I don't expect anything sensible from that guy. His opinion on the protest and how we goes about it is indicative of what kind of person we're dealing with.

We specifically rested the whole team on Tuesday to avoid this being an excuse...
We specifically rested the whole team on Tuesday because there was nothing else we could do. It's still the fourth game in 8 days. And these discussion would be better if we could avoid the frankly idiotic notion that any factor that isn't "the players/manager are shite" or "they showed no desire" is automatically considered an "excuse".

Yeah, well. Some wanted us to forfeit this game, so I guess we can´t complain too much. Liverpool had more to play for.

A shameful, shameful performance and result.

Think of the pain Liverpool inflicted on United fans all last season. Today we had the chance to exact some small measure of revenge in our laps against a Liverpool team playing with reserve centre backs and what do we do? Let Liverpool ride us bareback at Old Trafford.

A fecking embarrassment.
I hate that they do it to us at Old Trafford (4-1 as well back in '09).

We never spank them at Anfield and it pisses me off.

So glad we provided the players with pre-match beds in the exec boxes, just a pity most of the team never woke up for the game!
Our persistence in trying to play out from the back is always doomed to failure with the indecision of our defenders/midfield,time to try something else or buy players who can do it.
Never play Rashford on the right again.

How the feck does Henderson end up with a 3.6 rating? I can recall at least 4 quality interventions that might very reasonably have ended up in goals without blemishing the goalkeeper and AFAICS, he can't be blamed for any of Pool's goals, except maybe a little bit the third, where he crouched as the shot went off. He was arguably our best player today.

Given the whole situation with the schedule and the fact 2nd place is almost guaranteed, I'm okay with the result. I'm also okay because when we put the effort in, the first 15 minutes and the last 30, we were the better team IMO. This bodes well for next season and the final coming up. When we want to play, we can play with anyone. Last year I feared Liverpool when we played them and thought a 3-0 drubbing was always possible. It is totally different as I think we are the slightly better team.

I've said this before, though, and will say it again: If we start the next season with McT and Fred as our main DMs I will be terribly disappointed. I'm not sure we can win a PL or CL title with those two being prominent starters. They are just so pedestrian and have no class with the ball.

If we had something left to play for in the league, like fighting for a top 4 berth or still in a title race, then I would have been upset at that performance. As it stands, there's nothing left for us in the league, and the players know it. Struggling to bring myself to care about that result really.

The only upside would have been if we got the chance to deny them a CL spot. Still, it'll be even more comical if they beat us, but then miss out by dropping points to someone else.

We'll have a chance to make up for it next season, by beating them in the Champions League Final.

Shambolic performance, McFred and Bailly were shocking and Henderson was dodgy, gifted these wankers a huge opening to get top 4, so frustrating.

I think it's Lindelof in a dress.
Right then, me done for the night. At least something steered my attention from the pathetic performance just before going to bed. Will wake up tomorrow pretending a first team United cb didn't wear a dress in what looked like preparations for some pervert date.

What's the context, where did the photo originate. So many questions
I have no clue where it originated from but my scouser boss sent it to me and I thought it was only right that I share it with you lot. I was waiting for the perfect moment and @Random Task was kind enough to orchestrate that moment today.

Our midfield is so fecking bad. Henderson isn't good enough and De Gea needs to take back his no.1 spot ASAP.
100% if De Gea leaves, next season we will have a goalkeeper crisis. Henderson is a solid keeper, but not good enough for a team that that has league winning ambitions.

Would love to get Oblak but already got at least 3 issues in the first XI and not enough cash to buy ourselves out of this mess

Shocking defensively, but defence isn’t just the back 4.
Defending starts with your front players, who should have a big job to do.
Behind them, the most important defensive role falls to the central midfield.
If you have that working, the back four can concentrate on mopping up the crumbs.

