Honestly, Sky is just taking Premier Leagues line in this. They know they can lose money from this.

It's all down to money at the end of it and the ineptitude of FIFA and UEFA.

If City and PSG weren’t so game-breakingly wealthy then the clubs wouldn’t consider this. How about Neville rants about how it’s a disgrace that City have billions on oil money to ruin the game? Complain about that instead you fecking cretin. If the leagues want to issue statements about how this is so disgraceful, maybe they shouldn’t have allow billionaires and crooks to run roughshod over our game. That includes the Glazers. I don’t like this super league idea either, but this is a problem they created by allowing money to infest the game in this way. You could even make the same argument for Sky Sports and the creation of the Premier League itself. You’re about 20 years too late.

Don’t know if I’m missing something. Roy Keane mentioned Bayern Munich have turned down this proposal. I thought clubs in Germany weren’t invited in the first place therefore how can you turn down a proposal when you haven’t even been asked?
The initial wikileaks had Bayern and PSG as founders, something happened since then that we don't know.

Surely this is just a power play? The PL can block this and clubs will need their permission to compete in it. The clubs involved will never leave thier domestic league. Clubs want greater control over the distribution over their games, and ultimately a bigger cut.
True. I think this is a negotiation tactics from the big 6 to get more revenue from tv deals. But, at the same time, Real and Barca are also present who already enjoy lion's share of their domestic money. Super League is probably highly lucrative because they are effectively bypassing UEFA.

I'm disappointed that we've signed up to this. They've been talking about a super league for years now though.

Again, good luck trying to sell the TV rights next time after the PL kicked out those 6 clubs.

Football really is broken. UEFA and FIFA can cry about greed but let’s not think either of those entities are much better. We’ve been heading towards this for a long time,.
But at least it's an open competition. At least everyone has the potentiality of entering these competitions. The Super League shuts everyone out except for those chosen for their so-called elite status.

Lets say that the clubs stick to their guns then what would happen? Would anyone be interested in an EPL without Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool etc? Would anyone be interested in a WC were national teams that can't utilise players like Bruno, Pogba, Ronaldo etc? I am not suggesting that what these clubs are doing is good but seriously who would want to see an EPl without the top guns? I certainly wouldn't pay money to watch Burnley play against West Ham that's for sure.

I absolutely hate this idea but UEFA's 'fairness' statement is hilarious. How is letting the likes of PSG and City be owned by countries 'fair'. How is not letting Newcastle do the same then 'fair' either? At the end of the day if UEFA want this shit to stop then they need to create something that doesn't allow these 'nation' state clubs to cook their books and dominate football via money only. Go talk to the likes of Lyon and the rest of French clubs about fair play.

The fecking PL allowed us to be bought by a leveraged buyout that crippled our club and are now crying about what is fair. Give me a break.

This is simply an argument between two bunch of cnuts nothing more.

Edit: if they wanted fairness then they would bring in a wage and transfer cap full stop.
I think this is a fair summary. They are all a bunch of self serving pricks.

Everyone looking for their interests, acting like UEFA is some fair organization is hilarious.

They're probably running scared now and terrified of losing the huge revenues the big teams bring them.

And of course, City are reluctant. This is all a response to the mockery they made of the PL and the transfer market in the last 13 years.

Unlike most on this forum I consider myself a capitalist. However even I would have to say that the proposed elitism in this "breakaway" is greed of an off the scale proportions

The only thing making me smile in all this is the irony of Liverpool and United fans claiming City and Chelsea etc have killed football for years when in the end its actually them and their American owners who have.
It was always just about keeping the shop closed from others entering

we both play in red and we both have greedy American owners. We aren’t that different when it comes down to it.
I think both sets of fans will voice their disapproval strongly with this as well. United’s most successful period as a club came in the Premier League, and we’ve been desperately chasing it for years. Now we’re going to disregard it for a quick cash grab?

No thanks.

Do we know who’s actually organising this? Who’s instigating it?
I heard it was Tommy Robinson. He kept saying "radicalize the moderates".

Someone recorded a video of him when he floated the idea apparently.

They can feck right off.

I hope the fans just refuse to turn up or watch on TV but I suppose that’s too much to ask.

I am disgusted by all the clubs involved in this. Not that it is surprising of course. Money talks, and greed is king :nono:

Most likely won't happen. Most top players will want to jump ship once FIFA threatens an international ban. Wait for Pogba's agent demanding he be released to Sociedad

FIFA have already said that they wouldn’t recognise any breakaway officially and they would deny players the chance to represent their country.
You’d imagine that the powers that be will be strong enough to stop something like this happening.
I am ashamed that we’re one of the clubs involved.

Americans trying to pull apart elite European tradition, for profit. This has to be petitioned, boycotted and all the rest.

I've been looking for a reason to stop watching football to be honest - far too much stress.
Especially in the days of social media now.

How dumb do you sound?

Southend United. Probably your typical Ingerlund thug who boos other countries national anthems in friendlies.
It is the fault of these "fans". You pour money into a club and league you have no actual affiliation with, leading to the disturbing centralisation of the sport which has led to the shitshow we have today.

If people poured money into their local clubs and leagues instead of going out of their way to pay for foreign leagues, the sport at global club level as a whole would be infinitely better off, and we would not have to deal with the bullshit we do today.

I mean, UEFA are to blame to a great extent too, but everyone knows that already and are happy to blame them. International "fans" aren't so keen about blaming themselves though the way they should.

The truth is though that the damage has already been done - any Super League is merely a mild divurgence from a path we are already on.

Wonder what reactions were like when the premier League formed.
