From Netflix, Better Call Saul is brilliant ( i think it is shared with some tv network in america). Dark is another gem. Narcos too got better as the seasons progressed. The Serpent was brilliant also.

I’d strongly disagree on Mare of Easttown. Horrible writing. Anybody can throw a host of ridiculous red herrings on a page. Better Call Saul and Succession are very good, but they’re not at that level for me.
Agreed. I watched it and was surprised at the over the top praise. It was decent, but nothing more. The first seasons of the "The Killing" for example, are way way better.

I can't stand that those who have both The Wire and Breaking Bad, some also then have Mad Men.

Guess I need to push passed, 3 episodes I think, that I found a chore to watch to want to see what happens next.

No way can they have such great taste in the first 2 and then have Mad Men in their list as well. :(

Obviously everyone knows season 1 was the best, but the other two are pretty good too.
The Pacific and the next to come are as related to Band of Brothers as the different seasons of True Detective are to each other, so if you can count True Detective as a TV show then BoB counts. I have spoken.

There really should be no question if Band of Brothers counts. It is unquestionably a TV show. Heck, if I wanted to say that Eastenders, Telletubbies and The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross were my favourite TV show, then they bloody count, as they're TV shows.

To me it felt like a low quality version of Mystic River.

1. Sopranos
2. Breaking Bad
3. I'd break it into a mix of various shows that only had one season, like Firefly and Freaks and Geeks; and shows that had one or two excellent seasons like Fargo.

Comedies
1. Inbetweeners
2. Always Sunny
3. Friends

Since I'm not going to go with the Sopranos, Wire and Breaking Bad as my (rather obvious) choices, my Top 3 would be:

The Shield
Succession
The Bureau

A couple of others that deserve shoutouts would probably be Better Call Saul, Fargo, The Leftovers, Mr. Inbetween and The Americans.

For some bizarre reason I only watched Band of brothers last week. It’s one of those shows that I’d been meaning to watch for about 15 years.

For anyone that hasn’t, just watch it before anything else. It’s only 10 hours. Don’t sit through a whole series of something else before watching this.

But honestly, 3 choices is too hard! Would love to squeeze in True Detective if only for that first season. And faves I enjoyed but can acknowledge they aren't up there with the very best like BSG. Tough.

Mr Robot
Game of Thrones
True Detective S1
Breaking Bad

Can't separate these four. I haven't seen all of The Wire or The Soprano's yet so they might make it, and Succession might too if it carries on being as good as it is so far

Game of Thrones (shame it was only 4 seasons)
Banshee
Black Sails

If mini-series are allowed then Band of Brothers & True Detective S1 are top of the pile.

I'm surprised there is no love for Seinfeld, or is it categorized differently as a sitcom?

Funny how The Simpsons gets a pass despite 2/3s of the series being largely trash, yet anyone who puts GOT for its first 6 seasons risks being vilified.

My 3 would be The Leftovers, Mr Robot and True Detective 1.

I think it’s because the story of Game of Thrones doesn’t make any sense anymore after we’ve seen how it ends so it also diminishes the other seasons. At least for me it does. Whereas you can still watch random early Simpsons episodes without even thinking about how it became.
