Physically he is exceptional. Fast, strong, watches the ball when someone is running at him.
Positionally and skill wise, he's a bit lacking. The positional sense will come if he plays more regularly, but I don't think he'll ever be completely comfortable on the ball. Could be a good partner for a Maguire type of CB, but I think he'll end up moving on from us and will be decent, occasionally exceptional for a mid table PL side or equivalent.

If we were getting Pau Torres and Bailly isn't part of the deal, I wonder whether Norwich could still use a CB. It would be great for him to play regular Prem football. Could even maybe go there with Garner potentially if they still need a DM too.

Ridiculous. Second best CB in the PL this season, after Dias.
Nah, Thiago Silva is still better. Maguire has had a pretty decent season though, I'd agree with that.

With Maguire out for the rest of the season and not much to play for in the league, it is a bit of a perfect storm for him to get the consecutive games everyone says he deserves.

Think he’s average, personally, but it’s an opportunity for him to disprove that and give Ole something to think about. If not, at least send a message to potential buyers that he isn’t useless and get us a decent fee.

I'd play him in the last 3 games of the season and if we aren't buying a CB this summer I think he has more potential as a longer term partner for Maguire than Bailly has.

Based on his age and experienced, he's not better than Tomori. He needs to go on loan just like Tomori or unless he evolves next season as a player.

i would start him over Bailly for the Liverpool game
With the positioning he showed for the first goal? no thanks.

He's basically a speedy Phil Jones at this point. Looks flash when he's flying about all over the place and wins the odd physical duel, but not a great defender.

Ligament injury.
I would play Tuanzebe over Bailly. But Bailly will play
Probably because he’s the better player. Although as the games are meaningless, Axel is in with a shout.

Is this about Tuanzebe or Bailly?

Who do you think made the mistake for the first goal?
Matic? He was caught ball watching, and tracking back Tielemans is a DM job. He did the same mistake at FA cup defeat, it looks like they knew Matic's weakness and exploit the space.

Tuanzebe's job was marking Ihenacho, it was not a bad positioning.

Nope. Tuanzabe should have dropped to close the space. Matic did what was expected of a midfield player. As a central defender, you do not mark a player at that high line. You block the space that the ball would have been passed.

Need to think who would be the better partner for Lindelof. Tuanzebe is as pacy as Bailly but who’s better in the air? Think Victor needs that.

Yes, there's another Leicester chance at 58 minute when Matic looks too slow to cover but Tuanzebe should have closed the space. That said, I wouldn't be too critical on him as he's inexperienced, and the fact that we lack a leader at the back doesn't favor him at all.

He got better in the second half when we were defending. Yes with Bailly alongside him I wouldn't blame him much as Bailly was also all over the place for their goal. It was a reserve defense line completely.

What do we think of Axel?

I like his calmness but I do feel he's too timid in his play.
I don't see it with him. He doesn't look like he knows what he's doing back there.

I like him. Wish he got an extended run in the side instead of victor to be honest. He has mistakes in him and lapses of concentration but it's something I feel a run of games and experience will help with. I'd be tempted to start next season with Maguire n him as my starting two cbs

I really don't rate him. I've read posters say he'd walk into the Villa back four, I think they need to take their red tinted specs off.

Mostly ok. One poor moment when he fell over but Fulham failed to take advantage of the situation.

He had a couple of shaky moments in the 2nd half but also hwd several good moments, he's certainly calmer and steadier than Bailly has been in his last 2 games.

Reminds me of Chelsea's Christensen, calm and reads the game well. Only 23 so could still come good.

Think he was good except for one or two occasions at the start of second half. Could maybe be a little bit more adventurous on the ball.

Give him game time. Will be a Better option than Lindelof

On a different note we have a bloody brilliant defense to play 3 at the back.

Lindelof, Axel,Maguire- is a perfect combination of pace, positioning and physical combination.

I see two wobblers and Maguire.

So if a player falls over it's his fault?
I thought he was our best central defender playing on the left and not on his preferred side.

Think he has a higher ceiling than both Lindelöf and Bailly. Needs to get games and rythm.
