He was pretty poor vs Southampton on the right (goal came from the penalty spot), and didn't do much centrally today.

His best position is wherever there is a chance to shoot. He can get caught and isolated on the wing, he can be bullied by CBs. Or he can dribble past fullback or slip between CBs. Depends on the game.

Think he would do amazingly in a 2-striker setup.

I actually think he’s looked at his most dangerous from the left - there was an example today of him showing the kind of pace that isn’t evident when he’s playing on the right; there was a game just after the restart where he created a goal for Bruno from there. I feel like his ceiling is highest out there - on the right, beyond his stepovers and shots he generally cuts inside and plays a simple pass rather than doing something destructive.
He had few good moments from left wing like the assist for Rashford vs Southampton (in the 9-0 game), goal vs Leeds and also great shot vs Wolves (both looked like peak Bale moments) but overall he is better as RW as there is so much to his game than just burst of pace to beat defenders from outside.

Anyways it's good he can play in so many positions, players always switch positions so he can contribute from anywhere on the pitch. He has the skillset to do that.

I'm not saying they play in the same way - but the way he kinds of takes his fullback on and tries to get some space before unleashing a deadly accurate shot kind of reminds me of Arjen Robben.

To be fair it was the team mates around him who were barely getting any service to him. A midfield who lacked control of the game and wide men who struggled to beat a man and drive up the pitch and let him get on with putting chances away in the box. That’s not to say the OP isn’t on to something here as the issues in the side are not easily remedied and if he is getting scraps then moving him wide is better but in a more cohesive side he probably wouldn’t look out of place as a CF.

Not that clear cut IMO. At the moment he would benefit more with having a more experienced taking defenders away from him, so he can focus on running at the goal, rather having his back at it, and fighting 50/50 with 2 defenders.

When we can control the midfield like we did toward the end of the game, as a inverted forward on the wing, it can work. However, in an end to end game or where opposition dominating possession, having on the wing is counter productive. He's stuck out wide, and not having enough chance to be around the box where his natural finishing ability is best at.
Correct.

Well yes, when Greenwood shifts to his left. Never in a million years would Robben score that kind of goal Mason did yesterday.
