Pleased we won but the celebrations have been spoilt by the news of the European Super League. I'm pretty disappointed with the club.

5 pages after a win. Would be 15 if we’d lost. Glad we beat these cynical feckers. Hopefully they get relegated next season

Exactly. The Ole threads are suspicious by their absence as well :smirk:

Just the norm though. Decent today, plenty of chances and goals.

Dig up stupid!
Not a classic but precisely the type of game we've received criticism for in the past due to our inability to 'find a way to win'

Well today we did find a way and its great to see.

Mason showing great maturity and making the difference

We all know how Burnley play, and they are tough to beat.

BUT one thing that is rarely spoken about is how much of a set of diving, cheating bastards they are. Would make Porto under Mourinho blush.
Completely agree, very physical team that go over like an under 7s girls team.

It does look like we’re more able to break down these types of teams as of late. We didn’t look toothless upfront and chances were still being made. I didn’t feel too worried after they equalised and had a feeling we’d still get another goal.

5 league wins in a row and already at last years points total of 66. Let’s go for 80 points in these last few games.

To be fair, the ‘other’ news this evening if dominating everyone’s thoughts, I assume.
Agree. The implications of todays reports is certainly focusing my mind. Glad we won, but what is going to happen next, and how will it impact on the rest of the season?

Good win against a tough, cynical, dogged outfit that has caused us plenty trouble up to know. Great patience shown I thought. Good crtributions again by Greenwood, Rash, Cavani, AWB, Shaw,.

First time since the 1970's we've beaten Burnley home and away in the league and I'm seeing whining about the football.

I guess even in extremely rare events we can still find time to be whiny

The first half was boring as feck. The football was tepid, timid and slow.

Picked up in the second half. Disappointed we conceded so early after the first goal.

Overall we just about deserved to win it. Cavani 3rd goal was the nice icing on the cake.

3 points.

Entertaining, open match. The ref should have booked 2 or 3 Burnley players, Westwood and Tarkovski chief amongst them. Chris Wood bossed our CBs today. I don't watch Burnley except when we play them so I don't know if this was one-off, but that was great CF play from him.

Greenwood MOTM. Still not even 20 yet, what is his ceiling??

Glad Donny got an assist, happy birthday.

If he stays hungry and keeps improving? in 2-3 years time he's going to be world class.

Forgot to mention Henderson's torrid afternoon. He reminds me more and more of Joe Hart. The way he ran out three times to the edge of his box (and more) was brainless. If DeGea is leaving I'm not sure Henderson is good enough to be his replacement. I'd take Romero over him.

I really, truly hope these feckers get relegated. They're Stoke City on steroids but the media love them.

Any £80m CB that gets beaten for a header by a smaller player when he’s in front of that player would be getting called out. But Maguire seems to be immune.

Delighted for Greenwood and Cavani. Rashford, Pogba and Donny all got assists, though Bruno deserved to be on the list for that dummy.
Burnley are quite the unpleasant team. With their early crosses and Hail Mary in the box and then attacking the 2nd ball.

Again started slow in the first half and had to grind it at the end. Doing the double over them since the 70's is some positive.
Mason man of the match.

Who decided his price to be 80m? The price club A paid to buy you from club B is independent of you making mistakes occasionally. He has been a rock in defense this season and his fitness alone has been a huge reason for us being second in the league.

Absolutely true. I for one have never heard Maguire criticised on the Caf.
magdire is awful and it just sucks whenever there’s any press related to him

from the theatrical statements when he first got the captaincy, to most recently news that he asked Ole for another defender next season, specifically an English speaking one

somehow magdire just reminds me of brexit folk

Fair enough. You're obviously drunk. I like a couple myself on a Sunday evening.

Not ashamed to admit I went full on Keegan when we scored the second, I know they won't throw away the advantage but made me feel good

Price is often used to judge a player, above that the importance /role is used /end.

Oh my. So Maguire should never lose a header to a smaller player ever. Okay. There are many reasons why Maguire is the first selection by both Ole and Southgate. But you know better than both of them.

Great performance all round. The one main benefit I feel United have gained from the last three games is that it is evident the further away Martial is from the starting line-up the better off we will be! Better to start with 10 outfield players than just 9.

Lee Dixon down playing the ankle stamps by those dirty f'ers at the end, really pisses me off. Not as much as these super league arseholes but close.

4th place must surely be in the bag unless something catastrophic happens. I didn't get a chance to watch the game but at this point in the season it is about getting the win and building goal difference up. We did both, so regardless of how we played over 90 mins, this is a massive result against a team battling relegation and one that can often throw a curveball.

Since we beat Everton in early November, when we was 15th, we have played 26 games, won 17 (65%), drawn 8 and lost just 1. That is almost championship form, we have really grown this season and I do take my hat off to Ole for that. The gripes I had about him are being evolved, one that was evident today when he brought on Cavani at half time, quick sub to change the game. It is also the second time we have won 5 or more in a row on the league under Ole, the first time coming in 2018 when he first took over. I think Jose managed this twice too. I think we should land 80 points and finish second with the Europa League, that would reflect a great season and hopefully in the summer, we get a new CB.

The problem in the past 18 months, is not about inability to score, but about inability to defend

Fecking Burnley turning up for the match and Moss was shite in calling fouls for us. Burnley physical-ed our players like there’s no tomorrow and getting no cards from Moss. Easily throwing their body around and prancing like a pony when being challenged.

Good for Mason to find form around late stages of the league and europa. Hopefully we will pile more pressure on citeh and causing them to erupt and burst.

Was watching the replay of the goal we conceded.. Just as Maguire was about to jump, Tarkowski put his hand on Maguire's shoulder and stopped him from jumping..
We clearly struggle at defending set pieces.. and this is not to defend any of our players.. but surely that is a foul..

Not sure what you mean. Just because we decided to pay 80m pounds, it doesn't mean that he isn't allowed to make mistakes. He has made quite a few over the course of the league but so have other defenders. I find it appalling that his price is quoted each time he makes one. I can make a highlight reel of the best defenders in the league and each one of them have made their share of mistakes.

Overall though, he is solid defensively and never gets injured. It is such a relief to have him nail down one CB position because we have had to rotate CBs consistently since the Rio-Vida partnership got broken. He fills me with a lot of confidence.

Thought we started well enough but, Wood was a handful for us most of the game. Can't believe Ole was that proactive in making an attacking change so early. Was a good call to bring VDB on too considering Rashford was having a very good half - could have tried to make him ride it out.

Though have to wonder if we started with Fred/McT because it was necessity in that Cavani wasn't ready to start another game or that if he was playing safe to start.

Also, it will be interesting if Henderson's performance might see De Gea come back in next game. It was a really shaky performance by him. Is he trying too hard to show command

Stayed out the matchday thread but, on replays, was reminded of the goal that Maguire was denied earlier in the season. Often given but, think with so much going on, like Maguire, would have felt hard done if it had been given as a foul. Though does mitigate why Maguire wasn't able to challenge. Overall though we should have done better of attacking the ball.

I don't know if you heard, but something major has happened that revamped the sport that we all love.
