Absolutely love the Matrix trilogy. Impressive characters, the expanding universe including the games and the Animatrix.
I'm pretty hyped for the fourth installment. However, after watching the teaser it felt like alot of elements were taken from the first movie. Hopefully the fourth movie won't be a rehash a la The Force Awakens. I'm kinda hoping for a totally new story.

The first movie is my favourite film. Sadly 2 and 3 did not live up to expectation. I can't for the life of me think that this new one is going to be anything but sub par.

Choosing those pills in that link freaked me out. Thought it was just a coincidence that the trailer said 8:29 and the next said 8:30 and my clock said the same both times. Chills

The Matrix was a phenomenon when it released. The original was a brilliant film and the second part was a really good spectacle while obviously not hitting the heights of the first. Third was terrible.
I do think the 4th part may stick out like a sore thumb right now. It was absolutely perfect for the era it could out in, the whole Y2k, IT boom, existential sci fi etc stuff.

His journey in the first 3 films always gives me a chuckle... Went from the coolest fecker on the planet in the first film, to a man who can't shout properly in the second one, to a backseat driver wearing your grandads sweater in the third.
Look at Fishburne's filmography, he acts in pretty much anything these days. Maybe Neo is taking on the mantle of the wise leader and they'll have a young new "Neo"? That's what I assumed but who knows. The Wachowski's haven't exactly set the world alight after The Matrix and I doubt this will change that.

The movie is laden with Matrix references too. They even do the line from the first movie 'What do you need?' So I always find myself thinking that's where Morpheus ended up. Would be so much fun if he had a cameo in the Matrix 4 standing on a rooftop with a bunch of birds.

The trailer looks like a rehash of the first film with the mirror effect and the helicoptor scene etc...Is the best we can hope for is that it's an inoffensive addition to the pantheon, eg the comeback Bourne film for Matt Damon (albeit the whole trilogy was strong, not just the first film)?

Personally I wouldn't mind that so much if it was part of attempt to improve on the original trilogy. A do-over. The Matrix brand was always too strong for WB not to try to milk some more revenue from it. I'm surprised its taken this long

I think so too. He turns up for twenty minutes, the new folk are the main characters, everyone thinks "wtf are they doing?" And then it reminds everyone of Black Widow, which is cool because it reminds everyone of Scarlett Johansson, which reminds me of smearing jam over Scarlett Johansson. And then it's a simple "pop", cheeky wank, and off to bed.
Watching them back, I didn't mind 2 as much as I thought I did. It would have been actually good if 3 made any sense at all.

Didnt one of the movies (2 or 3) have like a rave dance scene that seemed to last for about half an hour.

Well, I mean it's called Resurrections, and you'd assume from the way Revolutions ended, that the Matrix simulation restarted yet another time.
And Neo, you know from the 3rd movie,
died.
So his resurrection: was he uploaded back into the Matrix? There's no guarantee that he knows who he really is in this movie.

So maybe they'll be using part of the movie to make a point out of how the simulation runs through a similar pattern of events, before branching out.
That felt like a different movie altogether.
The only thing I remember from the sequels are mostly bad stuff.
The only good thing i remember is the twins who looked like 2003 David Beckham.
They can also probably rely on people not clearly remembering what happened in 3, given it isn't a film you rematch and it's so fecking long and dry.
I think this is going to be a genuine thing. It’s going to be under strict instructions from the producers to make it a film in its own right and not to rely to heavily on people remembering all the thematic symbolism and how it’s knitted into the overarching story
