I wonder if a Martial + cash deal would get Levy interested? I'm assuming Mourinho would have to feck off before thats a possibility, but who knows in this transfer market.

He can tell them what the feck he likes, contract compounded with covid has screwed him imo.

In all seriousness though, surely Levy holds the strings here? 3 year contract plus a notoriously difficult charmain to negotiate with, the asking price has to be north of 120m?

Am sure the club will be very interested, but does Kane really fancy us, he is in similar situation to Van persie in 2012, he'll want to move somewhere trophies is guaranteed, is it so here?

I’m one of the guilty parties who thought his first season would be a one off but he’s world class and would fit us perfectly but just feels like he’s already spoke to city or told them he’ll leave. City need a striker and Kane is the kind of player they can break records for and get away with it without worrying about re-sale value. Could maybe see PSG as an option if Mbappe is leaving, be pretty much guaranteed Champions League football as well as trophies plus working with Poch again, also probably just as quick getting to and from London as Manchester.
A lot more risk if we sign him but I doubt anyone would be bothered about how much we spent when he’s banging 20 goals a season in

I think he'll end up at City and I find it quite sad how unbothered I am. It's obviously shit, but City are just operating on a different level to the rest. They're already far ahead. Very defeatist attitude, but it is what it is. We just need to keep improving ourselves, I just don't think Kane will be part of it for us.

I think Kane is one of the top five best rounded centre forwards in the game but he won’t go for less than £100 million, I fancy City to go all out for him if he leaves Spurs as he’s able to drop deep and bring others into play like a 10 or false 9 as well.

Can’t see anyone having the money to pay 120 million and an insane contract to Kane who will be 28.
Clubs are really starting to see the effects of the pandemic and are loosing money by the bucket load. I just can’t see anyone forking out that kind of cash for a 28 year old with a patchy injury record.

Tottenham won't be mugged but they really should do right by Kane and let him go for a fair price.

He's stuck by them for much longer than he had to or should've.

Covid works both ways. If there is a £120 million bid in for him, are the famously tight arse Spurs going to turn that down whent they've lost hundreds of millions on the gate and match day sales the last 13 months? I imagine they're more likely to sell him now more than ever if a bid comes in. This is the last chance for them to make maximum bank on him.

If he's leaving Spurs specifically to win trophies then presumably City are the obvious destination for him given they're the team most guaranteed to win trophies over his remaining peak years? Whereas someone Haaland's age knows that even if their next club isn't winning as much as he'd like he still has time for a big money transfer to another top side.

Spurs often linked with martial. Might be an option there, though obviously only if Jose is going too

Would absolutely love him here. Imagine Martial but consistent and good in the air. That's what Kane brings.
Of all the strikers you compare him with
Kane is literally everything Martial isn’t

Hahaha, yeah probably a bit wide of the mark. I meant it in the way that Kane is an absolute monster and his average level is similar to Martial's top level. Didn't word my sentence brilliantly though  .

Kane is amazing player. This season he even shows that he is a complete packet of striker. Can create, can assists and can score goals. Not many striker can produce both assists and goals almost in equal big numbers. However, I think Man City will get him, he’s more suitable for Pep’s system than Haaland. Haaland is a pure striker, Kane can do the false 9 job and also pure striker job.

Straight choice between Kane or Haaland, then we're going for Haaland, but the fact we seem to trying to charm Cavani into staying makes you think it's very unlikely.

Not even City will spend 120m on him.
Maybe, but if they were they are far more likely to spend it on Kane than Haaland, because they're smart like that.

Why is this? I thought, for us, our ticket sales are a relatively small part of our revenue. TV money presumably remains the same, as do our commercial sales and I can’t see why merchandising would fall off significantly. I haven’t looked into it but I’d be interested if anyone can explain. Am I just massively understating the importance of match day revenue?

United in anywhere between £3-5m per home match.

How many home games have we played behind closed doors? 30?

Upper estimate of £150m in lost revenue. Clearly not profit, but a massive hit. That’s your Haaland, Kane or Sancho fee gone.

I’m fairly sure Daniel Levy would rather jump off the golden cockerel above their stadium than ever deal with us. The Berbatov thing 12 years ago fecked with him.

When did we last try and buy a Spurs player?
I‘d say Modric about 10 years ago, but I think Chelsea were the ones who publicly seemed to make the move when AVB just joined them and he stayed. It was probably that time when TV money had really stepped up and the likes of Spurs back then no longer needed to sell their best players and could name a higher price.

So the whole structure is different now, who knows how Levy feels about dealing with us. If we paid the money, I'm sure he'd sell to us. We won't be paying the money though.

Depends on if you believe we tried to outbid Madrid for Gareth Bale, right?

Seriously. He won't move from a team that is not guaranteed a success, to another team that is similar.

Would Real not be in the running here?
Both Barcelona and Real would. However their respective priorities seem to be Haaland and Mbappe.

City signing Kane would be like us signing Shearer at his peak. Almost a guarantee of a few CL final apperances.

If hypothetically Martial were to be moved on either as part of a deal for Kane or Haaland or sold in general then we’d be left with only Greenwood as back up so again hypothetically if we signed Kane then having Cavani as a third option if Kane or Greenwood were injured makes sense and on a one year deal.

When did we last try and buy a Spurs player?
Bale under Sir Alex and under Moyes so 2013 or 2014.

If we were ready to spend 100 million on Sancho, I'd throw 120 million at Kane without hesitation.

He's a better, more rounded player than Haaland. Haaland is very much a goalscorer, while Kane would help us create more chances while still scoring a similar amount of goals.

He's also England's talismanic figure and would be the perfect player, from both a football and a branding perspective, to lead this United team with a core of young, English players. As the senior star player he could very well be the cog that put us on par with City. He's that good.

If it's between Kane or a backup RB + a CB that may or may not become a starter + another Cavani esque depth striker, I'd go for Kane, no question.
