Watched half an hour of someone playing this, and for some reason it made me feel properly motion sick. Wasn't sure about picking it up before, but I'm not sure I'd last an hour without dying - in the game, and in real life.
They already have a mod to adjust the FOV to help with that; but that’s only helpful if you play on PC.

An hour and half into it and I'm glad I didn't pick hard mode. Getting back into first person RE games is weird and I've already wasted tons of ammo and accidentally hitting the button to heal when there's no need

I've had fun so far; it's been pretty manic at times. I wouldn't say it's been scary but it is tense.

Starting now, bottled it and gone for standard difficulty.
Was about 6 hours in watching it and was going to recommend the hard difficulty.

Once you get after an early hump (a big hump) it gets easier. You can change it unlike some sites are saying, but only on the death screen. And that may only be a one-time pop-up option in that first chapter or something, mind.

I'm loving Lady D. About 3 hours in. One scene made me jump and then burst out laughing

Enjoying this more than I thought I would. It kind of is RE4 meets RE7.

I think i'm about 3 hours in and I think it's good so far. It's not quite as horror as Re7 but it has a good balance so far. It looks pretty good on a base PS4 as well.

Oh wow, that was a fantastically creepy level. Good stuff. You’ll probably know which one I’m talking about when you get there...

What are people spending their Lei on? Don’t want to waste any
I'm struggling with that; I'm not good at making these decisions. I've spent the most on the handgun upgrades but I probably should have put more effort into the shotgun.

Will be nice if these carry on into a new game plus on hardcore difficulty

So far (just beat the Castle boss) you seem to come across plenty of Lei/Treasure so I stopped worrying!

I think I'm almost finished. I think it's a great game, but I think it's too short. I preferred Re7 length even though it dragged a bit at the end.

Loving this so far...far more than I thought I would. It's absolutely bat shit crazy and totally absurd but a lot of fun.

Only defeated two of the big bosses but if it keeps this up I think it's better than RE7. Definitely better than the RE3 remake which was ok/decent.

I agree. Enjoying what I’ve played so far, but

disppointed with how short lived Lady Demitrescu’s appearance was. Thought she’d play a much bigger part in the game.

Agree. Very surprised they let that happen. Felt like a bit of a wasted opportunity.

Completed it earlier.

Overall a really fun game I thought! Enemies were well designed and Mother Miranda and her ‘children’ were all really well done. A shame Lady D was dealt with so early in the game as I felt she was probably the strongest of them all.

Did go full on action mode towards the end, especially Chris’ segment, but don’t think it negatively impacted the overall feel of the game. There were also some nice nods back to previous games in the series.

Story wise was surprising with the revelation Ethan died in Resident Evil 7 - wonder how this will impact RE9, I’ve read 7,8 and 9 are all planned as a trilogy of games.

Heisenberg’s boss form was disappointing though, was hoping for some kind of Snake v Ocelot duel. Also item management was a complete non issue. Would have liked that to be a bit more difficult, part of the fun in Resi is being limited to what you can carry, all adds to the tension.

All in all a very good game. Not arsed about the relatively short length, I like that about RE games as I enjoy multiple play throughs. Definitely think it was an improvement on RE3. Assuming RE4 Remake will be the next in line?

11 hours in and I am loving the game, I am usually a fan of old school RE games with less action but this was great so far, superior to also great RE7 to me. And I don't know what was that about game being 8 hours long? I am at around half of the game with 11 hours so far, on Hardcore difficulty. This will be longer than RE7 for me on first run, not shorter.

All in all, give me great level design with good map and puzzles, I am in! Everything else is a bonus, reading complaints how story is cheesy and with plot holes...this is a RE game, of course it will be cheesy and plot holey.

How have you found hardcore? Did my first playthrough on Standard and it took me 9 and a half hours. Can imagine a few parts of the game being difficult on hardcore - and then there’s a difficulty level above that for us all to enjoy.

It was a bit hard at first, especially at the Lycan village attack at beginning until I got used to one hit putting you at Danger health basically, after that, it was challenging but not frustrating hard or anything. Enemies were kinda bullet sponge-y until I upgraded damage on the weapons, after that it's much better.

I am playing on PC with Mouse, I would probably waste a lot of ammo trying to get head shots on controller with how dodgey some enemies are.

Yeah aiming can be hard at times, especially with those flying enemies!

Please tell me it doesn’t get much more unsettling than the doll-maker section? Shit your pants scary

That's definitely the scariest part of the game. Starts to become more of a shooter as you progress.

Just finished it, thought it was fantastic. Now on to Mass Effect next weekend

I was skeptical but wow! really liked that. Felt like a strange tribute to all the other games in the main series (one section even reminded me of 6 because it was that kind of ridiculous). Took 12 hours and I get the sense I missed a few items.

The best non-remake RE since 4 in my opinion and a better game than 7 (which I also liked)

The biggest mystery in this game is!

When Luiza's home caught fire and you get in the truck, how the feck did that truck flip and then flip back on itself? :D

Played the demo at the weekend and was tempted to buy it, but stories of you guys completing it in 12 hours puts me off.

I want more gameplay for £60.
To be honest, RE games are all about replayability, RE7 for example on Madhouse difficulty that that is unlockable, had a remixed monster and item location so the second run feels fresh, which I think is the case in this one too, then the item shop with new weapons to buy, items etc like in all RE games.

RE2 Remake was how long, 7 hours or something? But I had over 100 hours in that game. But fair play if it is too short for people that just want to go through it once and be done with it. I am a RE guru myself and there will be plenty more hours of gameplay for me after first run.

It'll drop in price fairly quickly, they always do. You can even get it for a lot cheaper most places now if you look around.

I finished the game yesterday. A solid 8/10. I feel the first half of the game is definitely better than the second. In the end it's definitely Re7 meets Re4. I still wish it was longer though. It felt more superficial than some of other Re games. I just found out on my 2nd playthrough that you get to keep the weapons and items from the first.

My first impressions are it's really going to be good. Looks absolutely beautiful on the Series X too
