We gave him a good run which was the right thing to do but evidence is there, Henderson has a mistake in him a game and that’s the difference at the top level, you can’t settle.

I was very much onboard with trying him out, De Gea back in or if he wants to move on find someone new.

Swap their passports and there wouldn’t be calls for Henderson to replace De Gea. Simple as.

Henderson isn't even close to a declined version of De Gea, he doesn't have it in him to pull off what the Spaniard did in Rome last week.

Henderson is extremely average. He's not a problem really and will probably get the season. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to get Donnarumma on a free if we have the chance.

These last couple of months weren't Ole saying Henderson is United's No.1.

This was Ole giving him the opportunity to prove he should be.

Let's not forget how awful DDG was during his first season. I prefer Hendo but would rather have Oblak.

Oh but Henderson is so confident. I mean he is a terrible goalkeeper but still confident and apparently that is enough for United these days.

There is no way Fergie would ever pick Henderson over De Gea

That was a bit concerning. Several spilt spots, some poor positioning. I think De Gea is long over his peak, but that doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Ffs, the state of people in this thread saying we need to go all out for Oblak this window. As if we don't have far bigger issues to solve first...we could do with a CB, CM and RW all as higher priority than a new keeper. Not a great night from Hendo and I do have reservations about him at the very highest level but he was definitely not helped out by an uncertain back line and a dreadful midfield today.

We have a GK problem for next season don't we? Neither are good enough for a title winning side.

De Gea concedes 4 against fecking Roma, Henderson concedes feck knows how many against Leicester and Liverpool

Again; in that first season Dave (who was 19) showed amazing reflexes. Showed some flaws but also showed the talent. So based on that he got a chance.
Henderson has 24 and i don't care now if someone will be angry and call me names or whatever but his biggest talent is being an English player from academy.

Easiest way to sum it up for me is i can think of 4/5 goals conceded where i'm confident De Gea saves them.

Flip it around and how many De Gea examples can you think of where Henderson stops them.

Not really a valid comparison. De Gea was younger, more obviously naturally talented and adjusting to the country, the league and its physicality. Henderson is older, less naturally talented and has been playing in England all his life with a full PL season under his belt already.

The expectation is that Henderson be better than De Gea in his first season. A lot better.

Henderson has never had what it takes to be our #1. And de Gea the last two games almost seemd like his old self again.. so as of this moment, DDG should certantly be our #1. But for next season and beyond? I'm sure Henderson will never be good enough, and i doubt DDG can find back to his best, even if he has done really well his last two games.

Tonight should definitively answer this question. Or at least that Henderson isn't ready
I agree. What has he played this season starting 20-25games. I think he is a very good young keeper, but feels we are scared of losing him....we shouldnt be. He isnt ready, he has made more errors if not clangers in those games than DeGea over a season but DeGea has been crucified.

DOnt understand these comments of him commanding the area either. He punches and flaps a bit on crossesm his positioiing isnt perfect, shown again today, he rushes out as a sweeper keeper without authority. There are positions we can trust young players knowing they will make msitakes, goal keeper isnt one of them. He will make mistakes as the numbe one next season and he will get crucified.

DeGea has obviously been poor the last wo or three years in comparison to the great keeper he has been for us here, has looke decent the last couple of months though.

I have changed my mind in cashin gin on DeGea. For me we continue as we are, but DeGea should be getting more games than Henderson who has to earn the spot from him, he hasnt been awful or even bad, but he hasnt earned the jersey and I think he will need a season or two to to do......if he actually is good enough

We need a new GK, neither of them are good enough. DDG probably better out of the two but not by much based on his recent form.

Neither... Henderson's been costly, De Gea has had a bit of a renaissance, but moving forward we need a world class prime gk; neither of those are that now, or will be with present showings, asides Roma, Henderson isn't capable of that.

Perhaps not that relevant but De Gea was 20 when he signed for us and turned 21 in November of his first season.

C'mon, City won the title with fecking Claudio Bravo in goal  Both of them are good enough for a title winning side if we had a solid defence which we don't. De Gea is simply better than Henderson though.

I tell my U7’s team that if someone’s through one-on-one you steam out to the player and make yourself big. It’s fecking basics.

Without hyperbole, I think it's obvious Henderson still needs a year or two of more development before he's reliable as all out number 1 (if he ever becomes, I mean).

We absolutely can't afford to lose De Gea till this happens, even with all his flaws.

We need to keep both and keep rotating between them another year at least then re-evaluate the GK position.

People forget how unnervy the whole defence is when De Gea is in goal. Saw it last week in Roma, he's made all those saves becasue he's not organising things properly in front of him. People also forget how he's been throwing them in and been generally shit for the for the last two years.

Henderson had a poor one tonight, but he's still been better for the team overall this season than De Gea.

Biggest problem is that this is situation if we decide to keep Hendo as no1, DDG leaves. Better player leaves and then after 12 months we need to buy another gk.
