In university, I had the terrible experience of having a friend of mine collapse on the field, everyone froze and didn't know what to do, I tried my best to do CPR, but it took AGES for any proper medical personnel to get there, so I just kept doing CPR with another friend, until the medics came but sadly, what we didn't know at the time, was that it was too late, he didn't make it.Seeing this tonight, just unearthed all that emotion and experience.
That was one of the worst experiences in my life, and to this day there is a certain smell and images that triggers the memory of that day and giving him CPR that I can never forget.
I couldn't go back to the pitch for the rest of that year and had to have extensive counselling before I could even step on it and play football again.
There is a case for the Belgium v Russia game being put to another day, I would leave that one with the players, but not the whole tournament.

We don´t even have enough information to make any judgement calls regarding first response here. We don´t even know if Eriksens breathing gave out immeadiately and CPR was directly needed. All we know is that CPR, a Defi and Oxygen was used and the man is thankfully stable. Let´s just be grateful for that instead of discussing matters that could very well come off as ignorant and honestly pretty tasteless.
