This.

Painkilling injection & a good wrap, he’s all good.

Will be tender after.
Yep. I've got chronically dodgy ankle ligaments from an old break and have done them numerous times, if he's able to walk on it immediately after he should be out for a week or two and then be able to play when it's wrapped up properly. Keep the swelling under control and any pain will go pretty quickly once the adrenaline starts.

I think we will see him in the final but then be in and out of the team in the Euros.

Wait, what ? I thought he was shit after reading the Caf.
After watching Bailly play I can´t wait for him to come back.

Same. I still suffer frequent avulsion fractures but can play on them pretty soon after.

Laypeople with chronic issues also don’t have the same rehabilitation care that professional athletes receive.

My surgeon always told me the most important thing was stopping the swelling immediately after. A wrap can help your ligaments keep everything in the right place but if it's swollen and bleeding there's not much you can do to get rid of that. Maguire will have had ice and anti inflammatories on it within minutes.

Guess we'll only know on the day of the final. Even if he is fit, its unlikely that it'll be announced.

My worry is the boot. If you completely immobilise any joint the muscles/tendons will start to weaken pretty much immediately and can take weeks to get back to full strength. If he’s not fully weight bearing without that boot in the next few days then there isn’t a hope of him playing in the final.

With any ankle sprain of severity, one’s ankle wouldn’t be able to be bearing the full weight of the body within a few days without pain / weakness.

He won’t be full strength for the final, but it’s not out of the question that he would be 50 / 60 / 70% recovered in the ankle. That should be enough to wrap it up, take a shot, & put in a shift.

At this point they'll do anything to help accelerate the healing process. Just because he's in a boot now doesn't mean it's game over.

I do suspect though he'll probably miss the final, won't want to risk the Euro's either if he's not 100%
He'll want to risk the Eruo's 100%

Winning an actual trophy for a club as the captain, that's what he should be aiming for.

Can imagine he will risk it all to make the fans happy.

If Harry has the injury they are saying, absolutely no chance of making the final - and he can probably forget the Euros too. It's not something that can really be treated; it just has to get better by itself.

ligament damage....just can't see him making the final if he's stretched the ligaments from the bone. He'd have been better off hurting his ankle as you could at least tape it or wear a protective strap and probably been able to play. Gutted for the lad as he's been brilliant this season for us.

Love it when all the medical experts come out
Always the same cycle.

‘I/my mate had a similar injury once and you can suffer from it for the rest of your career’

or, following 2 week diagnosis:

‘He should rest for the next 6 months so that it can heal properly’ and talk of ‘rushing him back’.

If the ligament injury is light you'd imagine it's 2 weeks tops if Ole thinks he can make the final otherwise he'd have said he's out for the season

He won't play again this season. Allows Bailly to get himself sent off 5 minutes into the EL final instead.

How else is the ankle hurt if it’s not ligament damage (outside a knock)?

That’s exactly what he will do if he goes, a strap / wrap with a painkilling shot.

If it is a bad injury, the positive for us selfish United fans is that he'll not go to the Euros, and get some rest. He's played a shitload of football in the last 2 years.

But I'd also rather he was back for the final, and be as close to 100% fit to play. Not sure how likely that is.

Yep. The grade of the strain is key. Boot is a precaution so that he doesn't aggravate it. They'll check him in about a week and hopefully he's good.

I hope he plays in the final and goes to the Euros. I always want our players to take part in international tournaments unless they are coming from a long VvD like injury.
Thankfully top 4 is secured otherwise I would have been really nervous.

Fear not. We will be fine in the final with Lindelof + Bailly or Tuanzebe, as long as McT & Fred sit in front of them.

Bailly will get injured by leaving the bus. Plus he is an accident waiting to happen, same with Tuanzebe.
