Did not expect this to go through (still don't quite believe it). He would be a really good signing and, at least on paper, leaves us with probably the strongest CB pairing at the club since we dispensed with Rio & Vidic.

Still a lot of work to do to get the the squad in a state where it is properly competitive (we don't have a top level keeper or right-back, our midfield options are really poor and we are relying on at least one of Martial/Rashford/Greenwood scoring a lot of goals), but a solid CB pairing (finally!) is a positive step.

We also have by far the weakest manager of the expected top 4 as well. Don't forget that while you're shitting on our squad.

Imagine the stadium banging this out.
Lovely stuff How about this one?

We’re starting with Varane and Maguire

They’re dashing in the way they play

Kiss our badge, we don’t need no Tripp-ier

If you wanna watch the world’s greatest defence

Take a look, our Captain and Rapha-eeeeeel

We're relying on our strikers and wide players to provide goals, like every other team then? You list them like they're players for Blackburn Rovers.

Our transfers this summer have been really smooth and without much issues. Great market so far.

How long until people start moaning that we’ve not heard anything for ‘ages’?

We live in a world where Raphaël Varane who has won 4 Champions Leagues, 4 FIFA Club World Cups, 3 La Liga’s, 3 UEFA Super Cup’s, 3 Spanish Cups and a World Cup costs £43m and Brighton’s Ben White who won the EFL Championship player of the month for August 2019 costs £50 million.

After watching our 2 preseason matches... This is one signing I am happy to hear about. Now maybe we can stop other clubs from scoring at will.

So, this looks about 95% done.

3 weeks before the prem starts, and we have signed one of the star youngsters in the game, and are about to sign one of the best CBs for a combined fee of around £110m...

First window with a football director, it does make you think what could have been accomplished in previous transfer windows. Surely cant be a coincidence we appoint Murtough then this magical situation happens?

Would I be right in thinking that Ole is under a lot of pressure to deliver now? United's squad looks strong and at a very good age overall. I think Varane and Maguire is an excellent CB duo. United probably only need a decent holding midfielder and they're looking good.
