Right, because until now his employer wasn't about to lose a lot of money. Don't listen to those hypocrites who all of a sudden take the moral high ground after wanking over City and Chelsea for a decade.
Even if the reason they are saying it are wrong it's still true and it's better it's highlighted now than never.

Because there's already the feeling the Glazers don't care about winning the title. They just want us good enough to make top 4.

We'll be in a situation where it doesn't matter where we finish in the PL with this Super League.
But Madrid, Juve etc are certs to qualify for CL every year and they take their league position seriously?
It just doesn't ring true to me

Because Manchester United don't belong in the EL, we should play CL football every year. End of. Real Madrid and Barcelona would never let that happen to them. We shouldn't pay for our management's incompetence.

But that's the whole point. If you're team and the people you employ are good enough you earn a place.

If you're just in a competition because you thing you 'belong' there, what do you think the chances of you winning that competition are?

Odd that it hasn't come up at any of the dozens of commentary jobs he's done at the stadium, then.

Hilarious that he's praising the suddenly money hungry scavengers in charge of City in that piece, too.
Be pretty odd to reference it every game to be fair. Most people probably aren't that bothered.

Has he ever had a problem with City? He's essentially doing similar at Salford.

This elitist attitude is everything that's wrong with football. We have no right to be in the CL every year neither do any other club.

Well City have done a lot of investment the local area which is far more than the Glazers ever had but your point it was he never mentioned it before when he had.

How much difference is it to the current Champions League? It's 80% the same teams every year now.
Every team is there by merit. They've worked to be in the Cl in some capacity.

12 teams of varying quality including midtable shite like Arsenal who won't be in the CL for two seasons running are guranteed membership regardless of how shite they are for 23 years.

We don't deserve to be in the CL every year when we've been fecking shit lately. How much of a clueless spoilt brat to be annoyed we're not in it every year.

As United have now changed their mind and not join the ESL, they have now changed their transfer window strategy to sign Joe Clothcap from Barrow, Winston Saltoftheearth from Stenhousemuir and Edward Truesupporter from non-league Widnes and will henceforth play their home games at Leigh Sports Village and take part in the Wetherspoons Watered down Bitter Cup instead of the Champions League.

Why even play games then? No need to play anyone outside top 6 since utd should be beating the mid table and relegation scrap anyway, why waste time on such games. Heck city should just stop playing anyone other than top European teams and may be liverpool because on paper they are clearly better than every one else end of.

I think the point is that the current premier league isn’t done on merit either. United, Chelsea and City are too big to ever go down.

My mates who support lower prem clubs just... don’t watch anymore. Why would they?
But they can go down. That is the most crucial aspect of this. "Too big to go down" isn't as bad as "impossible to go down." I'd rather have an unlikely scenario versus an impossible one.

I agree that there's issues relating to clubs doping up and becoming too big, but this competition is double whammy because not only does it exacerbate those issues of financial inequality, it also immunises them from performance related repercussions and even worse, takes away performance rewards and motivations for non-SL clubs who have been left behind in the trail of all this.

Why is it such a widely shared opinion if it's so stupid? It's really only logical.

This has the potential to be no more than a rich mans pre-season tournament for half the teams due to having to play games when they've literally nothing to play for because they're out of the "race" to advance to the knockout stages. I suppose local bragging rights against....Atletico Madrid?
Like I've said, the same 10-15 teams qualify for the Champions League as it stands year after year. All this would be doing is getting rid of the poorer teams and making it more competitive. I'm not agaisnt that aspect of the proposal. If you don't agree or have a different opinion, whatever but that's mine.

If we're shit we deserve to be in EL. You have to earn your place in the biggest competition.

What point is this trying to make?

Nights like that are what footballs all about. Hell, not performing and not getting to take part in nights like this is in a way what football should be about. I remember back when it was Van Gaals last season and we scored a late ish winner against Watford at home when we were chasing the top four, the feeling was amazing and it was gutting when we didn't make it in the end. With these changes all that is gone, it takes the emotion out of the sport.
Spot on!

Manchester United don't belong anywhere. They have to earn the right to play in any competition.
And lately, we have not performed well enough in any competition. Full stop.

What on earth are you on about?

That's the whole point of football. Nobody has a divine right to be in the CL, you have to win enough games to get there.

You have to earn it for feck sake.
Come one mate, we should be in the CL. Why should better teams qualify and not us?

I don't blame you for thinking about it this way, its how American sports work as well and its a fair enough opinion even if I disagree. To me, though, having to earn your place is a big part of what football is about, and the sad feelings you get when you're not in it are just as important and meaningful as the feelings you get when you get into the competition.

This is about billionaire owners annoyed their clubs can miss out on the Champions League if they have a bad season. That is it. It is about nothing more than that and they're willing to destroy their domestic leagues, cups, and all the other clubs in their countries for it. Billionaire owners that care nothing about the clubs they own or history of the game. But shitheads voting yes in this poll want to bend over and take it.

"Klopp has destroyed his owners on national television" - Neville

Did I watch a different interview? Is this maybe just Neville trying to get a narrative going?

Thought the Liverpool Leeds game would be free to air too, shouldve known better
I'm sure Sky would love to stream the entire broadcast tonight for free, suddenly they are batting for us fans after all, but they are frustrated by the terms of their contract with the Premier League.

Klopp looked like he wanted to say lot about this but couldn't and he looked uncomfortable. He was saying a lot but actually nothing. Have there been instructions from higher people?

One question: Who's going to buy the tickets to these matches? It's not going to be the Ultras and other vocal groups. And the average football fan won't travel to fecking Turin for a midweek matchday 3. It'll turn into the NBA in that regard. Rich people using these matches as backdrops to spend an evening and get sloshed, some noise if a wonder goal happens, then murmurs and loud background music again. It'll spread from the boxes to the stands.

He hasn't had a problem with any of this until just before we kicked off yesterday.

He's been part of Sky's pundit team for the best part of 10 years and had a weekly show TV since 2014 and a podcast for all of at least this season. You'd think it would have come up on the odd occasion during that time, especially given how passionately he's arguing about it this evening.

Are they the worst owners in football? No. Are they the best? No,’ Neville said in an interview with The Times. Ole

My biggest problem with the Glazer family over the past seven years is the campaign 2004-06 where Manchester United weren’t successful, Arsene Wenger came in with the Invincibles [Arsenal], Jose [Mourinho] came in [at Chelsea], that’s when there was a real hostility. ‘All of a sudden in 2006 to 2012, where we were getting to three in four Champions League finals, and winning trophies, it went quiet. ‘Then in 2014-15 when we started to get into a period of non-success again, it builds up again.

‘The idea of screaming about the Glazers every ten minutes, saying they are not good owners, doesn’t get us anywhere. ‘I’d love owners that pump every penny back into the club on to the pitch, that didn’t take out £20 million a year, or whatever they take out in debt against the club. ‘But I can’t do anything about it. Just stand there and campaign and whinge? Stand on the front of Old Trafford in front of Best, Law and Charlton with my placard up saying ‘Glazers out?’ ‘I’m not going to do that because I haven’t got the solution.’

The same core group of teams qualify for the CL season after season as it is.
Half of this SL 12 have been too garbage to be anywhere near CL football many years over the last decade, including United.

The CL winner gets 300% more prize money than a group stage competitor. The complete opposite of the prize structure in this SL.
