Film Cameron's Titanic is the best film in the past 25 years

I’m still perplexed by his multiple Avatar sequels. Clearly it was an incredibly successful film - but driven by the 3D fad at the time. I don’t see any demand for the sequels.
There is certainly no demand from a story perspective. Just reading the premise for the first sequel, it just sounds like more of the same - good guy blue native Americans vs. bad guy capitalists. Incredibly boring. They would have to launch a massive marketing campaign, and probably tout some kind of new amazing technology to get anywhere near the box office of the original (similar to how The Hobbit played on the 48 fps to create hype). It's not going to be enough though.

Bloody hell...

Come to think of it, Titanic doesn't even have the best 'sappy, cheesy, crying white woman tragedy' song! Pearl Harbor is admittedly a worse movie by practically every metric, but I actually prefer this over that Celine Dion song:

I think I would rather listen to Seal's Batman Forever single Kiss From a Rose on loop than watch Titanic.

I was just thinking recently about how extremely talented James Cameron is. He can draw (he drew the portrait of Rose that Jack is drawing in the movie). Two of his films are in the top 3 highest grossing movies of all time. He built full size to scale titanic replica for the movie from scratch. Holds the (joint) world record for deepest depth dived in a submarine.

This was a great tune, as was U2's Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me off the same soundtrack. Film was average though.

Oh yes, he's a extremely talented film maker. Absolute egomaniac, mind.
Still think the original Terminator and The Abyss are his best films, slightly undecided on Aliens and T2 though I admire the world building aspect of them both.

Seems utterly obsessed with these AVATAR films of his.

Worse than average, to be fair.
There's some decent shots in the film and I like the colour scheme of the general movie, its just practically everything else which is a issue.
Though I do have the unpopular opinion that Kilmer is/was a decent Batman. Had the jaw line and his voice, which seems like a odd positive, fitted the caped crusader.

I don't have it in my top 25, probably not even in my top 100.

Really? Tbh I haven’t really watched him in interviews and stuff so I don’t know how he comes across haha

With how well the first one was received, they're basically playing with house money and studios are going to let Cameron do whatever he wants with his proven track record of getting people to watch his movies.

The only thing I've consistently read and heard regarding the next AVATAR film is there's going to be some epic under water stuff.
Not read anything with regards to the narrative.

I saw a censored version of Titanic on the television. Had no idea there were tits involved until I was a man.

Next year will be 25 years since its release. I can't think of a better film over that time. Seriously.

There may be films I enjoyed more on first viewing that I'd never watch again, but there's nothing close to a film I can come back to with no 'i've seen it'. It's fantastic.

To be fair, Kate's tits were nice.
Boogie Nights was better for them though.

the question is whether he and the film series are relevant anymore. There’s a big chance neither are.

It was the only scene that got me through the bloody thing.
Incredible how overrated it is. Bourgeoisie chick falls in love with working class lad for a romantic weekend then ditches him because she didn't want to share the fecking plank.

Father and Sound of Metal are better movies and they were released a few months ago.

At least the last thing he did before dying was bang a Bourgeoisie chick on a big feck off boat. There's a lot worse ways to go.

Obviously not, but closer to the truth than hipsters saying it's garbage. It's obviously a well made movie with some fine performances.

Also, the caricature Italian cracks me up. Especially his end.

The best film of the last 25 years is clearly There Will Be Blood. No further discussion needed.
