He is a cheaper version of Maguire. I wanted him when he was at Sampdoria. At the time his price was around the 20m mark. I don't know if I want him now

Sorry but rating him above Maguire is ridiculous. He's not even next in line for England if Maguire was injured. Would be Mings, Coady or Keane
We really can't go by Southgate's choices, can we ? Dunk is a far better option than any of those guys you mentioned above.

Is there any point in him? I think we should only upgrade on Lindelof it's a faster option at CB. Otherwise it's likely more of the same.

He was a fighter and a great defender and Ferdinand was fast, athletic and a great defender and great on the ball. Maguire has all the skills for a great central defender safe for pace. He needs a fast, athletic defender to cover. Pace is what Maguire needs the most for his partner imo as everything else he is superb at. Maguire is pro active too, but he can be only so much knowing there is no pace to cover.

Forget Vidic, put Rio next to Maguire or even Lindelof and we are superb.
indeed. However
My point is Vidic and a maguire would be pretty complimentary. Even with the lack of pace. Complimentary pairings simply defend in opposite ways.

Tarkowski is better and only has a year left on his contract at the end of this season I think.

Wrong. He is an aggressive pro active defender. The opposite of both of them in defensive style
There is an evident difference in Maguire and Lindelof in terms of proactiveness but can't say I've seen Joachim Andersen enough to claim he's much more agressive then Lindelof, certainly cannot be more passive. The huge point is if he's fast enough because we certainly need an athletic fast CB to really complement with our CBs, those are usually also the ones who are "proactive" in general.

He looks good for Fulham. Not sure if he suits our system and paired with either maguire or lindelof I don't think he would cut it at highest level.

Konsa for Villa is a player I think worth keeping an eye on.

It needs to be a very good CB if we are to replace Lindelof. Andersen ain't it.

There should be other positions we prioritize over signing a new CB. A third of the goals we've conceded this season came in the first 3 games, and Lindelof didn't even play when we conceded 6 against Spurs. When you discount the terrible start we had which was clearly down to having a small squad the previous season, playing more games than any other team in the top 5 leagues since lockdown, and having almost no preseason, you can only really say City have been better defensively.

He's a United fan, too. But I don't think he's quite at the required level, unfortunately.
Perhaps. He's still a better defender than Andersen though.

According to Danish paper BT we are "massively interested"

He's a budget solution but I really struggle to see how he'd be an upgrade on what we have.

BT is the Danish version of Daily Mail. Would take with a massive grain of salt.

I'm aware, still the danish papers tend to know a bit about their own players. Hopefully he goes to Tottenham where he could probably do a job actually.

My Fulham mate loves him, "best CB since Hangeland and feels like he's better than he was as well". I'm not convinced, but seems a good passer though.

One thing i like about him is his long range passing, easily as good as both Harry and Victor.

Wouldn’t surprise me if this guy is what we will end up. I have said it few weeks ago that we are not going for expensive CB anymore, we will go in range of 20m-40m. If we are willing to pay 50m we would have signed Upamecano last summer or Pau Torres when they had similar release clause, the fact is we didn’t.

The type of centre back we are looking is probably Bailly‘s replacement but can stay fit to challenge Lindelof. I think the club wants to use the big money on attacker (striker or winger).

Not a popular name.

My issue is we are linked with every CB as it's common knowledge we are desperate to upgrade on Lindelof, with Bailly Jones and Tuanzebe completely unreliable.

So any CB who has had a half decent season will be linked.

Anderson does nada for me - doesn't improve us.

When you can reel off 10+ names of better options you know it's a non starter. He's part of a defence leaking goals at the arse end of the league. He's the best of a bad bunch. He might be a good player, but he's not a quality player

Dunk's one of those players like Vardy that the top clubs really should have picked up on.
Is he? I feel like he's better in the opposition box than in his own. Don't get me wrong he's a decent player but as with all of England's dozens of CBs, meh. Doesn't stand out at all.

Precisely this. He was supposed to be the replacement of Maguire at Leicester and think the price put them off. I would have been perfectly alright if we had signed Dunk instead of Maguire .

We can replace once of Baily/Lindelof with this guy as a backup to Varane/Maguire

Anyone keen on turning McTominay to a CD

Vieira is making some really interesting recruiting
Dougie Freedman signs the players for us, am sure Vieira adds his touch but we’ve been tracking these players for a long time now.

Still...Guehi, Andersen and Olise for £2m less than Ben White...looks good business to me. I still think we need a CM, a RW and a ST so be interesting to see what we do there. My bet right now...Conor Gallagher on loan for the CM spot, one of Reiss Nelson, Ademola Lookman or Noni Madueke for RW and a late push for someone like Edouard towards the end of the window.

Good on palace! Good on Denmark. Danish centrebacks represented in the lineup for four premier league clubs now

I doubt there is much more money to sign players for though. I just can't see Palace having a net-spend well above £50 million

They might have to, half their first team left when their contracts expired. If they can replace those with young hungry players then they have a chance
