I think all this is part of a strategy for the Elite of European Football to abandon FIFA and make their own international confederation on their own terms and conditions.
These teams have money, power, political protection, high stakeholders, big economic firms backing them and even policy makers... Of course, they also have a lot of enemies as we have seen, but I don't think it's crazy to say FIFA cannot allow this to happen, as it will mean a menacing precedent for the creation of a new governing body in world football.

If anything the super rich love falling over each other to claim their legacy in the history of mankind. I'm sure a lot of it is vanity if nothing else. Watch how next he announces a part of the profits the league generates goes to non profit for the ultimate do good pat on the back/tax write off.

I've read a lot of criticism about Perez and while I can understand it, few people know about the incredibly determined person he actually is. When he says he wants to save football it isn't a catchphrase or empty platitude, the man means exactly what he says and if his past is an indicator of future actions then we will be thanking him down the line for doing exactly that.
I don't like to bring up my past as it's hard to speak about but one experience with Perez comes to mind. It was the middle of the Vietnam war and our company had been slowly reduced to just 6 men. We were barely functional and our objective had become terrifyingly simple...stay alive and get back before the Koreans finished us off completely. We were ambushed by a small number from the imperial army and during the firefight a grenade was rolled into our trench. Without a seconds hesitation Perez forward rolled onto it absorbing the full impact and losing all of his legs, knowing he would never walk again. He patched himself up and guided us back to Pattaya without mentioning his sacrifice once, stopping only to help those who were struggling to keep pace. When we reached our rallying point he turned around and began to walk back along the path we had come. We called out to him and asked where he was going and I'll never forget the sad smile on his face as he replied in perfect mandarin "When the war stops I will stop". My last memory was of him running back through that jungle alone.
Every league needs its whipping boys and this league will have two in Spurs and Arse. I wanna see their faces when either lose 5-0 to Madrid and then lose 1-0 to Wolves the following week. Bloody tin pot clubs.

I would say that his interview today has been seen as "look, hauling over the coals to Ceferin" "a visionary like Bernabéu".
That's sad to be honest. It feels like you have spent so long being untouchable as a club that some fans have lost sight of competition. I mean you bought Ronaldo off of us when we were objectively the better team at the time. Thats not meant to be an attack on Madrid in any way. You guys are an awesome club but I so much wish that the majority of your fans were opposed to this and understood that your problems were created by your owners. 600k a week to a player you refused to sell. I mean the reason United stooped so low isn't City or the oil clubs its our own bad decisions. We should have to deal with this and not get to pull the ladder up behind us.
The thing is will fans boycott Wednesday night football next season with Man Utd up against Barca one week, followed by Madrid the following week, followed by Juventus the following week and then Bayern the week after that? I doubt it...
The contracts have already been signed so this super league could very well go ahead as planned. We all know UEFA is rotten to the core, and maybe this power grab is a way of the biggest clubs saying to UEFA 'We're in charge now!'.
The fact that PSG haven't been invited to participate according to Florentino Perez says a lot. Perhaps the suspicion among the big clubs was that PSG were slowly having way too much influence in UEFA, brown envelopes exchanging hands left right and centre with UEFA's top dogs. UEFA has always been rotten to the core, so it seems ironic that the likes of Ceferin are trying to portray themselves as the Mother Teresa in all of this right now.

Firstly Ronaldo would have gone there for less salary probably such was his desire to play in a warmer climate in a latin culture similar to what he grew up in,
Secondly it wasn't Madrid that started paying players 600,000 a week first. I think you'd probably have to go back to when PSG signed Neymar as the moment suddenly the going rate for the worlds top players doubled overnight. going from maybe 300,000 a week to 600,000, because once Neymar is on that kind of money, then the worlds top 10 players want equal parity immediately. Maybe there's plans for a salary cap in the new super league, and maybe that's another reason why PSG haven't been invited. I think this new league could be a way from the big clubs to try to stop sugar daddy clubs like PSG from completely taking over and dominating due to unlimited resources.
I saw Florentino Perez at a grocery store in Madrid yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
Perez probably wants to be seen as a visionary. Talks about shorter game, futuristic stadium and the founding leader of a new European tournament is probably what he wants as his legacy. The fact that he wants to count 13 European trophy as ESL tells me he sees this tournament as the continuation of the premium European Cup. While Real and Barca still has sporting motivation, the PL club owners are just there for the money.
