People are happy to walk around with Ralph Lauren (another man's name) sprawled across them but want to turn their nose up at football shirts.
It’s obviously not the same.

What do we think?

My own opinion is as follows:

At a match: perfect.
Whilst playing sports/gym: fine.
At home/pub watching a match: All good.

Any other situation: wierd.

Also, the older you get, the more ludicrous you look whilst wearing another man's name on your back.

Obviously people can wear whatever they want but I reserve the right to laugh at the 45 year old wearing a tight "Gerrard 8" shirt down to Asda.

What says Redcafe? Are you a grown ass man who still rocks a replica down to Morrisons?
I don't know about the UK, but it is perfectly normal and popular for grown man to wear replica kits here in Southeast Asia. In Singapore, you cannot go on a day out without seeing a few united shirts.

I wore the 98 CL final one recently - I like that. A few of my mates wear the old Liverpool and Arsenal ones and I think they are much better than new kits.

I didn’t feel overly comfortable wearing a football top at my age in any case.
Each to their own if you like it wear it..

Lots of guys wear them out and about here in Brazil. Local teams and popular European teams. I have never once looked at someone and thought “wow, how weird” because they have a football shirt on.

I don’t wear them outside of exercise because I found them uncomfortable, but really surprised at the number of judgmental comments in the thread.

If you love the sport, why not wear them? They are as funcional as any other shirt in the supermarket!

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
When is she starting onlyfans? I’ll subscribe. Also, if she wore that out, I’d think of her as a bit of a pillock. I mean it’s not hard to dress appropriately, like a well adjusted human being.

Wearing jerseys out and about is chavvy as feck.
Some people can pull it off?

She ⬇ also has an MUFC tattoo and a tongue piercing....

Slightly off topic - but my nephew is now in a "phase" where he's extremely reluctant to wear anything but football gear - shirt + shorts - in any kind of setting.

My sister has a hard time trying to get him into normal clothes.

The interesting thing is that he doesn't have a favourite team.

He's essentially a full kit wanker with a stacked wardrobe (he's spoiled as feck, so gets whatever new shirt he fancies).

Going to a match or if having a kick around great. Wearing another person’s name on by back once you’re over 16/18 is like having a poster on your wall and just very child like.

Don't see a problem wearing them anywhere bar formal events etc. It is really common to see various football and Gaelic tops around Belfast.
Solid no for adult full kit wan.. wearers.:nervous:

I don't know about that one, it's not that common when you look at something like that and realize that the makeup isn't hiding reality. And I'm not trying to be mean.

My own opinion is as follows:

At a match: Perfect.
Whilst playing football: Perfect
Whilst at the gym: Okay but it looks a bit tacky because of the sponsor
At home/pub watching a match: All good

Any other situation: Weird unless you're a middle-aged bloke and then I don't judge you because I assume you give no fecks

Surprised at how many people think it’s weird.

Yeah some, when that’s the only thing they’re wearing, incidentally.
Not full kit wankers - but full kit wearers who might be appealing to...wankers, I guess.

It's actually a thing in "glamour" photography - models wearing football kits (or paint-on "kits", even). Or so I've heard. Never seen it myself - but that's what they tell me.

Hah in the US it's a way of signaling you want to talk about footy. That is until you see a PSG Messi shirt - total red flag.
I guess the PSG Messi shirt is the new PSG Neymar shirt.

Same. Got a Nephew that’s changed to Spurs and is now talking about Man City. The shame.

My rule for fake shirts is the same as for boob-jobs: if they are well done i don`t mind.

Some very fair points in this thread. I stayed away from our kits mid-teens until recently, after visiting the megastore at Old Trafford. I've only picked up our 3rd kits so far, they're more street-friendly.

What is this now ? 40 + year Olds cannot admire sports personalities? Age is just a number. I don't see any problem in wearing our beloved player names on the back.

I know. But (and this goes way beyond this particular topic, of course) he really doesn't seem to have any interest in settling for a particular team. He's totally obsessed with football - plays himself, plays FIFA all the time, wears nothing but football shirts...but it's all about individual players. He worships Lewandowski, De Bruyne, Messi (to some extent - but not that much, actually)...but he isn't in any shape or form a Bayern, City or Barca (now PSG) fan.

I find that interesting - it's 100% in line with where I imagine football "fandom" is headed.

Admiration is one thing.

If you dress up like them to do your weekly food shop then people might giggle at you, that's all.
Yeah but who cares what anyone else thinks? Someone might giggle....feck them.... they are just idiots then if they are giggling at what other people are wearing.

I wanted to buy the home shirt with 'Ronaldo 7' on the back. After reading this topic, now I'm not too sure.
I never knew the majority of people view this way.
Just buy it mate. Some people find it a bit silly, many others don't. It's honestly isn't that serious. If you like wearing them out, then feck what anybody else thinks.

Yeah he sounds like the modern fan they don’t seem to follow a club more a player, with mine it’s Gareth Bale and Harry Kane.

Finally order my Ronaldo shirt it's arriving in October.

As for other brand for united; I'm not into Ralf, primarni or other items similar mass produced brands.. Gucci or LV level I'd be interested. Then again, i do have Pagani clothes you have to get from their factory in Italy..

43 year old here who vowed to just wear polo shirts and then got suckered back in by the rising retro market. I don’t judge others because if that shit was turned around I wouldn’t like it one bit. As long as you’re a United fan then it’s all good but wearing a City or Liverpool shirt at any age is a bit cringe.

I saw this weird bloke at Tesco the other day just staring at this middle aged woman in a City shirt. I actually thought in my head “that’s embarrassing.”

I go out shopping pretty often but I never just think “I’m gonna pop down the shops, just going to weirdly stare at middle aged womens shirts.”
