Coventry City have confirmed they have signed former Chelsea trainee Todd Kane from QPR.

The 27-year-old wing-back has joined the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee, signing a two year contract after falling out of favour under R’s boss Mark Warburton.

A former Chelsea trainee, Kane has made almost 150 Championship appearances – 60 of those coming with the Hoops and the rest from a series of loan deals during his time at Stamford Bridge when he gained experience at Blackburn Rovers, Nottingham Forest and Hull City.

Although a right-sided defender by trade, the former Chelsea Academy graduate can also play on the left and may well be seen as the ideal candidate to compete and provide cover for both positions.

The left wing-back position appears to be more of a concern due to the fact that City only currently have Chelsea loan star Ian Maatsen to play there while on the right Julien Dacosta is currently back-up to the outstanding first choice Fankaty Dabo.

Kane has plenty of pace, likes to get forward and get crosses into the box while also having a decent shot which produces the occasional goal, having scored 13 in his career to date.

Why didn’t we bid for that 27 year old Toddger? He would have apparently sorted out our defensive midfield problem. Even at Wing back.
