Can someone quiz him on Peter Lim and what he's doing to Valencia! Or how Salford's riches outweigh other clubs.
I think that Salford will reach a level where they can't out spend everyone. It's different to City and PSG who are so far in front that nobody can match them most seasons. Eventually Salford will get to league one or the championship and each their limit where further investment will be needed beyond what Nev et al can offer.

I don't know if he should be asked about Lim but I would like to hear what he has to say.

Neville is not opposed to money in the game. That's a really silly take on what the issue is here.

For those who think this is all about Neville, it isn't.

He's managed to bring people together because he's good at that kind of thing. But this is very much a joint statement with agreement from lots of people from lots of different corners in football.

Truth is I don't have an opinion on the ESL, my point was that Gary is a hypocrite.

But those owner(s) aren’t looking to destroy the league with a breakaway that also does away with promotion and relegation.

There have always been owners who are wealthier than others
Think his point is that "club ruiners" are just as bad as supposed "league ruiners". Of course it's also true that it would be easier to legislate for people that mess with an entire league than micro manage individual owners incompetence/blatant disregard. So I don't think Neville could do anything about the latter even if he wanted to do. But understand some fans feeling that's a real issue too.

I thought the ESL was a cup, not a league! I guess I should have read a bit more about the ESL.

Peter Lim is destroying Valencia though. Doesn't he also part own Salford? Isn't Salford's riches ensuring they're head and shoulders above other teams in their league?

He's not against money in the game. Listen from 1:25.

You're being intellectually dishonest.

I'm surprised they never made any awareness for 50+1 petition. The EPL failed to protect MUFC when being bought by debts but when it's now these owners want to take their club out of the league is now an issue but fans being used for years was and is now not an issue.

This petition will not help us let's be honest it just to protect their media's pockets.

United have been like a verbally abused wife under the Glazers for years. And everybody accepted it because nothing seriously bad had happened that they could call the authorities about.

But now the owner have raised their hand and given us a black eye. The situation has changed and that's why steps needs to be taken to give the fans of the club a voice.

Of course, you can look back in hindsight and say you always knew the Glazers were wrong un's. But the point is that they've actually crossed a line. Nobody benefits from 'I told you so's.

The ESL wasn't the whole story, but it was the point of no return.

It's about protecting the game, not Manchester United. The ESL would have killed football across Europe.

These billionaire owners aren't walking away from that much guaranteed income due to a few legacy fans chanting outside a stadium. They'll come back in 5 years time with some rebranded ESL in more attractive packaging.

We all know that greed is rampant throughout the game, be that broadcasters, owners, players or pundits. But we have to pick our fights. Currently, this one has momentum and has a very achievable aim.

ESL is a horrible idea. Surprised you don't have an opinion on it.
I don't think I understand enough to have an opinion.

Maybe I am, my point however, is that Gary is happy to point the finger at others when his close associate is damaging a team.

The problem there is 2 leagues in 2 countries. Unless UEFA step in and formulate some sort of legislation there’s nothing anyone can do.

Man City’s riches ensure that they’re head and shoulders above the majority, nothing’s been done about that. Isn’t that the monster football has become?

There's a difference between doing a bad job at a club versus demolishing the entire basis the sport is built upon.

As he's said numerous times, football clubs should be able to succeed and fail onto any step on the ladder. That's totally different from the Glazers et al pulling up the ladder behind themselves.

Enough with the drama already. Basketball did not stop existing when NBA was formed. If anything, it flourished because of it. This idea that the old ways are the best ways is ridiculous.

Seeing all kinds of ridiculous notions in this thread as well as in other threads. 50+1 on decision-making rights? What? Why would an owner give up their power over the club's future to anyone?

Enforcing a new law that mandates future club sales to follow the 50+1 rule? That would only mean there won't be any sales of big clubs ever again. How are fans to accumulate the money needed for 50+1 part ownership?

Come on, people, stop and think about it for a moment.

And Neville, hypocritical as usual, has condensed into one sentence a plethora of other important issues without even a notion of a plan how to solve anything. Independent Regulator? So, FA, PL, UEFA aren't enough? And private property should suddenly become heavily regulated because his job and investment are under threat?

Poor thing...

Very well put, golf clap.

Surprised Darren Fletcher put his name on that whilst being employed by Utd. Are you sure?

Well... it's a little bit about him isn't it. Been surprised about how much of a politician he is, didn't hear him complaining about Sky putting their price up by a whopping 8% for Sky Sports in the middle of a pandemic.

Well the 50+1 petition was discussed. Football Governance - Monday 14 June 2021 - Hansard - UK Parliament

If you can't be arsed reading it, basically everyone involved used it as a chance to show their representation credentials, all agreeing change needs to be made, how awesome they all are for discussing it and it being a cross party thing is great. Wait for the parliamentary report to come out in October and we'll see what that says.
