Their opponents make the contests boring. It was a thrilling match when we and Chelsea beat them. We took the game to them.Yeah but City are boring
The gap below your post.. the white text..What? So many threads, so many posts, and I am slow reader, not my fault you all write quickly.
(Was looking forward to more meltdown at Spurs, so kinda sad)
Maybe this ESL should have stayed on for another day, maybe City would have lost. Meh.
I've actually just heard Ryan Mason is Spurs' caretaker boss! I thought he'd retired after a bad injury literally 20 seconds ago, how is he caretaking a PL club?Oh dear, just found out Jose has been sacked! Bloody hell.
Bored
My team? Oh wellYeah well done Cash for ruining any hope of your team having a go in the second half
Was talking about from his point of view and agree they were gutless but just know will be a different story when we playMy team? Oh well
I’d be ashamed if my team was this gutless
they needed to be braver, that city defense was shaky
We dominated City though, Chelsea were far better than them as well. They weren't really good games of footballTheir opponents make the contests boring. It was a thrilling match when we and Chelsea beat them. We took the game to them.
So Christmas present for all of us!Fraid not mate. He's here until December
Eh? I thoroughly enjoyed them.We dominated City though, Chelsea were far better than them as well. They weren't really good games of football
Not to mention that City often literally can't play on the counter, as about 95% of their opponents decide anything other than parking the bus is too risky. But somehow many people can't or won't grasp this fact. So they make the logical conlusion that the most productive, attacking minded, and technically brilliant team in the league is also the most boring one.Excitement can be found in other means than lung bursting counter attacks.
Yeah you knew when Sky flashed up that stat about Villa not dropping points from winning positions what would happen, then they have to compound it further by talking about Martinez having the second most clean sheets tooThe Villa goal after 20 seconds shouldn't cloud over how woeful they were in that match. I bet when they play United in a few weeks they play it like a cup final.
City did as they had to do, fairly clinical again with 2 goals from 3 shots on target and their winning goal was the result of awful decision making by the Villa keeper.
I always leave gap on purpose for people to see, surprised so many don't. I was bored, Villa did nothing. Disaapointed. The gap below your post.. the white text..
I would say spend less time under cover on other clubs fansites but I do like to see the rubbish they post.
Villa have been useless since Grealish got injured. I don't know why anyone thought tonight would be any different. Was this really the same Villa that fought for every ball, pressed like their lives depended on it and ran themselves into the ground when they played us?
Because City lost! Everybody enjoys watching big teams lose, its the excitement of seeing if they can come back that draws you in. City losing is a big reason why you picked those 2 games.Eh? I thoroughly enjoyed them.
But no one has given me a good definition of exciting football yet.
People actually think City play an entertaining brand of football?
Granted, oppositions sometimes get blitzed by them.
However I feel this is what I normally get when watching them. Tons of possession with limited penetration.
City has been playing a more conservative and pragmatic play style in most of their games this season, focusing first on controlling the game. It's a way to not spend too much energy, it's how City and Guardiola adapted to the COVID schedule. Besides, City started the season with serious defensive serious and the focus was on fixing them. One of their best matches this season was probably the first half against Chelsea in January.Seems to me they've been particularly boring this year.
I would like to compare this with Klopp's Liverpool. They scored 84 goals in the 2017/2018 season, 89 goals in the 2018/2019 season (in which they finished with 97 points) and scored 85 goals in the 2019/2020 season (in which they finished with 99 points)City has been playing a more conservative and pragmatic play style in most of their games this season, focusing first on controlling the game. City in the previous seasons were so spectacular and demolishing the opposition that Guardiola often got criticized for supposedly not resting his team enough and drain the players before the end of the season. City scored 106 goals in the 2017/2018 season in which they won with 100 points, best attack ever in PL history if I'm not mistaken. In the 2018/2019 season, they scored 95 goals and had 98 points, having the best attack again. In the very uneven and defensively fragile 2019/2020 season, City scored 102 goals and had the best attack despite only 81 points. In this season, they have 69 goals in 33 games so far. A significant drop on their goal scoring average.
Doesn't make a difference. These people made the same argument in previous seasons. Like: yeah, they're scoring lots of goals, but they pass around too much. They don't give away the ball enough, so the other team can't play, or something like that.City in the previous seasons were so spectacular and demolishing the opposition that Guardiola often got criticized for supposedly not resting his team enough and drain the players before the end of the season.

The only reason why they were exciting is because City played like shit.

It's just a question of aesthetics and taste.Doesn't make a difference. These people made the same argument in previous seasons. Like: yeah, they're scoring lots of goals, but they pass around too much. They don't give away the ball enough, so the other team can't play, or something like that.
MOTM knowing our luckThat halfwit Matty Cash had a solid game against us.
Considering that City is a more vertical team than Guardiola's Barcelona, I guess that you didn't enjoy Guardiola's Barcelona too. You simply aren't a Guardiola fan so. And considering that Spain was actually very boring, many people cheered when Bayern destroyed Barcelona in 2013 (though the team was past its peak at that point, specially Xavi) and when Holland destroyed Spain in 2014 (one of my favorite WC games ever). It's just a question of aesthetics and taste.
Give me all the stats you want, it's just not my cup of tea.
Yeah we know you can't help waxing lyrical over pep but any chance you could do it in the Man City thread, thank youGuardiola always

But I honestly love his teams. The Barcelona team of the 2010/2011 season is my favorite team ever.
I dunno about that. City are better than Chelsea and Brighton are a much better team than an Aston Villa devoid of Grealish. Why couldn't fecking City have been affected by the European Super League stuff like Chelsea were
Im not even sure why they were all for it, not like they are struggling for money. Pep needs some cash he just gets handed petro dollars, City spend like it's monopoly money. Just look at City's bench, a lot of those players walk into other teams in the top 4.Why couldn't fecking City have been affected by the European Super League stuff like Chelsea were
Ahhh but that team had Xavi, Iniesta and Messi not to mention Alves and Villa.Considering that City is a more vertical team than Guardiola's Barcelona, I guess that you didn't enjoy Guardiola's Barcelona too. Of course they were clearly superior, I would NEVER argue the opposite, and they are my favorite team ever. And Messi alone always spiced things up even for non tiki-taka fans.Ahhh but that team had Xavi, Iniesta and Messi not to mention Alves and Villa.
There's no comparison at all to this City team.

You are right... I think Chelsea will make top four at the end, but I believe Liverpool is dangerous close as well.Even if Leicester win today it is not over. We play both West Ham and Leicester. We are not going to draw out way to the top four though.
