For the rumours going around he seems to really want to join PSG so if that's the case i don't see a point in moving for him, we already have 1 frenchman continuously linked to PSG i really don't think another would be a great recipe.

Romano is saying we are in for a midfielder (thank fook) and our order of preference (which would actually tally with the general noises over the summer) 1 Camavinga 2 Saul 3 Neves. I would take any of them. They can handle the ball and get about the pitch. We are one injury away from Matic starting a string of games. All decent ballers with plenty of upside. Chelsea’s interest in Saul may hurry the whole process up. I’d obviously prefer Camavinga. It would be special to watch him develop here. I think Neves would be the smartest signing for right now. Saul on loan is pragmatic and he could go back to being amazing…

I dunno…

I’m still confused as to what his best position is. Is he a defensive midfielder or a box to box one? Which player, past or present, is he most similar to?
He's an unusual player in that his standout attributes are tackling and dribbling (his skill at the latter is probably why he's destined to be a box-to-box player, rather than a holding midfielder).

Similar players would include Kante, Gueye, Allan and perhaps Yacine Adli.

Big fan of Camavinga however I feel if the player had the desire to be at United this transfer would have moved further along weeks ago. The players agent has close ties with the club, if the agent has supposedly 'suggested' United that's not a good sign.

It's funny as by many standards Camavinga and Saul are coming off below par seasons for their domestic clubs and despite Neves being the outcast among many, I feel like Neves is the most impactful player the club could sign given his league experience.

He is coming, i feel it.

Us not buying anyone so far indicates we are waiting on Camavinga (at least in my head :D)
Unless you're a PSG fan this means that you can't trust your feelings.

Prophetic.

With McTominay out for surgery we're going to be seeing Matic a lot in the next few weeks.

I think the transfer budget is probably all gone now but it would be great if we can bring Camavinga in in the last few days.

I have a feeling that he just may have played himself out to fringe status after last Sunday, even with injuries. It was truly appalling stuff. He gave the ball away 25 times and hid in between Maguire and Lindelof. He got away with doing it at times last season but there were other games he played and we were totally flat, aimless and susceptible to pressure building up on the edge of our box. we also cant hope to get on top of pressing teams playing on the backfoot like that.

WHat you say is very true, but with McTominay out and Pogba on the left....only leaves as of yet nothignness VDB or 8mins of football Hannibal, so he will get minutes and quite a lot of them possily aqnd sadly, exactly why we need to sign a defensive midfielder before the close of play

We will get a younger DM/DLP. I’m 95% sure of it. I think it’s gone totally quiet on Camavinga but there’ll be news soon. Id be willing to bet he wants to come here with all our transfer optimism and the obvious hole in our first 11 in midfield.

This guy gonna be our final signing. You heard it here first, he wants to play with Ronaldo and Pogba.

I want Neves but Neves is more of a Pogba replacement.

What we really need is a first choice CDM to play alongside Pogba/Neves.

The Ronaldo move was opportunistic and a defensive move to stop City becoming stronger.

Where we really need to focus on is midfield this week or next summer.

No doubt we need two players if Pogbas off. A number 6 and a number 8. My choices would be Tchouameni and Neves who could both play together in a two.

Neves doesn’t play anything like Pogba. Nor does he play in the same position.

Saul Camavinga would be Pogba replacement and not Neves. Neves would be our CDM/DLP if he signs.

I think Lingard goes to West Ham very late in the window, too late to deploy the transfer fee towards a DCM. However, I think we will be active in January to fill the hole in the middle, might even offer Rennes a fee to bring forward Camavinga vs free in the summer if he can be convinced to come. Otherwise it could be another young DCM from a minnow who still has a need to balance the book, AS Monaco?

Are PSG even in for him? All the links seem to be from his side.

I wonder what the chances are to get him next summer for free? There must be a tons of top clubs trying to sign him.

Psd would never say it out loud, but they need to sell heavy before they can afford him.
Interesting. Other than Mbappé, it doesn't seem like there's much demand for their 'available' players.

Because the available players are on high wages and aren't worth as much as PSG is asking for them. They'll probably to manage a few before the deadline, but I don't know if Camavinga can even break into the PSG midfield right now.

Yeah, mirrors our situation really. And who would he mainly be competing with? Gueye, Parades and Pereira I'm guessing?

I have a gut feeling that were getting the lad rennes are clearly trying to sell with him being starting on bench in all their games so far except the first and he clearly refusing to sign a new contract to keep his value

Psg are clearly preoccupied with their mbape situation and doubt they want to cluster their midfielder more then it already is

Liverpool I think may be the unlikely horse in the race as fir the time being only the English clubs are capable of spending and out of all the top 6 tgey have spent least so the chelsea stopage might convince them to go for a panic buy to appease their fans

Overall at the rate that its going and rennes struggling to sell i think we might be able to lowball them even further and get him signed for less then the 35€ reported wich would be a damn fine signing for now and the future making this the best transfer window of ours in the recent history

A nice parting gift by our boy ed

I guess it depends on where Pochettino would see him because he's young enough that you can mold him with his excellent attributes, but right now I don't see why he would see the need for him. PSG need a DM, Camavinga is more box-to-box and we already have players that are better than Camavinga like Wijnaldum and Herrera (who is on the bench for Wij despite having been very good in the first couple of games of the season). Camavinga needs to sort himself out because he's not been following up on his solid debut season. So he could either be not quite the talent people suspected him of being, or he's just really bothered by the speculation of his transfer. Either way, this doesn't scream of a player ready to move to a big club and impose himself. I hope he proves me wrong wherever he ends up going, but I think he might probably need more time to develop before he can come to a club like PSG or Manchester United and impose himself on the midfield. It's really early so this means absolutely nothing at the moment, but right now I'm not convinced he's going to be a star midfielder during his career. I look at a kid like Musiala, and he's always standing out despite his young age, he's at Bayern Munich (!) and kind of already knocking on the door of being a starter. I'm not seeing that from Eduardo right now, but maybe (hopefully) a move will change that.
