Repeating myself, but I still can’t get over how accurate he is with both feet. Like he senses nothing else but the available space between the posts.

Lovely goal. Such a natural finisher.

Yep, I found him to be heavily involved tonight and really taking the mantle as our leading forward.
Little confused as to why someone has suggested he wasn't involved enough. Quite the opposite in my opinion.

He's an even better prospect than I thought. Superb decision making and ability on the ball, also became quicker lately. Will be a 20+ goals per season machine from next season onwards.

Just wait until he has the strength to physically bully defenders. He’s gonna be an absolute nightmare for opposing sides.

Give him another year to learn under Cavani and he'll be our main striker. He's brilliant.

He isn't far off, they found it really difficult to take the ball off him today.

Can't believe I would say this but I would have preferred him against Liverpool than Rashford

I find more and more that people think it should be like Fifa. players touching the ball every minute, getting shots and passes all game long etc.

It makes me laugh when people keep talking about people not passing forwards constantly too, when sometimes it’s just not possible.

What a player, so good in front of the goal and also his overall game is so good.

The best on the pitch today, he needs to work on his aerial game though. That Telles cross should end in the back of the net.

Great, as usual. His technique never fails to impress. Such a smooth player in all aspects.

Really stepped up to his role tonight as the 'senior' forward. Did more tracking back than I can ever remember from him and seemed determined to lead by example. Maybe Cavani's rubbing off on him.

Puffed his chest out and led the line well, cracking goal and looked every bit the star he is, special talent.

That was the thing that stood out, even though he is barely older than the 2 young wingers he carried the air of responsibility well.
That was my feeling too, and Ole highlighted that after the game so he seems to agree. Impressive performance in that regard.

Class goal, should be a regular starter for us at the minute. You can see he's got it all to be a really top class player.

He looked like a first teamer always does when put out with the reserves in a cup game. Different level to the rest of them.

That performance against Leicester at #9 was already better than how Martial performs there. Granted it was only a game for now, but its very encouraging. Great hold up play, link up, movement, pressing and of course the clinical finish. Kudos to the kid.

But look at the team he played in. He should start instead of Martial, no doubt.

His finishing is really special, and so difficult for the keepers to read. There is no time to position and then he can finish with both feet, so his body does not need to move much either. I hope he keeps his feet on the ground and just keeps pushing

In the first half, that was his best performance as a no 9 for us. Played well. He’s not ready yet clearly, but another year of Cavani takes him closer.

The goal was terrific. Showcased his technical talents, but also his awareness of the space. He saw there was space to the right and knew he had the opportunity to score from there. I doubt any of our other strikers would have tried that on their weak side. Also, how crazy is it that he seemed like a veteran out there? He took so much responsibility, but is still only 19.

Hope he gets more chances to play centrally next year. He has been great on the right, and he is obviously under less pressure there as well, but his future should be as our main forward.

Honey, marzipan and bananas, with lashings of butterscotch, raisins and a delicate hint of mocha. Sensual and silky smooth with a perfect finish. Greenwood summed up nicely there by the good people at Jack Daniels. They don’t mention both feet etc but I think they pretty much nail it.

His last 2 goals showcased that awareness of space. Impressive.

He looked a different player last night, like he relished having the responsibility of being the more senior player. It was a really good sign and hopefully, he can that attitude forward for the rest of the season.

Looking over my shoulder.
He looks quicker at the moment. Etherington didn't stand a chance trying to track him when Greenwood ran with the ball. He also has very good close control at high speed.

He also looks to have a knack at making the goalie look to make a mistake, but he is so difficult for the goalie because you can't really expect when he is going to shoot or which corner he is going to shoot in. Therefore Martinez looked to make a mistake, but that was only because most strikers would have tried to put it into the farthest corner. Likewise, Schmeichel looked to make a mistake, but he used his right when it would almost have made more sense to use his left. This really sets him apart as he doesn't have to angle his body to take on a shot. Compare him to Iheanacho when he was clean on goal, he adjusted his body, and DDG could read and reach to the shot.

Far too much was made of the GK's part in his goal last night taking away from how class it was from Greenwood, the feint to get past Sounchooooo and then the finish right in the corner

Always said on here and get blasted for it... he’s a bigger talent(not the same level of hype) than even Rooney

Anyone think we might put our faith in him to be our 9 starting from next summer? Another year of physical development, another year of Cavani classes, and we might put our faith in him instead of splashing on Haaland/Kane.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that we will only get either a striker or Sancho in the next couple of years. If we get both, where does that leave Greenwood long term?

Even if we get Kane and wait for him to decline, do you really keep a kid with that much talent as a back-up for 5/6 years? There’s no way he would accept it either and I highly doubt we would be willing to risk letting him go.

If I were to bet on it, I’d say we will get Sancho this summer and keep that 9 spot ready for Mason to take after Cavani goes back home.

I wouldn’t bet against it. Mainly because I think Greenwood has absolutely world class potential and by that I don’t mean Rashford or Martial potential, but absolutely sky high, RVP, Aguero, Rooney potential. He’s got pretty much everything you want in a player and really most of his weaknesses can be put down to inexperience and not being fully physically developed.

He’s already shown since his introduction into the first team that he can rapidly improve his all round game and as this season has progressed, he’s got better and better. I’ll echo what others in the thread said yesterday, that was a coming of age performance from Greenwood where he stood up as the senior player and scored a brilliant individual goal (at the grand old age of 19).

Back to your point but the re-signing of Cavani means it’s very unlikely we now sign another striker this summer. It’s then up to Greenwood to prove next season that he’s continuing his progress and he needs to have some stand out performances in the striker position next season. I’d also like to see him goal output increase further because he’s clearly the best finisher at the club.
