Did we Pawn Stars them?

(Madrid Shows Varane)
United: "How much do you want?"
Madrid: "I'm looking at $70m"
United: "Best I can do is $20m"
Madrid: "Ok, just give me $60m then"
United: "$45m, and I'm taking all the risk."

Sancho and Varane ... what a fecking summer. Not a good look for Woodward that Murtough comes in and delivers the goods immediately, but obviously a great sign for us going forward.

In fairness I do prefer the transfer of the 90s. I buy a newspaper and read that United have signed Cantona. Or I turn on the TV and can see that United have broken the transfer record by signing Andy Cole.

It is brilliant as things stand. Could still go very wrong if Pogba went and our Midfield regressed.

Murtough can't be judged on one summer tbf. Woodward had good moments in isolation but would follow them up with shocking ones.

Both VVD & Dias came in to totally different teams compared to Maguire.

VVD & Dias joined teams who were either very established and used to winning leagues, or had the final jigsaws missing, such as VVD & Alison.

Maguire was one of the first parts to Ole's reconstruction. Yes the money paid for Maguire was a lot but we were in a desperate situation.

Unfortunately for Maguire, he will always get compared to VVD and the differing impacts made but the context of where their individual teams were at the time of their arrivals will never be taken into account. I always thought our own fans would.
He comes with a huge price tag, comparison would be inevitable. 80m should get us one of the best CB in the world, such as VVD and Dias. But he is still a good CB, even having considered the contextual difference. It’s more of a case of us doing a bad business in negotiation.

Every time I read about United's negotiation tactics I think of this:

I think you Could feasibly achieve this by just using the Manchester United app as your source of news. Ignore twitter and Instagram football accounts and stay away from the Caf transfer forum

Pretty sure Woodward is working on these deals himself.

Wasn't a big fan of Woodward but couldnt he only negotiate with the money being given by the Glazers, who are obviously trying to butter up the fans due to all the shithousery regards the ESL?

Manchester United and Real Madrid are now very close to an agreement (between 45 and 50M € according to the bonuses) for the transfer of Raphaël Varane. Confident, the English club even hope to be able to formalize the arrival of the French defender this week.

Think this will be officially announced tomorrow.
“There are a couple of things on the paperwork and we hope we can announce one player who has been very much written about,” said the United boss.

Visions of Murtough like a fecking bulldog on the phone, hashing out this deal with Perez. Literally barking 'cincuenta' and 'no mas' down the phone.

Perez hangs up the office, his mobile rings, it's bloody Murtough. Hangs up, blocks the number, an email comes in 'CALL ME, JOHN'. Joder this guy is persistent. The fax machine starts to whirr, a crisp A4 piece of paper drops and floats lazily to the floor with the words 'it was never broken' scrawled across it.
I believe that this gem of a post is describing exactly what’s happening between Perez and Murtough right now

Deal is obviously very close. Only form of payment left to negotiate.

Meaning pay by whom? Man utd obviously got the money so that's not an issue.

Only need to sort out when is the payment and what type of payment.
Apparently Real want Bitcoin, but United insist on Ethereum. Dogecoin is a possible compromise.

Credit to Luckhurst, on nothing but a transfer muppet whim, he called the Varane deal. All hail the muppet of 2021.
