same level as the other two.

Hard to see where they get a win until they play at Anfield.

Maybe as individuals yes. However Rafa Benetiz got them playing as a unit.

I’ve no idea why ASM is at Newcastle. You could see him at someone like Arsenal next season.

Maybe ASM is difficult to get to play as part of a unit, and maybe that's also why he's at Newcastle and not a bigger club?

He certainly has talent and is an exciting watch but can be frustrating at times.

Edit: Even if that's not it, Premier League transfer fees are nuts. It's why Zaha is still at Palace, Grealish at Villa.

Imagine replacing Rafa Benetiz with Steve Bruce and expecting anything different. The team Benetiz had wasn’t anything special but he is a good manager so he got them mid table comfortably.

The greatest con in football history is convincing everyone they are a big club. Sure they had good players in 96 was it when they nearly won the league from us. Sure in the 1900's they won a few FA cups and League Titles. But is that was friggin years ago. The only thing they have is a big fan base. Thats it. They are crap and should be relegated.
