which he wouldn't of got here? He'd of walked into our side. It was the refusing of the release clause which scuppered our chances
That wasn’t why we didn’t sign him. We wanted him and he was happy to come. But his agent wanted to put in the release clause which Utd refused and rightly so. Dortmund were happy to have the release clause which is why they agreed to the deal. But they have to deal with the clause problem next summer now which is what Utd wanted to avoid.
School every day. Cheers didn't know that.

I don’t think he’s seen himself going to Real. Mbappe has always been their man.

The Raiola factor is a killer, definitely.
You could be right. I could swear I read before the window he wanted RM. Once the window gets close all the noise makes it difficult to know what is real and what is BS.

I can see this transfer happening next season, providing we have a good season this season. Ole is settled with his contract, and that was a concern from Haalands dad. Was it the manager or club who wanted him. His best mates here as well. £62 million is well achievable.

It will take massive wages and a massive payout to his agent.
Not my money.

Nor mine, but if we could get him we would really be back in the big time. Could see titles and cups galore over the next 5 seasons.

He seems to ultimately want to win multiple different leagues, so will want to play for Real or Barca at some stage. Just like he'll want to play for one of City/Chelsea/Liverpool/Utd at some stage. Towards the end of his career I expect he'll go to the Serie A as well, or possibly back to the Bundesliga (there's a small chance he even stays in Germany now if Bayern trigger the release clause).

The question is whether he already has a preferred order of how he does things, or whether he's playing it by ear and will just go with whoever he feels is the right club at the time of his moves. If it's the former he might still end up in Spain, but with the PL clubs on the rise and the Spanish clubs struggling the smart money would be on an English club IMO.

Yep 60-65m to Dortmund. And another 50-60m for him and his circus.

Why the feck would you want a player with Raiola as an agent. As good as he could be, he for sure won't be here for long and would be Pogba's drama all over again.

Why would he join Chelski? the graveyard for even the most prominent strikers. Clubs will be fighting for his signature, deciding to sign for Chelski now would be stupid.

He could go from having basically zero chance of major titles this year to being the main guy in a team that will be challenging for both league and CL this season. Add a large pay rise into the equation, and there are very good reasons why he might consider a move this year. The only reason to wait at Dortmund is if he really has his heart set on Madrid.

I don't know he didn't exactly pick Dortmund because they competed did he, he'll move to whomever Raiola coerce's him to join i.e. who pays the most
He chose Salzburg over Juventus (without Raiola involved) because of development, going to Dortmund over United was mainly also because of that plus the whole situation at United at the time. He and his father used Raiola as an advisor first when United and Dortmund were up against eachother, then he became his agent when he signed for Dortmund. Now that he's a bonafide superstar he can choose both development and a huge pay packet since all rich clubs are interested.

I genuinely believe we have a good chance of signing him next year due to several factors in our favour which I have listed earlier. Even if Raiola is involved.

He's from Norway, where EPL reign supreme. Also born in England. I very much doubt that he would prefer a move to Spain and I've yet to see anyone from his camp say that he wants to go to Spain (other than the fact the his father and Raiola went there on their lads on tour). . Add to that Barcelona being in a mess and RM publicly declare Mbappé as their one true love and I don't see how he ends up outside of EPL.

If he only wanted real Madrid move why his agent took him all over Europe to talk with all parties who could afford him to play for their club.

For me, I see him either at United or City, and if City sign Kane, then they'd not need another #9......
So all in all, I think United are in with a very good shout next Summer, especially with the Solskjaer & Sancho connections..

Chelsea are a very strong chance if they don't sign another big name striker this season when they realise Dortmund won't sell for another 12 months. I'd put them and ourselves as the two most likely right now. Haaland just doesn't seem like a Pep type of striker which is why I don't have City there as well.

Signing him next summer after Sancho this time, considering the chemistry they had at Dortmund would be something. But I don't expect it to happen and we have to be ready with alternatives

Imo this depends greatly how we'd look in the PL and CL this season. Heard this guy is crazy about success. If we look good there's a big chance he'd sign for us. In the current climate there's not many clubs who could afford him anyway.

World class traditional strikers are almost extinct, I reckon he's easily worth £150M at a minimum. Just imagine if we had the current transfer structure in place back when we were battling Dortmund for his signature.

It seems like Dortmund are doing a bit of flirting with Chelsea.

We absolutely must sign this guy THIS season.

Dortmund CEO just recently said if a madman comes and pays 200m(he means 150m surely) we'll definitely sell. Next season when the release clause kicks in, everyone and their dog will be after him.

I believe 150m would still be a steal for this guy, even 175m. We just need to offload some players, just not to the point of squad getting thin.

People here believe we must sort the midfield this season and delay the hunt for the forward next season. I say sell Pogba this season, Martial as well along with Lingard, Bailly, Phil, Andreas and a few others. We can fix the midfield next season and treat the season as warm up for Haaland.

On a sidenote, why does Ole not get enough credit for unearthing him? Because he's just a poor Ole?

Another sidenote, does anyone else get Brock Lesnar vibes from him?

It had nothing to do with the fee. Dortmund signed him for a pittance. It was the release clause we wouldn't agree to, particularly as his father and his agent wanted a piece of it when it was inevitably paid. It was abundantly clear the plan was to stay somewhere for a couple of years before moving again and pocketing a massive wad of cash.

I don't think it will kick off. He has a low release clause and it's pretty much understood at this point he's gonna leave. What matters is which club can sell themselves to him the best, which I don't think will lead to anything kicking off. Summer, most likely.

Agreed.

Chelsea should be equally attractive if not more, particularly with London. Now Ole and Sancho might be a draw for him. But ultimately if say one of us are not in CL for 22-23, that team is out of the race.

Even if we would have the money for him.....i would not sign him this season.

150m fee
20m wages for Haaland
40-50 for Raiola and Haaland's father

That would be crazy.

Why this year? We have Cavani and Haaland would be cheaper next year. Perfect scenario.

We don't have the oil money mate. Most of our deadwood are very hard to sell and in the current climate it's difficult enough to find a bid let alone hoping we'd receive +100m for them.

Maybe next summer but definitely not the now. There'll be Chelsea, us, PSG and City if they don't buy Kane. Madrid would need every of their penny saved for Mbappe.

He is not going to cost less next year. Raiola will get his €40M, Alfie will get his €20m, BVB will get their €85M. Then it will be who is willing to giving him the most signing bonus.

Also important to remember that there will be no payment plan, release clause paid up front.
