I think it was morally wrong but not punishable in my eyes, can of worms because of squad lists etc.

Only 73 league starts between the 11 this season though before tonight and 43 of those are de Gea and Greenwood so 30 league starts between the other 9 doesn't look great.... Mata highly experienced but hasn't started a league game for nearly 6 months...
That performance from Chelsea tonight was morally wrong

I think Trevor Sinclair should be fined half his annual income from punditry for stupidity.

Yes. We should have also been fined when we played Fabio, Rafael, Gibson and OShea in midfield against Arsenal and won

How would they decide what a "weakened" team is to judge on when we're picking from our 25 man squad? Check on social media and decide based on who fans think are a bit shit? Go by average FIFA rating? Go by "feel"?

The squad is there for the manager to rotate whoever he want out of them, especially for situations such as this. There were still 7 full internationals in the starting line up and we brought on our 3 top scorers in the second half, it's not as if we rolled out the U18's

I think we need to decouple the postponed match and the resting of players. Clearly the former caused the latter - but put that to the side, and you can have a rational discussion.

Just imagine Shaw, Rashford and Maguire playing 3 games in 5 days and then all getting injured and missing the Euros.

as they said in the video, City did exactly the same thing, nothing is said, because of the perceived quality of player - yet they lost to a team below Leicester!
That game affected the top 4 race as much as our game as well. Funny world.

My God the double standards. Why was it ok for ManCity to change 9 players vs Chelsea?

“Man City have that privilege. They’ve already made it. “

United had also made it. City’s match against Chelsea was just as important for the top-4 fight.
The words did come out of the mouth of Trevor Sinclair though, can't remember the last time I heard an opinion from him that wasn't heavily biased.

Trevor Sinclair is a very passionate Manchester City fan who is looking for an opportunity to have a dig at Manchester United. That is literally the only story here.

We played a team with about 9 or 10 internationals and it was a very tight game. A game that we lost by the exact same score that City lost a week ago with a weakened team. His point about City being better equipped to play a weakened team is ridiculous as they lost when playing it and had far less of a reason to play a weaker squad than we did.

Forget it, clearly the guy is wumming at this point. They will respond with whatever bs that supports their argument and rile you up.

Even if you mention how Jose went with a completely changed team vs Pool in 2014 when they played someone like Kalas in defence, look how they will respond to support their claims. Had liverpool won that game, it could have negatively impacted city who were also in the title race but you won't hear them talking about how morally wrong that was.
:lol::lol: I mentioned that game specifically myself saying i didn't agree with it. If you're going to try join in, do try to keep up.

I am amazed our fans are even considering this nonsense question. feck the PL, the FA and Liverpool. If they didn't lose so many games against cannon fodder, they wouldn't have cared.

This has been orchestrated by a bunch of opportunistic, bitter, clueless dumb-dumbs.

4 games in 8 days, should FA be punished as well for arranging such nonsense?

Surely it wasn't too difficult to move Liverpool's visit to West Brom to last night and have United v Liverpool this coming weekend

Joke of a thread and some clown posters in here. And if anyone makes such ridiculous claims whether on the TV or here, they deserve mocking for being such utter nutjobs

Should be fined

The words from Klopp were very telling. He said something like the PL made it very clear United shouldn’t benefit from the rearranged fixture.

ergo, they wanted to punish United. The PL have created this mess.

this is a £bn competition - yet obviously decisions are made they are just petty and vindictive.

I didn’t watch the game last night. Interesting to note Chelsea made SEVEN changes?

They made SEVEN changes because they have a game in THREE days time.

so that’s Chelsea and City who made big numbers of changes, yet neither have a fixture list as intensive at United.

At least the Chelsea supporters in here will shut the feck up as a result.

We have a squad of 25 people and we can use any of them. This punishment line is a non starter. It’s just some stupid media line used by some fans of other clubs blaming us for their failures this season.

The concept of a “weakened” team being stated as some kind of objective fact is very, very insulting to the players. They are all professional footballers who go out there and do their best every single game. To call them a weakened team as if the manager went out onto the street and picked out eleven random people, is insulting to every one of these players.

Just so we’re clear, they’re calling a team that included our first choice goalkeeper, one of the most productive left backs in the Portuguese league, a player considered by many to be our second best CB, a DM who was pivotal in winning the league with Chelsea, a CM alongside him who was part of that Ajax team that captured everyone’s imagination, an AM who has more goals and assists to his name than most other players in the league, the highest scoring teenager in Manchester United history, a weakened team?

He features regularly on Norwegian TV as a PL pundit, lining up with Erik Thorstvedt, Brede Hangeland or a small handful of other regulars to give commentary during the break and before and after games (has spent enough time in Norway that he understands Norwegian, but sticks to english when he's speaking). He doesn't generally come across as particularly biased against United. He does generally come across as not particularly bright though. :)
