You can only beat what's in front of you. But I don't expect much from this team. I just found it curious that the pattern from the last two u21 tournaments continued.
Tbf France never performs at the under 21’s, I would say they are even worse than England from that point of view. I mean from the collective point of view. Spain and Germany are more consistent and reliable even if I think Spain has better individual players. And this competition is more open. England, Netherlands and France still can turn things around.

I really rate Nelsson: the U21 CB with highest potential IMHO.
Nelsson is fantastic in matches where the defense stands deep. He is therefore often good against stronger teams, such as against Manchester United in the Europa League and against France yesterday. He may have trouble keeping an eye on the space behind the defense when his own team is on the attack.

I don't think you'll find an England fan anywhere that thinks we'll turn it around.

But the potential is there. Let's see if getting game experience during his career will make him step up. I really rate danish players overall and admire how your clubs continue to be competitive with such restricted budgets and tight tax laws and still have the motivation to keep a very good grass roots level.

In relation to the country's size, Denmark is good at producing many good players. There are really high taxes in the country, but we are used to that and have chosen it ourselves. Virtually all younger players in the Danish league, however, have the ambition to go abroad and earn more money with lower taxes. Even the mediocre players often travel to another league as they get older, so they can earn a good salary for later in life.

Nelsson has a great talent, and he will probably play for a big European club in the future.

I wasn't criticizing your tax system: you guys are doing it right, and I wouldn't mind paying all thoses taxes when the return in public services is so good. Having enjoyed my vacations in Denmark even though is an expensive country for a southerner like me (but supermarket prices are "normal", tbh), and your railway system is really reliable and useful to get arround the country and suburbs.

I was just referring that while in most of other countries football clubs have tax benefits (yeah, politics and football) and that clearly leaves your clubs in a less competitive position when compared to other lub's countries where they even give football clubs fiscal pardons :nono:

About players wanted to play abroad, even though Denmark has lovely living conditions, is hard to resist the Premier League / La Liga / Serie A marketing charm (and sky rocket wages, off course).

France lost too, they tend to underperform at 21 level. They failed to qualify for a number of recent tournaments.
You shouldn't expect much from PE teachers who can't even start a proper starting XI of players who actually pair up well together (seriously that Camavinga/Guendouzi partnership was one of the most horrible things I've seen in a long time)

From the individual point of view the players have quality to win the games, the tournament maybe it would be needed a better collective aproach. We are far from being perfect on that matter, but for me France and England at this particular level (not the main teams) remain a mistery.

Did the Dutch players feck up each others knees not once, but twice inside the first 20 minutes?

Not a particularly inspiring performance by the German U21 so far in this game.

How's the Spain-Italy one, anybody watching?

I'd say "that's what you get for picking a keeper who only played 90 minutes of Bundesliga", but then the alternatives are Grill and Schubert. Only Moukoko can salvage this.

Baku is so much better than anyone else on his team, it's a bit comical for a Germany side.

What happened? I didn't continue watching. Moukoko isn't fit to play, is he?

Dahmen messed up / choked on like three touches of a back pass and eventually presented Kluivert with an open goal. Moukoko supposedly has some slight injury issues, but he's on the bench. I was half joking anyway. But this team just has such a massive lack of individual quality upfront it seems very hard to imagine them actually creating something, despite being presented with ample space at times. At the very least he could bring on Klimowicz. 73 minutes in and not a single sub.

Wasn't even aware ProSieben still existed. I thought they closed shop back when Raab retired. I don't have TV.

Son of the commentator is being subbed on. That must be a first, too.

Germany finishing the game strong. Meanwhile, the Dutch brusquely bring Bryan Brobbey.

Apparently three red cards within a couple of minutes in Spain-Italy?

If Justin Kluivert had a different surname I doubt he'd be a professional footballer. A player who truly embodies the term overrated.

Also, our youth team coach makes Frank de Boer look like a master tactician. What a complete knob.

Pretty ridiculous ones too..Scamacca gets a very harsh second yellow after ever so slightly touching Mingueza's neck who throws himself to the floor. Mingueza gets up and immediately gets confronted by Rovella who initiates and fakes a head butt and throws himself to the floor. Migueza gets a straight red and for some reason Rovella gets a second yellow as well.

Mingueza is that unlikable Barca CB, correct?

Grill has played in several Bundesliga games now and despite the horrible performances of our team, he played very well and had some nice saves.

Baku is much better than anyone else, but to make that observation based off last night´s game is a bit weird, he was very sloppy and not dangerous at all going forward. Nmecha, Dorsch had much better performances yesterday.

No Callum Hudson Odoi, no Greenwood.

Ramsdale, Tanganga, Godfrey, Guehi, Sessegnon, Davies, Skipp, Smith Rowe, Madueke, Nketiah, Sessegnon in a 433.

Smith Rowe and Madueke really have to be the different, very grey players otherwise and I'm not a huge fan of the Sessegnon twins. Angel Gomes could have added something to this side as well.

Strange that there‘s no place for Eze or Jones. Eze is probably the most experienced player in the squad and Jones has been playing in Champions League knockout ties! I like Madueke but he’s a bench player in the Dutch league.

It's probably going to be 343 again which makes it even worse.

Apparently he's been killing it in training.

I don't see why all three can't play tbh we know what Boothroyd's like, he'll save it for when we're out.

Think Davies is the issue in midfield and a lack of presence up top. Davies is the guy to link midfield to attack whilst Skipp holds but his quality has been awful. Boothroyd is selecting Davies simply because of his experience in the PL. Skipp is the better 6 though and you don’t need both of them. I’m convinced Jones would be much better in place of Davies. Sess and Madueke have been disappointing too. Hard to imagine that McNeil and Eze wouldn’t have been better.

I'd love to see Eze as a number 8.

Strange one, I know...but with his size and physicality, combined with the efortless dribbling and huge technical ability, I think he could be gamechanging there.
