I don't think you can judge VDB so quickly when he's had so little game time. Midfield must be the hardest position to play when you're coming in cold. Because you have to knit the entire play together. Made even harder when you're playing with unfamiliar players. Not to mention lower-quality players. We let other players play game after game where they're shit or average until finally they play themselves into form. But judge VDB after 1 match. Bit ridiculous.
1 Match he has played over 30 games for us this season, I wouldn't just write off a player after 1 game but its been a joke of a season for the money we spent. Is he low in confidence yes but in a game where the pressure is literally off he didn't do himself any justice he played like a coward and was atrocious.

He’s playing in the middle of the field with players he’s not familiar with. With yes super low confidence or rhythm because he’s given 5 minutes every other other game. It’s ridiculous. How do you play yourself into form like that? He needs a proper chance before we decide he’s not good enough. Fred and mctominay can play shit after shit but they still get picked. VDB played pretty well at the beginning but was then never really given a chance. Next year will decide things.

He needs to be braver in his play. He's not done badly but he needs to take more responsibility on to match his ability.

He has played more than 1 game with more than 45 and surely he trains with these players too. I understand that he is low in confidence and can't stand Fred/McTominay but they least try to play even when they feck up they dont put their heads down they try. That's all i expect off any United player.

Why not? Everton wrote off Davy Klaassen after just 7 games. These excuses are getting a bit old, even Fred and McT have shown glimpses of promise in the beginning. They've shown fight and a willingness to influence the game. They didn't look out of their depth.

So he has a weaker mentality than Andreas and Lingard combined? Sounds like Olee has a hell of a project on his hands then.

No, he's just come from a totally different football philosophy and is being asked to adapt instantly, while being given precious little time to do it and generally surrounded by players not as good and not on his wavelength (as opposed to the first-teamers with Bruno, Pogba, etc.) I'd say that's gonna take time.

Exactly doesn't take a genius to see when something isn't right, he plays well better for Holland and have seen him play better for Ajax but unfortunately not showing it at United.

Overall, given the starting 11, I thought we played well.

VdB was pretty bad. I honestly don’t think he’s that bad of a player, it’s just he’s terrified of making a mistake. The PL maybe moves too fast for him. I think he’d do better in a less physical, slower paced league — Maybe Serie A, for a side like Roma or Lazio?

Elanga reminded me of a less capable Martial. Close control but didn’t seem to have the burst that Martial has to take him by players. Amad was, maybe, nifty?

The more I watch Greenwood at striker, the more I think he is destined to play on the wing. He doesn’t have the physical presence required to play there in the PL.The typical CB is just too strong. Martial struggles with that at times as well. Maybe, maybe in 3 years, when he is fully mature could he move to striker. I’d love for him to be a Thierry Henry type because he has some of those attributes.... still, he’s improved a lot this year, his link up play is better, he’s starting to add passing and assists to his game. A very bright prospect for us.

Agree with the atrocity of FA's decision, but once that doesn't change the fact that Ole could have used what he had better and he made some mistakes, namely the three ones.
I posted a long time ago but cant find.

A simple way to deal with FA in this scenario. FAX them a question asking them for them to choose the starting lineup ( v Leicester for example).
Of course the cannot and would not. So then Ole decision cannot be penalized.

Or , even send them your proposed starting 11 v Leicester and ask them if they authorize it. Again, of course they cannot so no penalty applicable.

I agree it is a complex situation if clubs are chasing CL or EL births, but sanctions surely cannot be applied as a “strongest” starting 11 is a very grey area to start with.
