And they still haven't won this season. United had a world class finisher and a world class keeper, Wolves had Traore.
My reply was in relation to the poster saying leave him destroy half the team on the transition before laying it off to a good finisher.
Anyway, off for a walk.

Quite right but based on this game, his end product was good. As I said, on another day, he could have had 3 assists.
Hardly. His pass for their chance in the 62nd min was shit, fairly shambolic that the ball bounces like that. It's not without reason that he had 3 assists in 37 matches last season.

I don't think anyone at Wolves is tearing it up in terms of assists either. They are really bad at converting. I mean, there's no reason why that striker couldn't trap the ball and finish instead of trying to take it on first time. And it really wasn't that bouncy at all.

You keep referring to his other games but I can only talk about what he did today, and as I said, on another day, he could have had 3 assists. The one in the first five mins, where Jimenez had a shot. Trincao off the line and the other one where he squared it to Trincao.

Are any others being hailed as world class?

He’s the ultimate hype merchant.

Commentators bang on about him like he’s putting up prime Messi/Ronaldo numbers, instead he’s the most ineffective player I can think of.

Trincao off the line wasn't a pass from Traore.

His pass to Trincao in the second half was shit and made it extremely difficult to shoot properly

Very strange player, as always looks great but lacks that final pass. When he decides to take on the defender, more often than not he will beat them with ease.

He’s only 25 as well

I keep thinking he’s peak prime

certainly a top top quality player that in his day is unplayable

Certainly good enough for any of the “typical” top 6 imo

Why is he playing on left though? He could have taken Maguire and Shaw for a ride today but he stayed with AWB. Still he was a big threat.

I think he’s overrated. Full of fancy highlights with little end product. Heard Wolves wanted 100 million for him? Massively overpriced.

Ok 2 assists then.

The shit pass you're talking about to Trincao is nonsense. Trincao miss kicked the ball.

Wolves were decent for a few years and he never had good figures.

He's amazing and then he gets to the box.
In 19/20 he got 4 goals and 9 assists in the league which isn't bad. For comparison Jota scored 7 and assisted 1 that season before joining Liverpool for £41m.

Hate how we always make him look like a monster. He's honestly just a massive oiled up sprinter with zero end product. Sprints past people because of his pace and acceleration, and uses his physique to shield the ball. Other than that he's got nothing. So annoying to see him dominate our weak players.

suppose it depends how you define "beating" players. He sprints past people. I wouldn't call that "beating" them as such.
He causes us so much trouble when we play them because he is definitely not a pace merchant. We can handle most pace merchants no problem. The thing about Adama is that he goes past using his excellent close control and then combines that with his incredible speed, strength and agility. He rarely pushes it forward and sprint after it, he keeps it close to him.

Top top quality attackers have never been as profligate as him. This is a stats heavy era but there isn’t a single era where an attacker who can neither score nor assist is considered top quality.

Exactly this. He would be like Nani at his worse levels of frustration.

Does he get subbed early fairly often?
I remember he generally used to be played only as an impact sub as he would get gassed very rapidly. Seems to make it through the full match more often these days, but he was clearly knackered today after 70ish minutes and became much less of a threat

He's one of the most intimidating not intimidating forwards in football. He's built up to be this lethal attacker but that couldn't be further from the truth. If he spent half as much time practicing actually playing football instead of being a raging bull he might be decent.

It's weird. It's almost like he's got a similar obsession as Ronaldo with perfecting his physical attributes. But unlike Ronaldo, he never really figured out how to use them once he perfected them.

It still astonishes me that he came through La Masia. He's surely the least prototypical Barca academy graduate in living memory.

Spurs (or any other big side) would be crackers to go near him. He’s obviously got a very particular skill set but I’ve yet to see much evidence that those skills materially affect the winning of football matches.

I wonder what he will be like in his late 20s early 30s. Will his bulk slow him down?

Exactly. I don’t get how people have such a negative bias against him. Yes, his end product isn’t great but on the transition and beating people he’s world class.
It doesn't matter, if all you do is beat people. He has 7 goals and 14 assists in 143 appearances (7 in 105 for Wolves) - those stats are awful. And really - it's not possible to just blame it on poor team-mates

And he turns 26 in january - it's not like he will suddenly grow up and get better at it.

The closest player I can compare him to is Alain Saint Maximin at Newcastle. He has played for a much worse side than Traore - and he has 7 goals and 9 assists 54 appearances. He almost has the same goals + assists while playing less than half the games - for a worse side.

He’s a beast with unbelievable technique, think he would be great as a SAF winger in the shape of Valencia.
