On a different level to Bissaka. Pretty sure he'd bench him.

We will get him at a normal price this summer or for free in 12 months, Atletico don't have much leverage.

I’d kill for AWB to have the same aggression and tenacity.

I can see Tripier become a back-up for either AWB or Shaw if the recent rumours of Telles being on the market are true.

He has a fantastic cross. Everything else about his game is so average though?

His ball playing, dribbling and some of his decision making further up the pitch in the Euros was below par for me. I noticed he had at least 2-3 offsides, which is really poor for any wide player coming from deep. He played poor one-twos, interplays and wasn't great when pressed etc. Defensively, reminds me of Lindelof with little engagement and just blocking off the passing/crossing lanes.

He's a luxury wing back and support player with one world class attribute.

A very serviceable squad player to have but at what cost?

He was a vital player for the Champions of Spain.

I would like to see us try a back three system again if we can sign a top centre-back. Shaw and Trippier would be ideal as wingbacks. Shaw in particular is an absolutely dominate force on the left and wingback suits his talents. I think the left side in a three also suits Maguire perfectly.

So Cavani, Rashford, Sancho, Martial, Greenwood and Diallo are fighting for 2 places

I didn't watch Atletico's games but I'd doubt he was 'vital'. I'm sure he played a big part by being ever present but I don't think he would be missed if he leaves, simply because of the way Simone sets up his team.

He's sort of like a right sided Telles with PL experience meaning he could do a job but unless it's at a very good price, I'd be underwhelmed because he doesn't significantly improve our first squad as a right or wing back.

Happy to be proven wrong though if he does come.

He can play on left side too, I am ok to pay 25M to get this done. He can push both AWB and Shaw

Jose wants Tells so we can get 15M for him too.

He would have to really push this plus of course there is the small matter of us needing to raise funds as well

If I could get him for a decent price then hell yes.
Warrior, winner, fights for the team and a leader. Would give us some more personality and grit!

We finally have depth at LB, why the hell would we want to give up Telles?? What if Shaw gets injured for a couple of months (god forbid)

Atleti asking for almost triple what we offered according the Athletic probably makes this a no deal.

Seems like a big gap to make up while we have bigger priorities.

For a backup anything over £20m is just ridiculous when we already have Williams, Laird and Dalot on the books.

Back up? Trippier starts before AWB everytime.
Not for me personally, maybe in matches where we are solid favourites but AWB improved a lot towards the end of the season.

AWB needs to improve a lot more for me although I'm no hater.

Trippier is a good leader on the pitch too (pointed out by Southgate).

Trippier ticks every box we need for our play while allowing AWB to develop his attacking play more.

Trippier is over rated personally. He's a decent crosser and good on free kicks but hardly an assist machine. His defending is pretty basic too.

He got 6 in 35 last season. No goals.

He got 4 in 31 the year before, no goals.

Not sure how many of those are open play or free kicks.

While I think he'd make a decent squad option to say he's automatically taking AWB's position is jumping the gun.

That's the thing with numbers, they can show a lot but also give a misinterpretation of performance.

The assists often given to the last player that touches the ball before the goal scorer. Ignoring the build-up play.

Shaw is seen to have had the season of his career returning stats of 6 assists 1 goal and 3 assist (zero in the prem) and 1 goal the previous season.

Trippier has just come off a title winning season and is at the age where he can bring the youth on.

We'll agree to disagree but we'll also have a little bet for fun. If the deal happens, I'll wager Trippier starts more games than AWB

I think if we can get him at a good price we should.
I doubt he'll start ahead of AWB but he can also cover at left back so Shaw doesn't have to play every game.
He also would give Ole a wing back option so we could play 3 at the back, its always good to have options even if you don't need them.
Last of I think he would start ahead of AWB when we are playing against the bottom 6 sides as they just sit back and crosses or passing my be needed.

Would be a pretty good buy if the price is reasonable. Good player, experienced, versatile.

Trippier sounds like one of those late in the window jobs. Can see him coming, but not yet.
