I actually agree re last night. When he's on that panel they used to do (pre covid memories) he's just an obnoxious twat but last night he was about as fair a pundit as I've heard in ages. Usually I hate him but he was right for the keeper incidents and also generally ok through the game, even offering some insights into the players he knew from SHU as well.
Don't get me wrong i used to get really annoyed by him, but i listen to the bbc sport podcasts which he is on frequently and i actually find him quite funny now, especially the banter that goes on between him, Mark Chapman and Micah Richards.

Between him and Jenas commenating on our last 3 games I've resorted to using the mute button for the first time ever. Truly bland automatons who've got great PR agents.

I saw him on some show on BT totally digging out Robbie Savage who had given a very reasonable answer to his question. I think his act is to be an edgelord cnut.

I’m biased as he was one of my favourite players. He wasn’t that good when he started in the media but now I like him and he’s good at taking the piss out of people, makes Savage bearable by ripping him. “He’s obnoxious” get a grip of yourselves.

What did we do to this cnut? The way he was slurping up Leicester was cringeworthy and the he was downplaying any of our young players was pathetic.
We did chant about what a cnut he was whenever he played us. I remember being at OT in 95 when we trounced them 4-0 and Sutton got a straight red. Glorious day.

He’s just another in a long list of awful people BT Sport hire.

Didn't he once earn a penalty at Old Trafford playing for Norwich in 93/94 when Pally brought him down

He scored 3!

People talk about Sheva and Torres but Sutton is up there (or down there) on the worst flop signings for Chelsea.

Probably meant his one league goal.

I don't know if he's really a miserable cnut or if it's just an act to wind people up. I remember him saying Ronaldo deserved red for violent conduct or something for ruffling someone's hair in a CL game. I switch the TV or stream off when he comes on.

Who on earth at BT thought, I know, let's get Sutton in.

He's an utter plank.

At least the likes of Jenas are pretty harmless with their inanity.
This guy makes Keown look charming.

The guy got on my tits so badly I had to turn the commentary off. He refused to apply any context to Leicester dominating midfield and just seems to think that making banal statements forcefully gives them extra weight. The guy has nothing worth listening to.

I couldn't believe it was him until it popped up on the screen.

48 years old but he sounded like a dithering old man. He makes even fecking Lawrenson sound sharp.

Indeed! You’re right @croadyman. That jolted some ancient memories in my brain. Back when he was at Norwich in 1993/94 he caused us some problems in a 2:2 draw:

Sutton scores around 11:45 and wins the penalty from Pallister around 16:45.

iirc we were linked with signing him that summer but he chased the money at Blackburn where he hooked up with Shearer and they won the league.

Dreadful dreadful commentator

As if Savage on full trolling mode and Lescott representing City wasn't bad enough we had this idiot on commentary

Don't mind Savage when he is doing Utd games in Europa but you could tell that Rio was ticking

All this attention!...Sutton will be 'over the moon', more bookings for punditry sessions now he's proved he can upset United fans.

Bitter cnut he is, like most, monatone voice , grates you. Nearly as bad as Owen on Commentary. As for Savage I think Rio wanted to land one on him , hes a bit of a tosser old Savage.

I don't mind savage, he knows how to wind Rio up, remember when he got him sent off at Blackburn?
Sutton is a wanker though.

Much prefer Savage, he's a bit of a parody of himself but on the whole I don't mind him really. I think Sutton is the worst of all of them, I'd take a panel of Souness, Owen and Jenas over him.

Savage is fine - it was just Rio and Savage having some banter - and it was evident in one of Rio’s podcasts. Didn’t see much wrong with Savage when he did the Europa games but my goodness Sutton is awful

Sutton is one crap commentator; he's so negative. I turned off the sound as I found him so dull. He dislikes united. He demonstrated his limited intellect with his continuous stating the way we play football. I like Savage; he seems to know the game, he appears to do some research highlighted by some of his comments.

I've grown to like Savage during his time on BT.

He clearly has a lot of respect for the club, always speaks very highly of our youth setup. That may change when his son leaves though.

He's a bit of WUM, in a hamless way.

I couldn't believe it was Chris Sutton on commentary. Sounded like some old fella. Really, really bad.

The worst of the lot, fecking Jenas. An obnoxious arsehole whose ego has clearly been inflated to dangerous levels by his constant air time. Clearly loves the smell of his own farts and has a weird arrogance about him as if he won anything of note in his playing career.

Scholes, Hargreaves and Owen have the shared charisma of a sausage roll.

Rio turned to him at one point and said it's not a comedy show!

This was after trying to put him in his place by remarking he was like a headless chicken when he played.
So awkward to watch that. I always thought Rio and Savage were mates too for some reason.

Pretty cringe alright. I don't watch much of BT so not exposed to Savage very much but that was the best stream I could find and for some reason it didn't cut off immediately after the game.

Yeah, same reason I watched it on there. Can't say it made me want to rush out and sub.
