Used to think it was an anti-United thing, but now he just seems completely out of it. His "its live" thing was shoe-horned in like Kerry Katona doing an Iceland advert. And the reaction to De Gea's double save to so lazy. Didnt react one way or the other. It comes to all the great commentators, but his energy levels are at an all time low. He needs to be moved on.

who’s idea was the “it’s live” thing? It sounds so cringeworthy. And as if the fact that the broadcast is live is something to get excited about…i can have a naked cam session live with a girl in Slovakia with my phone these days, a football match being live is hardly something to write home about.

He sounds like he has old man lips now where he has something in the corner of his mouth that or he's constantly eating a big of crisps, it's actually very annoying especially the heavy breathing.

A bit like JR in AEW. Problem is, the new generation of commentators are so boring that I don't mind them staying on. At least they have some personality and charisma even if they waffle.

Yep. It reminds me of latter day John Motson. These dudes don't know when to stop.

Suspiciously specific.

It's funny the kind of criticism that can be aimed at some demographics of presenters or pundits without being deemed prejudiced.

Focus on Tyler's ability, fine. And that should apply to criticism of everyone regardless of race, sex, age, etc. But focusing on their age, and calling them 'dinosaurs' - I'm not sure why that's deemed any more relevant / acceptable than including their race or sex in the criticism.

I guess we still have a long way to go to recognising ageism as unacceptable.

What's his agenda against United? Used to like him when I was younger, but the last 10/15 years it's been very noticeable.

It was when he started doing it which shows you how far past his sell by date Marty is.

Don't think it's just Tyler. Sky Sports are always cringe-worthy.
This. He fits into their weird setup of 'heated debates' between Carra and Nev, Sounness vs Pogba 'banter' and basically finding anything or anyone who can divide opinion and generate interest.

There is nothing natural about him. You just feel as though he's itching to get a soundbite he's been rehearsing all week out.

I think he has massively struggled to adapt to the new style of commentary.

The commentators tend to have a "discussion" whilst watching the match these days which means Tyler just rambles. I remember when he was paired with Andy Gray. Tyler stuck to the basic commentary (with excitement) which he excelled at whilst Gray provided the analysis.

He's been past it for ages now. He's only still here because he's got the voice

There was one the other day, dozy commentator said something about "Ooh imagine if Carragher returned to Liverpool", followed by a few seconds blank, then Carragher spoke about something totally different. I laughed.

He's always been like that, I can remember ''Jenas by name, genius by nature'' vs Newcastle about 20 years ago. Cringeworthy shit.

It used to kinda work when they went to an ad break, but now that they don't, it just doesn't at all haha

semi-senile ramblings + heavy breathing into the mic = bad combination for a commentator

Fantastic commentator but yeah, he sounds tired now. Even the best get old & regress. Should probably finish up at the end of the season.

Not gonna slander him, he’s had some legendary calls.

“It’s a wonderful run from Giggs!”

“Great turn by Machedaaaaa”

The 'aaaaand its live' , without then going to the ads, is incredibly cringworthy. Its like he feels that he has to say it. Terrible.

He’s terrible. Top commentators and colour commentators have been let go too soon. Tyler has been kept on for at least 5 years too long.

Great comparison TBF.
Not quite, JR was brought in to lend some gravitas that the others can't, whereas there are plenty of commentators that could over from Tyler.

Plus JR is the GOAT, even if he is getting a bit long in the tooth.

He is a legend but he has got a bit cringworthy recently, probably time to hang up the microphone in all honesty.

Delivered some great lines over the years, Its when he tries to be clever or funny he gets cringey and he seem to be trying to deliver something funny or clever all the time at the moment, just commentate on the game and leave the silly quips to the analyst.