Excluding Cavani, we have a front line of young players who, no matter whatever their attacking qualities might be, are incapable and unwilling to perform those key defensive duties further up the field.
On top of that, we have a roster of midfield players who can’t defend properly, if at all and if put under pressure, are easily overrun by even mid and lower table teams.

Even if we had Ferdinand and Vidic in their prime, behind this lot, even they’d be put under pressure by the sloppiness going on in front of them and the relentless pressure that results from it.
No wonder the ropey back line we have is getting repeatedly mullered.

Pretty much this. Fred and McTominay as a pair aren't ideal. I do feel either might look better playing alongside Declan Rice where they're allowed to bomb forward box to box more from the pivot, which is what we'd do if Pogba's going to be playing high left more often.

What an awful day!
The players we had out there today are good players on their day. Many have won MOTM and they have given us some good moments through the season. They have also given us some tripe and today was a prime example - unfortunately they chose to play so poorly against 'Pool.
To make my day even worse - I was looking forward to watching the game (maybe that was wrong!) but couldn't watch from the beginning. I sat down to stream it on DAZN with about 15 mins left to play. I set to watch from the beginning. I am now used to the awful stop-start service form DAZN so wasn't surprised when it stopped after 5 mins but instead of starting where the show had left off it cut to 76 mins with the score at 2-3 leaving me to watch 70 mins of football knowing what to expect. I hoped that there would be a miracle turnaround after that but after watching for 76 mins I knew that was unlikely!
As I say it's been a bad day

We've just handed them a CL birth. How is this okay?

This was Liverpool's third game in 19 days. We've had six in the same period, four of them in the last week. Even with the rotation, most of our players started three games in that week, some featured in all four games.

Why the feck should we care what Liverpool does? It's funny if they miss out on CL, but their fate shouldn't be our focus.
Because they're our greatest rivals? Not caring about you rivals is far more questionable.

From a fans point of view it's a really shitty situation. For the players? They probably don't feel it the same way, I reckon they just want to get over the finish line at this point. It certainly played out that way. Sucks massive ass.

C'mon, it's really not that straightforward. Our rivalries are a massive source of motivation.

They shouldn't be allowed to feel that way. This rivalry is historic In nature. Anytime you can put your foot down on them to take it. Qualificatyiny for cL footy will now give Liverpool serious impotus for next season where otherwise they could be flat.

Not when we have a cup final in less than two weeks. We already lost Maguire, how would you like it if Cavani or Bruno pulled something because they tried to do one over Liverpool that doesn't affect us?

The bad thing about today was that we lost, that it was to Liverpool makes it worse. As far as where Liverpool finishes on the table? Couldn't give less of a shit. I care about them insofar that I want us to beat them, and that's the extent of it.

Will I laugh if they miss out on the CL? Yes, of course. But should they somehow manage to claw their way into top four, it doesn't negatively affect me. The players have had a long, packed season, and after four games in the last week, with nothing to play for today, I'm inclined to forgive them for faltering.

Absolutely, which is why we likely feel it much more pertinently than the players do (in terms of how it affects Liverpool longer term). It must be a much harder message to convey as a manager though when the players are no doubt pooped from a hectic schedule and know they've got second sewn up. Liverpool had literally everything riding on that game. We should have been better but am I surprised we looked half-arsed and they were bang on every single ball? Not at all. I reckon the players will be much, much more up for next seasons game against them. It's really lame as fans but it's one of those things.

I remember United running riot at Anfield in 2003, may have been the match Hyypia was sent off early.

Edit: It was at Old Trafford. Can't remember when but I recall an away match there they ran riot.

It does effect us though, as United fans. The knock on effect of Liverpool getting CL football surely doesn't need stating..? The signings they are able to make, the players that will likely remain etc. means they are more of a threat to us next season. I'm not surprised or particularly pissed off that we lost, but I do understand that the impact of Liverpool winning makes them more of a threat to us going forward. That's the worse part of it, in my opinion.
