What do you call the opposite of a Midas touch? He has that and a lot of it

Quite honestly I'm tired already of him just kind of existing in games. Weak (mentally and physically), slow and timid. We need to sell him whilst he still has some believers.

Doesn’t do himself any favours.
In a game from a won tie where he gets so much space, he does nothing with the ball...

He doesn't even TRY. He does absolutely nothing when we're out of possession.

On the ball, even worse. One of the biggest cowards in existence. He's never seen a 5 yard backwards pass he didn't immediately fall in love with.

Just seems super happy to let every single game pass him by.

If we are going to play him on the wing don't bother playing him at all.

Amad should have played over him.

The ball is lava!

There’s a player in there but he needs to take more responsibility.

Why did he play on the left? I would have thought switching Pogba and VdB around would have made a lot of sense

He switch to middle after bruno is subbed. Still utter trashcan. Might as well sub in Ole who I think will do a better job than him now

I'm honestly really disappointed. He's really not taking his chances at all and it's making it hard to root for him.

So scared of the ball and doesn't take responsibility. Has talent, great football intelligence and awareness as well. He could be a decent player for us but not under Ole. We just don't play the " pass and move " or " brilliant runs to the box" kind of play.

He's too passive. He's given a chance to impress and hides most of the match. Disappointing match.
Exactly my thoughts as well. I still believe he has it but it’s worrying with players who don’t seize opportunities.

Poor game. I don't think the way we play suits him. He should be moved on.

Was better as the game grew on but his final ball was always either too long or too short

That being said his best 90 minutes for us? (Based on the assumption it's the only time he's actually played 90 minutes for us )

Silent abomination.
Think I remember telling you at the start of the season to give him a chance, after giving him a chance I've concluded he's shite.

What I don't get is how we've identified a player who's such a poor fit for our team, serious questions need to be asked of the scouts.

I think his mentality as someone said before would be the main issue.

Their 2nd goal was coming from him passing right back at to Pogba after receiving it while having no pressure on him at all.

Think he might need to rediscover things elsewhere I am afraid, happy for Ole to make the decision.

This is not an excuse, he played centrally a lot as well.

To be fair, he did get off some back heels, like in that one move where he found himself alone in the box, but his touch lets him down. Not sure if its confidence but that was really disappointing, like Pereira disappointing.

A complete nothing player.

Should have just saved the funds honestly.

Lingard is miles better than him and he was deemed not good enough.

Yeah I know mate. Absolutely terrible.

I was just highlighting we are opting to play a CM who isn't good enough to play there on the left wing over a very talented Winger who clearly couldn't do any worse.

In fact said winger scored a vital goal in this competition and hasn't got a minute since.

Was very fortunate to not get subbed off, which surely would have been the death knell for his United career.

He’s never going to be an asset under Ole. As he’s the manager for the foreseeable and is building an effective style of football, you sell him for whatever you can in the summer.

Lingard is 10x the player. Anyone imagine VDB doing Lingard thing in West Ham ?

Lingard died for this.
Lingard had that game almost every time he stepped on the pitch for us in the last two seasons.

People can talk about his mentality all they want, but he’s come from a system where he’s been playing short, triangle passes since the age of 7 or whatever, and then been given minimal minutes on the pitch - out of position.

Playing from the start in a near full strength team and still did nothing. If he can't perform in that lineup against that team he never will be able to.

Really odd to use him as pretty much a winger. If there's any chance of long term role for him it's at CM surely? Lingard is better in any other role.

He isn't an upgrade on Lingard or even Andreas. Should be moved on in the Summer, have seen nothing from him as a United player to suggest anything will change.

Every time he starts I'm thinking "Come on, Donny! Show us something." and every time the game just passes him by.

It's a shame but he's probably better off elsewhere.

Having said that, we've given worse players far more years than him so maybe give him one more season. I dunno, it's a hard call.

For someone who specializes in simple short passes, it was painful to watch him misplace several easy short passes.

All the evidence suggests that the reason Donny doesn't get more mins is because our starters are much better than him.

I'm struggling to see why Solskjaer would give van de Beek a run of games next season, unless forced to do so by injuries.

He’s shockingly bad. Makes you wonder how he made it to this level. People can point to him not playing in his preferred position all they want but come on he’s not even doing the basics right.

He doesn’t make any runs nor make himself available for passes, even when he gets the ball he 9/10 makes the wrong decisions. Worst of all I don’t see a determination and drive from him to secure a place in the team. Totally absent!

We’ve got quite a few dross in our squad but Christ he’s one of the worst. Best to ship him off in the summer, should there be the possibility.

Gets a hard time on here and it feels like alot of fans want him to fail.

Prior to today his last handful of performances have been very positive.

I feel though that every time he gets minutes that everyone's expecting something spectacular and he's coming under alot more scrutiny than any other player at this club.

I really hope Donny gets a good pre season with plenty of minutes and proves alot of you wrong next season. I think alot of the criticism on here is very unfair.

Contrary to some others I didn't think Donny was that bad. He had a few nearly moments, where he was part of moves that would've been memorable had they come off. Was decent without being top drawer. His performance didn't suggest he should be starting any time soon. However, there has been a visible improvement in his play since the last international break. Hopefully it continues and he eventually starts looking like the player he was at Ajax.
