Is Jadon Sancho really worth the 100 plus million fee?

well he can go be number 9 at another club if he wants
I think he will be in summer 2022, unless he finally fulfills his potential next season. With the top striker merry-go-round (Haaland, Kane, Mbappe, Lewa etc.) looking set to go down next summer United will likely need to sell someone if they want a top #9 and also hope to bring through one or two of Amad/Pellistri/Mejbri/Shoretire/Elanga. Obvious candidates would be Martial & James and Martial should have more value on the market.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Thing is, it's a number for the campaign (that's the way I see it) and Martial isn't going to be our 9 next year unless Cavani gets injured. You can argue Greenwood has made a case to be central just as much as Martial would when fit.
If Martial can get back into the form he was last season he'll play just as much as the aging Cavani. Also shirt numbers aren't just a number for that season; players generally stay with the same numbers (both for themselves and for the fans who bought those shirts) unless they are upgrading to a more prominent number. It'd be bad man-management and bad for morale to strip players of their numbers unless those players really aren't in the plans at all.

For 100m euros I'd rather just play Greenwood on the Rw, and sign two very good players instead. Could get Bissouma and Saint-Max for example with that.

I just think 100m is obscene for Sancho would actually bring to us. He's good, but he's not that good.

They both would have to be 100% hit in order to even come close Sancho's potential and United's benefit of having him. I get your point though, splashing 70-80m in one go could easily deplete the budget.

I always thought it was unlikely last year. Cause we would come up with he money.
On the number front, it is likely they will just tell him to wait a year for Cavani to leave. Ole is not Mourinho.
Will probably be similar to Ronaldo/Raul situation.
What number did Ronnie have originally?

He's a sensational player and will improve our side. We aren't signing a striker, so we should have the funds available to get this over the line, if we really want to.

Salahs future there is reportedly up in the air this summer so I wouldn't be surprised if they were also interested

Romano just repeats what he reads in the papers and pretends it's his insight. And then repeats it over and over as if he had any updates from his nonexistent sources

Romano knows shit to be honest .
He's broken a couple of pieces of late, I think like the Cavani contract signing likelihood being greater, and then him signing the contract hours before it was announced.

He is speaking a bit of obvious things here though, so it's not really coming across like he has inside information on Sancho for now.

Rooney started off as #8 and then took the #10, if Sancho comes he might get the #8 as I think Mata will be off in the summer.

James needs to go. I hope the club is ruthless enough for that. But Sancho comes in and I don't see how he would play at all. Even he has to realise he's going to get little play time and push for a move. Pogba/Rashford/Sancho/Martial should all play on the left before him. Sancho/Greenwood/Rashford/Amad(for his development) should play on the right before him also

At least with him there are teams that are interested in getting him so moving him shouldn't be a problem

€85m = £72.8m Sounds about right to me.
If I were Ole I'd sell Martial, VDB, Dalot - should get around £70m for those three and Sancho will effectively be free. Easy game!

edit - forgot about Lingard that should be another £30m to the pot.

Every time people start debating Romano, it just ruins threads. If you don’t believe him and think you’re enlightened for it, cool. Just don’t have to bang about it every two posts.

Cavani news was broken by south american journalist prior to him on both occasions ,he is just acting as aggregator at the moment I am not suggesting he doesn't have a source he may very well be in the know for some transfers but acting as some sort of Omniscience Super tranfer news guru is just pathetic I think last season's fame has gone over his head..

Well,.one more reason to beat them tomorrow. With no CL, they are out of this race.

This. It's annoying. He's generally regarded as reliable so his tweets will be posted. Don't like it? Tough.

Alabama but always Wales in my heart
Definitely should be a priority, he can split time with Mason on the wing and lock it down in the future when Mason moves inside full time. For once we need to be quick out of the gates with this one, Liverpool have interest but they need to sell players first to fund a move and even then want a favorable installment plan. The Glazers want to try and buy our co-operation so they can start by stumping up 85m Euro on the first day of the window and getting this done.

I genuinely think Sancho Kane Greenwood will be our forward line at some point in the future.

Last summer showed him up. Hes click whoring at this stage
He can’t have the inside scoop on every major transfer to be fair, it sounded to me like the people United had doing the transfer didn’t even know what they were at so I can imagine it’s quite hard to get a story when there was nothing much going on beyond an imaginary stand off. Even the BBC alluded to the fact it was almost done at one point… never underestimate the glazers slow/deluded bargaining style and decision making. They don’t really have a clue what they are at and they hold the purse strings every summer. Ole is doing well despite their meddling. He’s fixing their past mistakes but unfortunately for us he is stuck working at the pace they set.

I don't have access to Bundesliga matches, so I can only judge on what I've seen.
His performances for England haven't ever shown he's worth that sort of money.
He's nowhere near being worth what Mount or Foden are.
Another example of United paying way over the odds for an average player.

The below quote is from you literally yesterday. I think we heard the first time.

Having watched his performances for England, I must admit I don’t know what the fuss is about.
He’s average at best. No better than players like Grealish or Maddison.
Not as good as Mount. Certainly not worth the money they want.

I mean you could also reserve judgement rather than describing him as an average player and deciding what he's worth based on the limited bit you've seen of him. You're not being forced into having an opinion.

Once again (same as last year), there's a lot of ifs and buts related to Sancho. To put things into perspective -

1. First question is, are we seriously still in for him?
2. Are we ready to bid around £72m (€85m)?
3. If yes, then are we actually going to bid before the Euros are over. (June 11 won't be happening given how lazy we are to move things around). No point in offering on the last week of July as he most probably will have already moved by then.
4. Will Dortmund accept the offer and Sancho the contract? Or could there be another club in the picture?

My guess is, if its not done by end of June... it won't be happening for good. We most definitely will not be having a repeat of the saga from last year.

Well, ideally, the two options below what you will see as regular line up week in week out if he comes in:
Cavani is not going to play every game.

Cavani
Pogba Bruno Greenwood

Rashford
Pogba Bruno Sancho
