Jonathan Moss asked Pogba to stop taking the piss just because he tried Rainbow flick

Referees are there to enforce the rules. There is no rule in football against trying fancy tricks when you are winning. You can advise a player against being disrespectful with their words or behaviour but what they do with the ball is up to them. Would a referee be allowed to tell a team winning 8-0 to stop trying to score?

I normally reject any 'this specific ref is particularly bad or particularly biased against my club' nonsense, but the evidence against Moss is pretty overwhelming. Always awful, and we always get the rough end of his decisions.

There’s a weird cult in football that hate skills because they think it’s disrespectful.

I’ll never understand the attitudes in English football that doing tricks is considered a bad thing

I think they can. A quiet word in the ear of a player who is taunting already beaten opponents is good refereeing IMO. Obviously, that’s not the scenario here.
Or is it a bit soft thinking? In 5 years everyone will complain the game is too robotic. These are things that belong in football, coming from the streets.
Just because it's on live TV it doesn't mean it shouldn't happen.

Of course, if you take the piss like the guys in those african football memes, that's alright.

I mean I get if you're a Burnley player and see you see Pogba busting out flicks like that of course it's going to incense you and you're going to want to kick him. I guess what Moss was really saying is if you do tricks like that and incense the opposition you're bringing it upon yourself. Moss did give the free kick didn't he?

Moss isn't really the problem here, the problem is this seemingly unwritten rule that it's in poor sportsmanship for a footballer to express themselves like that on the pitch.

Having said that wasn't there a red card for a tackle on Nani years ago against Arsenal when he did the 'seal' trick?

Again, the emphasis on the wrong thing. Why do we just accept it that if you try a clever trick, some thug will attempt to end your career? Maybe we should stamp THAT out of the game, instead of technically proficient players entertaining people.
Ah the old "she was asking for it" defence. Absolute nonsense. Ref should be binned.

I don't disagree with the ref being terrible, but how exactly are you going to stop someone reacting to being mugged off? I'm condoning the reaction either, but it's just the reality. Unless you're all suggesting we just should deter people from this by giving them 5 match bans, I'm not really sure how you stop it.

I just think it invites trouble though. You can't be surprised if someone comes an cleans you out, and no one wants a pointless injury.
I agree with that, if you are prepared to do it, then prepared to be kicked, but then the player doing that should get yellow cards as you can't kick people.

Well, that's immediately a good idea. Red cards and lengthy bans for violent conduct.

Irrespective of the ref's opinion of whether Pogba was "taking the piss" he has to book the Burnley player for taking Pogba out.

So the ref should tell players what tricks and flicks they should or shouldn´t do.
He is an absolute disgrace the PL should demote this guy.

Moss should've booked the Burnley player and kept his mouth shut. He's completely out of line there.

Then again thinking back, did the Arsenal player get booked after kicking Ronaldo when he did those famous skills in the corner? I don't remember him getting booked.

No way, it’s not within the refs remit to tell players how to play the game.

I don't think there's a very objective measure though. Didn't Nani get sent off for violent conduct against Real?

To be honest I thought he did book him, but obviously not. That would be a start.

Is it possible he thought he was "taking the piss" by staying on the ground/arguing/time wasting?

That is obscene.

Literally what business is it of him whether a player does a skill or not? Bloke should be demoted to the Championship.

The whole PL deserves Super league for this alone. Bunch of incompetent cnuts delegating referees like that. Really shambolic state of things in the so called best and the most competetive league in the world with the same clown referees every week.

Of course it is. A good referee will be constantly talking to players. Part of their job is managing the game to avoid flare-ups, not just punishing transgressors after the fact.

If players is repeatedly saying or doing something that has no purpose other than humiliating opponents then it makes perfect sense for the ref to have a quiet word. Although, once again, I’m stressing that this isn’t what happened here.

I was thinking they wouldn't have the likes of Moss in that group!

Imagine him telling Messi this?

When we take off our rose tinted glasses off and turn events around. United 3 goals down, Burnley players doing rainbow flicks and passing the ball around the corner flag, then we won't be this pissed. It's football grow up. Of course, Moss is tits. All prem refs are.
You can be pissed off, it's natural but you cannot hack players to retrieve the ball and the referee should always book the players who go for those dangerous tackles made out of frustration

Mental, referee has no place in saying that.

It was also only 2-1 at that point and we were hardly battering them. If anyone has a right to tell Pogba not to be taking the piss it's our manager, not the fecking referee.

Pogba's response was perfect though - "What do you mean? I play football".

hmm that's just made me think... if this Super League wants to try and win some people over, doing something about the state of reffing would be a good place to start.

I assume the ref fully bottled the conversation Pogba then wanted to have? Why wouldn’t Moss then explain what he meant? Or can referees only work in passive aggression as they know they’re thick as a plank?

Moss was probably upset that he'd had to waddle all the way over to the corner. Fat cnut.

What the feck was Pogba doing that was even that fancy? He was keeping the ball in the corner... how is that taking the piss?

Seems petty, but I hope we report him or do something about that... for the betterment of not having Jon Moss ref games if anything else.

Genuine question, do you think Moss would have said that if it was good old Harry Kane down there? Or Phil Foden? And I'm not necessarily saying its a race thing, cos I bet he would have said the same if it was Bruno.
