Likes Scrubs but thinks AD is 'ridiculous'?

And that's not a dig at Scrubs.
I mean in the sense that most characters in Scrubs are somewhat relatable, whereas most characters in AD are a bunch of eejits. I do like it as well though. Some of the jokes are all time greats. Anustart will have me in stitches until I die.

Father Ted was great but The IT Crowd got old very quickly. I gave up before the end of series 3.
You've missed a few good episodes then. It is a very mixed show in terms of quality though, I agree. Some great ones (The Work Outing), some proper dross (Men Without Women).
I'd definitely recommend The Final Countdown and Bad Boys from series 4, and half of The Speech from series 3 is great, but ruinied by the awful storyline with a trans woman (which led to the fall of Graham Linehan).

Arrested Development, Peep Show and The UK Office are probably the god tier. Then just below them I'd have The US Office, Parks & Rec, Extras, Community.

I also have a massive soft spot for Silicon Valley but I don't think it was as consistent as the others.

EDIT: Oh and I guess Rick & Morty technically counts too, so yeah, stick that in there.

AD, it is good but it is not as good as Curb.

Curb has always felt a little bit too contrived for me. I know a lot of AD and Curbs humour is based off of misunderstandings but it doesn't feel as contrived in AD, I guess because it lets itself be a bit more silly?

The speech was the last one we watched. Didn't enjoy series 3 much before that and that episode was appallingly bad.

I thought You're the worst was also quite good. At least the 2 seasons I've seen. What happened to that anyway?

Absolutely. Arrested Development, Scrubs are favourite of all time. A.D for the sheer ingenuity and scrubs for the sheer wackiness.

Finally, someone else gives it a shout.

EAAAAAAAAAAAAGLE!
"Hey everybody, soda chugging contest!"

Currently revisiting Scrubs whilst I've got Disney+ for a few months. I'd not watched it in over 10 years. It's aged rather well, but it's striking just how similar it is to Brooklyn 99. JD and Jake are essentially the same character. The use of the cutaways is near identical, and a lot of episodes have similar endings, where some sort of moral obstacle is overcome. My gf loves Brooklyn 99 but hates Scrubs, which I can't understand.

Brooklyn 99 doesn't have a Hooch though. Hooch is crazy.

No mention of The Larry Sanders Show. Shame on you redcafe, shame on the lot of you.
Probably caused by it being next to impossible to stumble upon nowadays. You can't find it streaming on any of the major platforms and the DVD has been out of print for ages. It's an incredible show, but you really have to seek it out. Even moreso for Garry Shandling's previous sitcom, which goes for £200 per box set if you can find it.

I never finished scrubs so started a rematch and am no at season 8. The quality has nose dived dramatically.

Yeah, I've just finished rewatching Scrubs, holds up really well.

Brookylnn 99 is great too. Didn't watch that all the way through though, will have to pick it up again. I love Terry Crews.

I'm confused how you can have both of these two on the list, but not the US Office, given it was inspired by the first one and written by the writers and creators of the second one. Do you not like it?
As someone else said above, I stopped watching early on because it was so similar to the original. I know it detoured wildly after season 1 but I never went back and finished it all. Someday...

Scrubs is the only answer.

Their episode revisit podcasts are great as well.

Edit: The last season is not canon and does not count

Didn't realise that, no wonder people turn to piracy.

Hopefully one of the streaming platforms picks it up because it's some of the best writing TV has produced of any genre.

It was more than 25 years ago.
Father Ted and Blackadder have been mentioned, plus it didn't finish until 98 so was still being made in the last 25 years :p

It's even difficult to pirate to be fair! And nobody has done an HD version as far as I can tell. Apparently it was on HBO Max when that launched, but nobody seems to have done a rip of it. It seems ridiculous to me that HBO guard that show so tightly and as a result nobody can watch it

I thought the same thing but someone duly corrected me in The Larry Sanders Show thread I recently created.
