Watching Cavani taking the back off the net, a la Mark Hughes. Greenwood with coiled springs in both feet, waiting to strike. Bruno's side foot passes. Even with a second string side, in a European semi final, we can still go up a gear and carve teams open. Of course they were going to throw the kitchen sink at us, they had to, but we had this game won a week ago so this was always going to be a case of damage limitation. We kept a 3 goal cushion, players were rested, and we are in a European final.
I would have to say, we have seen some awful United sides post Fergie. Fellaini assaulting people with his elbows. Phil Jones slipping over on his face and letting the opposition clean through on goal.
Despite this, there have always been green shoots of hope sprouting up with the academy players coming through, and I think we really have cracked that balance now with players who want and feel it, mixed with some genuine quality. We have signed some strong characters as well. This team looks proper decent. Pogba and Fernandes running the show. They look a like a team that are enjoying themselves, and we are winning in the process.
We are finally turning the screw on the Glazers, and things will eventually have to change for the better.
It's a great time to be a Manchester United fan.
