Lukaku, Di Maria and Depay are the players I was thinking of. Ashley Young seems to have done well too, after being widely accepted as completely useless on here before he left. Ditto Chris Smalling (even though he struggled in the CL against us, on his first game back after injury)

A better question might be, who have we sold that didn’t look better at his new club?
Schneiderlin.

Was equally shite at Everton.

Loads and loads under Fergie too to be fair.

There’s a player in there somewhere, maybe he just needs the right circumstances to help him show it. Good deal for all parties.

2. In his 52 appearances, they never got beat (i'm not including the Europa final last year against Villareal, when they lost on penalties - at which time James was not on the pitch, and didn't take a pen.)
Dunno why people keep repeating this rubbish that we never got beat with James in the side, takes about 20 seconds to find out that it's bollocks.

could we not have tried to male a deal for Kalvin Philips, he would greatly improve our midfield options.

The stat has been misquoted so many times now.. The original stat was since Crystal Palace (first game last season), we haven't lost a game (in normal time) in which James has played.

He looks gutted in the interview. Seems we pushed him out last minute with the 'once I'd got my head around it'.

Never had the quality, but did his job as a cheap stop gap whilst we waited for Sancho. Could never fault his commitment and we even made money out of it, so wish him all the best and think he'll do brilliantly for Bielsa.

Feck Leeds.

Well usually manager is one of the biggest factor a player turns it around. Don't you think so?
Not necessarily. He’ll benefit from playing for a team that is given lots of space to attack.

Have to respect it. If only some others in the squad had a similar desire to play games.

Hopefully there is some kind of buy back clause factored in as I think he’ll get better and better playing regularly

think he do will okay, he has a good attitude. He always seems more relaxed playing for Wales, maybe because there isn't as many household names in that team he feels more comfortable. His final ball has been his issue, maybe more regular playing time in a less pressurised environment, that may improve. Good luck to him

Make no sense to me.

Do our management truly have a plan? Ronaldo news was well known on Saturday, and they assured James about the plan. Start him on Sunday, then later told him he's down the pecking order. Or this info is bs.

That is probably embellished for dramatic purposes but as I understand it the collapse of Amad's loan to Feyenoord which occurred over the weekend was the catalyst for the club deciding to let Dan move and the fact that the fee helps balance the books for Ronaldo is just gravy.

We sell players because they're not good enough to make it here, but most will look better at a club more their level. Darmian, Blind, Smalling etc etc.

People on here know my stance on James - I didn't rate him at all. However, if this story is accurate, this is awful treatment by the club and just lacking all kinds of planning.

By Saturday, we'd have known Ronaldo's back, so we should have planned accordingly.

We used to be as ruthless under Fergie but this just feels so chaotic that I cannot even be somewhat reassured we've upped our game.

Agreed 100%
He seems like a thoroughly decent bloke.
Not good enough for Utd but not many are. Had his couple of seasons in the sun and realised he’d have to move to play more.
More power to him.
Good luck Dan!!

Feck Leeds.
Let's be honest, he was staying and a valued member of the squad, the we signed Cristiano and we needed to make a sale.

Ole looked around at him, Lingard and Martial and realised that the only one we could realistically shift was Dan James.

If Ole had a choice I think Martial would be the one to be fecked off but at £250k a week noone is taking him off our hands. It must be gutting for your United dream to end because of a surly overpaid player when you have a good attitude and work your socks off. Life be like that sometimes.

He’ll do well for Leeds because he’s fit as a fittle, rapid and works his arse off. Ultimately though he wasn’t good enough for United.

Against Leeds people said he was not at the level required to play for ManUtd. Then in the next 2 games when everyone forgot how to play football (the midfield especially), he was actually one of the few players that still managed to run with the ball and put crosses into the box. But that will be forgotten as he will always be seen as a shit player by some. Even when we bought him for peanuts and nobody expected a new Ronaldo. Best of luck for him. Its hard for me to disrespect a hardworking, respectful footballer like him, even if he's not talented enough to be a starter for us.

Yeah I read it as exactly this.

I actually think this was a club decision rather than Ole’s, he started James in almost every big league game since he became manager which shows the trust he has in him.

He even started him over Martial on Sunday when news of the deal had already leaked to the press.

Genuinely nice lad and can tell he always put in 100%. Just not United level.
Sort of difficult to wish him luck going to Leeds but maybe he can score a hat-trick every game and they consistently lose 4-3?

Great deal for all involved.

Unfortunately not good enough for United, but seems an amazing lad, has great spirit and deserves to be starting games. Was fortunate enough to be there for the 4-0 game against Chelsea and there was an amazing buzz around him when he scored. Hope he does well for Leeds.

I still think Amad should have been ahead of him. Sending a £40m purchase on loan while the £15m one stays makes no sense.

Best of luck.

I might pick him in my fpl team if he's a regular starter.
